i found the stage version so cringey i was blushing - you cant try and say that young peeps will find it funny cos im 14, and tho a great fan of the film this version made me want to cry! the kids were incredibly fake actors, and when hundreds of children would hav been dying for the roles how the hell did they end up with the bunch. Liesle looked around 26 and connie, though an amazing vocalist, seemed very cold. it was absolutly terrible and will stick to watching the dvd at home in future.

these kids are from the original cast(there were 3 groups of children). They are: Fredrich=Joe Cooper, Louisa=Poppy Lee Friar, Kurt=Piers Stubbs, Brigitta=Caroline Riley, Marta=Molly May Keston, Gretel=Alicia Gould. Liesl was played by 26 year old Sophie Bould. This is her understudy though. i think she is called Katie Bell.

I posted this elsewhere also, but just to clarify--Connie does six shows per week. Aoife does two. Aoife was not the runner-up on the TV show (although I think she should have been). She finished fourth. Sophie played Maria when Connie was sick, and was the alternate before Aoife came in. Sophie is back to playing Liesl, and I assume she's still the Maria understudy, but Connie is now back doing six shows. I think Connie is an awesome Maria, and I wish I could see the show.

Connie Fisher isn't playing Maria as much anymore, and the girl who is playing the eldest daughter doesn't actually play the eldest daughter. The girl who does is a girl called Sophie Bould and now she is playing Maria and she used to go to my school and she is opening my schools new sixth form.
