I have tried communicating with the spirit using other methods but the most i have gotten is a recording of heavy breathing which I got when I was alone and felt a presence and left the recorder alone.

This thing works, me and my buddy made one last night, followed all the steps they said in the "how to" video. We tried to contact his grandpa, but we ran into a different spirit, called itsel Heri Oderus, and it said it was good(thank god) but when we asked why it was here it said goodbye, we tried again and asked "would you like to be left alone?" and it said yes, so we stopped. We were thinking about doing it again later, give it a week or two, but is that a good idea?
