Lopez I think had a rare blood clot disorder or something. And had anxiety attacks...the tours were too much apparently as they kept getting bigger and bigger in the months leading up to "Ghost Reveries" release. I don't think he was a druggie. But damn, I was lucky to see Lopez drum for them a couple times before Axenrot took over. He was fluid as hell...so smooth. The best Opeth drummer...

I was at this show and hanging with Opeth because I had an all access pass at that metal fest. Those strats were not their guitars. It was Opeth's first time in the USA and those were borrowed guitars. If I'm not mistaken, Mikael had to scrape off glow in the dark star stickers that were on the guitar so it didn't look completely lame. But their normal guitars back home were Jackson V's then I think. no prs yet. It was an amazing moment to see Opeth and I'll never forget it.

At this point Mike had his CE-24, and Peter seemed to be using his '74 LPC a lot. So at the very least mike was using PRS at this time. The reason they're playing strats is because that has problems getting the gear they wanted, not because they loved strats.
