Very good job, Geoff! I love this song I knew played by the Beach Boys, but I don't know who wrote it. Must be a popular and traditional one, I guess.
I'd really love to please you with a bit of funny humiliations, but it would be forced. So I'll wait for a new chance. :-) Thanks for sharing this.
Ha!Ha! Was that an intentional put-down, Paolo? Suggesting that there would be plenty of other opportunities to humiliate me! lol
Come to think of it, I remember the Beach Boys singing it. I notice from the 'related video' column, that it has been covered by a number of famed singers - apart from myself, of course!
This is geographically impossible, as Texarkana is about 30 miles north of the Louisiana border, So I think you were singing it down in Old South Chester.
LOL I read your words on the side.. but actually this was Great the way it was.. so no bad critcks from this girl.. I really like your song, your videos and your Humour!!!
kool tune to cover Geoff, I tried to learn how to play banjo but my fingers just did not get it, so I sold it. the sounds of the guitar and banjo were pretty good, true the overall sound is not the best but hey, you put it together and did it, kudos to you. great job man.
Thanks for your encouragement. I never mastered the banjo but like my twelve-string I felt I should n't waste it. I'll try to use it again. i think I will put the experiments on the myspace channel
though, as I said a few comments down, I just love playing with sound even if I don't have the best toys....and no playmates! (could use a viiolin here but can't play that either! lol)
Hi bro. that was really GREAT man. love that song, heard it i think over 1000 times in my live. Excellent version, love the harmonika in it too! i have to learn to play the harmonika next time, puhh, Christmas is over now. this song we need on our world tour Geoff. love it! Greetings from Germany, CHristopher
You are right, Karl-Heinz but but I just enjoy tinkering. I like the sound of harmony and different instruments working together. I still remember your 'battle-ship' joke so I try to be more sparing with the reverb reverb reverb!
Very cool Geoff... I see you are getting some use out of those new instruments! When ever i hear this song I remember a version from an old Bootleg Beatles LP I have... John Lennon is doing the singing (I believe) and adding some of his "own" (shall I say) creative lyrics...HA!
I watched a documentary on Abbey Road recently and there was a lot of improvised music and humour. I also liked the way that they sometimes had to struggle to get it right. Good old George Martin!
I think this was awesome! I think it looks cool as hell, the sound is "organic," and your talents are inspiring.
Regarding your comments -- I could engage you with a substantive and expansive ten thousand plus word discussion -- but the bottom line is -- if it works, don't fix it.
Gosh this is a different fom the uber-cool 'DREWNetwork' Drew. I thought you liked it until doubt was cast in my mind that the 'organic' could be 'organic as in animal fertilizer'. Hmmm?
I appreciate the final comment. Sometimes I can get an effective look and sound but I would love to attain that 'studio' quality you and many others seem to get. Thanks for sparing me the extensive ten thousand words! Ha-ha!
I love your videos how they are Geoff - you needn´t explain yourself! Everything is perfect because everybody can hear the passion for music in your vids!
You always see through my little schemes, Sabine. Doh!
You are right though. I do enjoy recording and playing. This video came from an urge to pick up my banjo and try playing again. It was after hearing a banjo in the background on Brendan Behan's version of 'Liverpool Lou.'
I think I'll play banjo while I'm listening to your music! x
Like the touch of a newborn's lock's of hair and the soft breeze that ripples the waters at the sea side, your refreshing and rejuvenating musical showcase had a very calming and life-affirming affect...making for a profound and rewarding listening experience that of which encourages me get in touch with my innermost feelings...to not sweat the minute aspects, but rather to look at the big picture in the journey of life.
Hey Geoff, I think its soundfs great and well produced! I am in the same boat and would like to know what people use and such. I have noty a clue except my webcam and moviemaker - and I suck at that but like you say - Its all fun! Well done! (Oh and I like your discovery on how to play the harp!)
Ha-ha! and I've just discovered harp-playing sucks too!
Glad I'm not the only one gets frustrated. There are so many really clever videos out there. Drew from DREWNetwork who has some pristine videos (sound and visual) suggested a digital recorder which when I looked at the price was within my pocket but my wife doesn't agree - I guess she loves me warts and all! lol Your advantage over me is that you have that rugged youthful look! Hell! Don't think I'm coming on to you here!! LOL
LOL,, rugged perhaps, but i have some pretty nice bags under my eyes, and my laugh wrinkles have also gotten pretty deep. Must be something about Bennett wives that control what our toys should be eh? -chuckle-
Forced to flit perhaps..... but not because of the mine I fear. LOL, and we like tea - just not the kind that is popular over there - more like the mountain tea that is made by fermentation rather than soaking! :-D
I bet the Bennett medicinal recipe goes down well - followed swiftly by the drinker.
when my son was working for Camp America the kids called him Tea-Dog and he ran tea-making sessions on his duty day. The boss got them to throw him in the lake at the end of the vacation. The guy didn't know you are 'sposed to warm the lake before you put in the tea!
Thanks Luie but the trick is to think you are playing a guitar and then its easy..........mind you I was strumming the harmonica for some time before I realised this plan doesn't always work!
In the end, after some needless frustration, I just said ....BLOW IT!
as you know Ive been tryin the Harmonica and you just shed the most light that i have seen..all this time ive been strokin it and i should be blowing it WOW!

I was thinkin' of just going down to the skinny-dipping pool with a a stick, a length of twine and a wire hook from Grandma's stays.
You could jump in to break the ice and start them fish biting then we could jam all night around a twiggy fire with a fish turning on the spit.

I think of Neil Young when I listen to this song. The Great Neil YOUNG who was born in 1947. And with the harmonica it is OK.
