@zackvanhalen it's weird how he sang so bad on the demos and then a couple years later made one of his best recordings on the same song. maybe he wasn't drunk enough for the demo.
Gotta love the clubbing sound....you know when your walking the streets and you can hear that stuff coming from the club--- then hightail it in there and feel that live vibe house music...you don't hear that anymore.....what a shame... VH ROCKS!!!
This song is great but it makes me laugh. This is 2 years before the first record. How many record execs do you think saw them and said to himself "Nope, these guys don't got it!!!!"
It's actually a Ibanez Destroyer, very rare now-a-days, Ibanez got sued by Gibson since it looked waaay to similar to the Gibson Explorer so the production of them stopped. For some reason the Destroyers always sounded 10x better, I bet if Eddie didn't "customize" his Destroyer he'd still be using it.
Dude, there is no explanation, its Van Halen. They rock out, wear hockey gloves, have parties with midgets running around, and get laid constantly. At least back in the day they did. Some things just stay a mystery LOL!!
I'm with you.... one of their best. I love the slow break in the middle....closest thing the old VH had to a ballad (unless you count Secrets from Diver Down).
This is absolutely fantastic. My favorite song on Women And Children First. Still can't believe Eddie was playin' like that in the early seventies. Thanks for sharing, man.
love this, we were learning it last night at rehearsal. i love romeo and could this be magic as well. about the star fleet project, that is actually quite weak, in my opinion, and ed has said it wasn't his proudest moment. now, to all the hardcore vh fans out there, does anyone know where i can get/hear this looney tunes album i've heard of, it's an early 70's recording of vh covering everything. any help????
Yeah, Eddie was the man. It's weird how it took 6 years for them to get noticed.. I mean, Ed was kicking every other guitar players ass in the 70's (except Michael Schenker!). IMO they should of get signed in 73.. then we'd have a few more albums with roth too :D
He kicked schenkers ass, listen to this solo here, that alone was far more advanced and revolutionary in every way from the tone to the attack to the choice of notes. Schenker was dethroned by eddie in1978.
This is one of VH top 5 songs of all time!

An epic, classic VH track that SHOULD have been released as a single off WACF. Damn shame this song NEVER gets played on classic rock radio.

I always like the way Eddie played the rhythm sections of 'Simple Rhyme" here live more than the version on "Woman and Children First."

careypeak23 2 years ago 2
He was/is a lot better than Schenker, technical-wise. And, Ed plays a mean blues too (listen to some of the stuff he did with Brian May).
Anyway, I still prefer Schenker's style.
Also, I think Schenkers style "evolved" more than Ed's, to me, Ed has been playing the same solos since 78 :x
He still rules though:D
