@PanzerMonium This is an enhanced/improved version of the A340-300E(nhanced) which was already an improved version of the A340-300.

@PanzerMonium It's the same. The 313X has something to do with the interior layout as far as I am aware.

1 for the engine manufacturer (CFM International)

3 for the specific engine (CFM56-5C4)

x for the improved version with higher maximum takeoff weight

@blablubb12345 No. A 340-313X stands for 3 ( the standard version ) and 13 is the manufacturer nr. for the customer , in this case Swiss . X stands for better performance ( higher take off wight and 350NM more range with the same cargo )

Nope, that would be the Boeing sheme. Airbus refers to the engine and not to the customer in their numbering, Lufthansa, for example, also operates the A340-313(X).

The A340-300 has not yet failed in its consistently proving itself as both incredibly slow at climbing and taking off. Oddly enough, this is one of the reasons I want to fly it so much.

Take-off rolll 69 seconds! That must have been one heavy aircraft and the weather at Sao Paulo hot and humid, for weather affects take-off roll and climb performance
