Thank you for taking the time to tape and post this. It's very helpful and inspiring fot those of us who are studying piano - particularly if we're working on this piece. I hope you post more videos.
What he is playing isn't what Puccini played. Before the full orchestra (orchestration) was composed, Puccini composed the piano part. What I don't understand is why he didn't sell to Ricordi his own piano version, but only the full orchestra and the righs to arrange it to piano.
............very special .. brings back very dear memories of another time around the piano....sharing the spirit ..... a toast andrew..... john lyric pines
This is a favorite of mine. I am learning this on the piano myself and this is very inspirational to me. Beautiful playing...I enjoy your video clips.
In the opera Puccini uses a full orchestra. In addition to the usual instruments he adds a harp. Although this started off as a simple piano piece it grows into a major 'number' in the opera. You will find the opera version on youtube or at least someone singing with full orchestra.
