We are in Afghanistan in an IMPROPER way. Consider the true goal: to kill mullah omar, alqaida, etc. so that they are no longer a threat to the USA. SO: FORGET the nonsense of "winning hearts and minds" Who gives a damn?? As long as the threat is eliminated: THAT is the goal. HOW TO DO IT?? MASSIVE DRONE PRESENCE!! I'm not a big Michael Savage fan. That said he hit this one on the head. The hypocrisy of the left on the war in Afghanistan now that Obama is in office stinks to high heaven. Obama hasn't even done anything different in Iraq. Bush had already negotiated a status of forces agreement that called for a pull out of combat troops in 2010. And Obama is accelerating the Afgan war and expanding wars into Pakistan and Yemen. Yet the left only seems interested in protesting for healthcare.

Nuke ownership by a narco terrorist? Afghanistan doesn't have nukes. Pakistan does. And we've made the problem in Pakistan worse by the way we coddled up to the corrupt leadership there and ignored the ties they had to terrorists. Thankfully the new government in Pakistan is (somewhat) working against the Taliban and we should applaud those efforts. Instead we're undermining them with air strikes that kill civilians.

@rtfm767 Do you realize that our "allies" in Pakistan are in bed with the Taliban and have been from the beginning? That has changed some since the fall of Musharraf, but the ISI still has deep Taliban connections. Because of that you'll never totally defeat the Taliban because they can always cross the border into Pakistan. The country in the region that hates the Taliban the most is Iran. They joined the U.S. led coalition to oust the Taliban. But we spit on them.

@sedlingati So? Those who voted for Obama did so by in large because they thought he would be antiwar. They assumed the "timelines" talk was just about placating part of the electorate. When I told people how Obama said we could stay in Iraq past 2013 and that Paul, Kucinich and Gravel were the only antiwar candidates a lot of people didn't believe me. Besides, NOBODY expected Obama to adopt the "surge" strategy in Afghanistan after attacking Bush for doing that in Iraq.

savage doesn't like ron paul, i forgot why. i remember he wasnt happy with ron paul's opinion on Pakistan and bhuto. i guess ron paul is too much of an isolationist for savage (he likes to call himself on non-interventionist instead but.... his policies are definitely isolationism.). savage believes that america has to engage in international politics, especially when nuclear weapons are involved, not some laissez faire attitude.
