  • This is so awesome, I can't tell you how many times I have watched this.

  • I just want to get this because IM about to go on an adventure and I know that you cant fake a polaroid picture. I gonnas take pics of aliens!

  • i found one of these in my basement lol i damn near shit myself when i found out it was a camera

  • My husband just inherited one of these cameras from my grandmother after her death a couple of weeks ago, carrying case and all. It's the coolest thing!

  • I dreamed about having this camera.

  • @neocon70 go to settingsgeneralreseterase all content and settingsthrow phone against wallbuy Android :) hope I helped

  • Polaroid is the new vinyl.

  • I love these land cameras, but though the sx-70 is great I want to get the first one, the polaroid j66 camera, Luckily I found one for only 30 dollars but the film is expensive and hard to find, though I was lucky enough to find some film for it, even though its 42 dollars per 10 shots, its worth it. Though its in black and white.

  • how can i get the SX-70 color tones with my iphone?

  • pure poetry at the highest level

  • hipters

  • I like this kind of Polaroid camera than the ones we have today. Though the ones we have today may be more handy, this old Polaroid camera looks very vintage and has good quality too. :))

  • 3:34

    ...Is that MARIO?

  • better than Digital

  • lol i have one

  • relaxgasm

  • I've never owned an SX-70. A couple things strike me.

-The quiet elegance of this ad. And the gorgeous preservation and transfer.

-10 inch min. focus on a Polaroid

    -Through-the-lense focusing

-Hard plastic overlapping sides (last forever compared to bellows)

-It just hit me why they called the film "time-zero"-- because before that you had to exactly time the development of packfilm based on the temperature of the room.

  • I dont understand why with all the technology we have today, we are not able to produce fllms of the same or better quality at a cheaper price! Even if you do not innovative, can't you produce THE SAME? Somebody pls answer my burning question. Even if the company producing it has changed, isn't the technology still there?? I simply cannot comprehend.

  • @clarenett

the demand is close to zero these days. There are probably still companies that make these films, but there are no longer economies of scale in place which means they will be expensive

  • I was about 11 or 12 years old the first time I saw an ad for this camera. The cool way it unfolded, spat out the pictures as you took them and then they developed in front of you - I SOOOO wanted one of these. But my folks took all their pics on Kodachrome 64 with an Instamatic (126 cartridges), and I didn't get a say.

About ten years later I bought a Polaroid 600 with built-in flash, and found that the various disadvantages of the Polaroid system outweighed the advantage of getting the pic stat

  • i miss quality like this...

  • Very elegant.

  • lol... they had it so much better back in the day... watching the film develop in their hand. using the impossible projects film is so much more difficult. and 10 shots per pack!

  • The days when taking a picture was so simple and easy.

  • I bought an sx 70 at a pawn shop for 20 dollars...I lost it when we changed houses....out of all of the things we lost...that hurt the most D:

  • im selling this camera if anyone interested

  • @cassielangelus wtf how much?

  • £80 jus getting rid of stuff i dont need. If u interested email me on jay1980ca@hotmail.co.uk

  • An art.

  • such a perfect machine.

  • i see these almost every time i go to goodwill ;)

  • I WANTT!

  • @CCao7k im selling one if u interested inbox me

  • It feels like you are launching an heat-seaking missile!

  • For anyone interested, Fuji is now manufacturing instant film like polaroid and is compatible with polaroid cameras and accessories. Most professional camera stores carry it. Like Samy's camera or Freestyle photo in LA.

  • how awesome would it have been born in that time period in america. The American Dream..

  • What's that thing they use for flash??

Is it disposable or sumting? :o

  • @ace0931 Yes, I remember those when I was little. They are one time flash bulbs. they were used on some 35mm cameras also. they use a long strand of magnesium wire that burns up inside a plastic bulb.

  • can you still buy this polaroid??

  • @cmouseplane im selling one if u interested msg me

  • i have that exact camera and it comes with some flash and the cariying case with a neck strap and a case all leather email me if u want to buy it

  • I found one of these for three dollars. Best deal ever.

  • @TaHiTiTaHoI So lucky!

  • @TaHiTiTaHoI WHERE?

  • @andyllamanipl At a thrift store in Floridaaaa

  • every picture you take with it is just awesome.

  • i have a chrome sx-70 with black leather parts . it has autofocus and everything works !!

  • @lookatmySB me too! except mine doesn't have film. And I hear that the film costs a lot.

  • @TheBeatlesRoooock yeah there are new film with 8 pictures . the film costs 18€

  • @lookatmySB

    Um... Euros? Not $?

  • @TheBeatlesRoooock no i live inn germany and here it costs 18€

  • I used the Polaroid Swinger, the Polaroid Colorpack 80, the Polaroid SX70 and the Polaroid 600. And believe me: perhaps the filmpacks sold in my country were stored in less than perfect conditions but I never was able to develop photos that were even remotely similar to those you see in this demonstration video, color or BW. So save money and buy a digital camera. By the way, I still have got my Colorpack 80 stored in its original box.

  • this is SUPER cool! i waaaant it! too bad polaroid discontinued their instant cameras ): it's like super hard for me to find their films! not to mention they're also expensive. *i did a research before buying one from ebay

  • i luv polaroid cams....i want a good one though not exp...getting the sheets may b expensive here...any suggestions....btw i dont hav much money on me...but still!

  • my class wathced this in engineering

  • This is truly magic.

  • I have 2 of this exact model that will be on ebay soon

  • awesomee

  • It's funny, seeing those people taking so many pictures, it makes me want to say "don't you know anything about moderation!" But obviously, they did not have a Polaroid discontinuation when shooting this.

I wish the film would come back already.

  • I just love the sound it makes. I have one, but I've run out of film and new stuff is expensive!

  • how much is this?

  • Ahhh, the good old days. My dad owned a Polaroid camera similar to this one when I was 9, over 30yrs ago.

  • lol the music at 1:33 is kinda creepy...

  • Beautiful transfer. If only everything on YouTube were this good.

This is not a commercial, but a promotional film made by Charles & Ray Eames, with music by Elmer Bernstein.

Now... How about the original Laurence Olivier SX-70 commercial?

  • gonna get one of these on ebay

just one problem, getting the film!

  • what kind of fuji film or any other film can i use in place of the 600 film of my polaroid job pro instant?

i just bought one and i would really like to know. any suggestions would be gladly appreciated. :D

  • Knowing how hard it is to get film for the SX-70 now, it almost makes me queasy watching the people in the commercial blaze away. (Of course their world had an easy, effectively unlimited supply of SX-70 film, as close as the nearest drugstore...) Here's hoping for T.I.P.!

  • #PolaPremium sells film and soon will have new film from #The(Im)PossibleProject

  • Haha I love how it tells you how the camera works and gives you step-by step instructions on how it works. Nowadays, commercials focus on being flashy and clever instead of actually telling you what the product is.

  • so relaxing.... now i know just how it works too :)

  • wow i love you polaroid sx-70s-too bad 3 of mine broke.

  • i want one. :D

  • i want it!

  • i got one!!! but i cant find film ANYWHERE :'(

  • if u take the little nobs off of 600 film it will fit into the sx-70 and you can find 600 film on certain websites or on ebay

  • holy shit! now that's technology! lol i like the add because it explains how it works and because the relaxing music is just too cool for the time lol... i wonder if they could make like a camera 10 times smaller with a plastic screen telling you what pictures you made all ready and possibly deleting them... but now im just talking mad.. :P

  • It makes me bitter that I desperately want SX-70 film and they wasted a picture on a bowl of eggs hahaha

  • Love that, im going away with a group of friends, going to make scrapbooks for everybody and get a simple polaroid camera and go snap happy, plus you can write on the space below! Sooo amazing!

  • I just bought one of these at a garage sale- good thing there's an instructional video on how to use it!

  • God!

    I used to sell these!!!!!!!!!!

  • So relaxing, simple. I want to go back on that time and live there

  • you dont have too! polaroid is coming back! helped by llford!

  • @yxeseee I agree with the sentiment, but since we can't do that, let's try to make today better. :)

  • Haha, who needs a manual when you've got this commercial!

  • God...I want it =(

  • Dang..Thats when America had Money too have 3.00 minute commercials lol..

Now its just " Buy this now in 30 seconds and we will give you a free gift"..

  • For some reason, any picture taken with a Polaroid looks kinda creepy.

    i like that :D

  • You can buy one on ebay, other camera stores, etc but this specific model is one of the best polaroid cameras ever made so it may be expensive, anyone that wish to experiment with polaroids before the film go out of stock I'd recommend one of the polaroid 600 models, they're much cheaper, good luck :-)

  • this is the first...the folding sonar focus and built in flash models were incredible

    many thanks for posting!

  • i bought my onestep600 for $4 at a thrift store over the weekend! :}D

  • me too lol

  • @flickrfabio i luv polaroid cams....i want a good one though not exp...getting the sheets may b expensive here...any suggestions....btw i dont hav much money on me...but still!

  • su e bay le trovi...

but it doesnt work :( i really wished it did

  • don't feel sorry about polaroid! I bought one 3 weeks ago and I am very glad to use it here (in Canada) where I see things in colours. If you use a polaroid, you will see the world differently and force some firm to make again polaroid films. Viva Pola!

  • Saudades deste tempo viciada em fotografia e em papel que sou!

  • something beautiful about a Polaroid photo

    so..

    nice and memory-ish

  • nostalgic

  • the guy i buy my polaroid gear from is selling me one from his personal collection :D

  • I SO wish I had that!

  • I have one, but i cant even afford the film.

  • Why did it use flash bulbs?

  • from Infinity!!!!

  • I think I wanna marry that camara! I WANT IT! IF I DON"T GET ONE EVER I WILL KILL MY SELF!

  • check ebay, before you kill yourself ;)

  • yeah i baught one on ebay

  • @krampfbein i wont really kill my self. it was a figure of speech. lol it took me a year to reply this comment

  • I have this camera.

  • my dad have this camera...i think its going to be mine..jajaj...one question..where can i buy the film here in california?

  • ebay!!!

  • kick ass polaroid. i want one like that

  • now this takes 600 film, correct?

  • yeah just use a piece of paper under to load it and remove the paper before pushing the film all the way in. if you look inside the camera you can see a plate hat doesn't let the film in you need to push that down. and u do that with the paper :O) its not o complicated

  • wish someone would answer your question... i wanna know too

  • Canon D60.. Just slightly though .. lol.. and Hell Yea Im glad that I was born 20yrs later.. lol.

  • slightly different from my nikon D60 , x lol

  • @fallingwatter yeah, i remember it was "magical" when i was a little kid awwwwww =']

  • I am very disapointed that the polaroid camera SX-70 isn't still produced, in summer 2008 I bought a new Polaroid SX-70 camera. I fetched just one film for the camera. Unfortunately the camera didn't work properly. Later I bought a polaroid 600 camera and three months later I heard that Polaroid didn't produce films for 600 cameras, thanks for the nice video, I am looking forward to the new polaroid digital cameras.

  • in ca. at some targets the 600 film is still available

  • I've got this camera. Bought it in 1973. Don't use it now. Digital kicks ass, but man, back then this was a camera to be seen with.

  • sell it on ebay, I would buy it! :D

  • Finding this has made my day!

  • i want it!

  • thank you for putting up the origional version. the new edited version with music sucks. the origional is soooo much better. thanks
