There is a perfect way to do it in my country. Here if you do like you did, after some months, the company comes to your house, change the meter and if it differs somehow of previous months, they chargeback you. The way I know they can even change the meter and they will not notice.

Now usually meter-man back home was very accurate and would only show-up on the first of the mount, so you know when hell be there. The first way to do this is to bypass the wheel on the meter, so the electricity does not go through the meter and simply that counter stands still (the wheel does not turn). And the second way (favorite method) is to inverse the way on counter so the wheel on the meter will go backward.

Yes, my dad used to do this back home (Europe). It is very easy and there are two ways how to do it. Back home in our houses was no seal on meters only cabinets with a key. Inside the cabinet is meter and when we build a new house we mould steel cabinet in concrete of outer wall on first level of the house. You give one key to your electric provider and you keep one for yourself in case of emergency (fire inside the cabinet, etc.)

nice, but you got to hide a lag switch to activate it periodicly. pull the meter so you've got no current passing through, then hide wires behind the screw and remote mount them somewhere, then put it back together, that way you can have a hidden switch to turn your meter on and off. if you just turn it off all the time, you'll get flagged quick and busted, the trick is to still have some usage being shown, cheap electric!!
