may you give me the name for this exercise? I'm not that familiar with a ton of poses, but it would be nice to know so I can look it up online or ask an instructor about it. Thanks!

@akshintulabhargavi Hi Akhi :) I couldnt kelp but reply to this. Firstly, go to a mirror with a pack of post-its sticky notes and a pen and look at yourself. Write down the first things that come to your mind. Move all of the negative things to the left side of the mirror, and all of the positive to the right. Next, write down all of the things you truly love about yourself. What makes you really feel beautiful? Dont say none, bc there are things that are beautiful in you.
@akshintulabhargavi Then, go to your closet and separate the clothes that you're comfortable in to the right and the others to the left. Try on each outfit on the left side and write down what you dont like about yourself in that outfit (this might feel depressing, but just go through it. DONT get emotional/criticize yourself-just analyze). Put the post-it on top of each outfit and hang them back up. Now put a big banner at the top of the mirror w/something like "No matter what, I AM BEAUTIFUL!"
@akshintulabhargavi and at the top of the closet "Life is beautiful: dress beautiful, feel beautiful." It doesnt have to be these exact words, whatever motivates you. Now, begin working out. Remember, you're not working out bc you're fat, you're working out bc you want to become fit and healthy, and you want to make sure your muscles feel as beautiful as you truly are. Once you change your mind set, you wont feel depressed, you'll be more willing to work out, and you'll be able to go out more:)
@akshintulabhargavi When you believe in yourself, your body will listen to you. Its not going to be easy, you're going to want to give up. No one can motivate you as much as you can motivate yourself, so you have to believe in yourself and pray. Have faith and keep it, bc with faith comes belief and with belief comes strength. Trust me, these past 2 years, its worked out beautifully for me :)
@cassyryan it depends on how much you weight start off by doing normal work outs and then when you lost good enough weight you can start it slow i weight mmm like 300 some i did cardio work out for a while lost like around too 278 and started from there with yoga and now ive lost all the way down too 255
After only holding this muscle for about 30 seconds it feels quite sore and feels like this for a while afterwards. I think it is because this is a muscle that I don't often exercise. I just wanted to know if this means it's working?
Once I have mastered this, is it okay to begin adding movement like one legged leg slides where in the position you are currently in, I would slide one leg at at time down at straight like using my toe?
I have some questions about this exercise, after I placed my thumbs on my hip bone and my hands on the lower belly and start pressing downward and up, either the area between my thumb and index finger or my shoulders became so sour and tired that I just cannot go on after 1 min.
Am I pressing in a wrong way? :(
Should the elbows be placed on the map during the exercise?
It seems to take a strong power to reach the muscle!
You'r pressing down too hard, thats not necessary! Just have the fingers there pressing down very gentle you can feel the muscle pressing back into your fingers when you pull the point in and up in your lower abs. focus on keeping the upper body loose, it can be difficult because you are isolating the muscles, give it time..
A question about this exercise: I noticed that when I pulled up on the point below my bellybutton to contract that muscle, I automatically contracted in my inner thighs too. I'm able to keep my back connected without arching or pressing down. Should the contraction be totally isolated?

After only holding this muscle for about 30 seconds it feels quite sore and feels like this for a while afterwards. I think it is because this is a muscle that I don't often exercise. I just wanted to know if this means it's working?

Hi, That muscle is called the transverse abdominal muscle, also called the TA.

That's a great techhnique! Can you get the same result by putting a heavy object on your TA.? Like a bowling ball for instance?

Try isolate it as much as possible, but this sounds already like a good start... Keep at it, you'll be able to isolate it soon!
