@Roadball - the current V12 7 series runs about 12.5 in the quarter and tops out at around 150 MPH, getting 13/19 EPA MPG. And costs $137K. A '95 Impala SS runs 15-ish in the quarter, has a top speed of 146-147 (drag-limited), gets 15/23 MPG, and can be purchased in great condition with very low miles for about $10K.

So, you spent $120K to go about two MPH faster and get 2-4 fewer MPG. I'm not sure that counts as economical.

Though, for the record, my '95 Caprice Wagon (Imala w/ an extra couple hundred lbs of steel and glass) runs a 13.6 quarter with only minimal bolt-ons (3.42:1 rear, PCM reprogram, cat-back, shift kit, air filter, 245/45R17 tires). I'm pretty sure it'd cost under $100K to get that extra second. :D

Though, I also have a BMW (albeit a little 3 series), and they're definitely nice in their own way. The interior is way better, for example. :)

@meedic Amusingly, I just got an E38 740i. It's a nice car, though the dead pixels in the dash aren't so cool, nor are all of the other little problems. More gadgets, to be sure, but it cost >$70K new. It's funny - driving it, I was mentioning to my wife that it feels nearly identical to my Impala SS. Handle + shift pretty much the same (I prefer the Chevy; the lag between gears in BMW sucks even in sport mode). The seats and stock stereo in the BMW are better, though. I think I need an M5. :)

@Roadball there not cheaply made just dont hold up well to a hit, i totaled one in my 91 corolla, the front fender is pushed into the tire and my car had a cracked light case on the signal lights the lights worked for a bit then the other day a cop told me there burnt out so now its in the shop getting new ones and now i gotta drive my chevy :(
