  • Too cool! The combination of reggae beats, electronic keyboards, simple yet catchy guitar riffs, all backed by sassy vocals from a beautiful blonde are strangely prescient of a band called No Doubt. Sorry, Gwen, but Blondie did it first. And better!

  • I love Nigel's bass work...so fine!

  • Forever associate this song with Gia Carangi

  • ok. as a big blondie fan and a big pot head, how come ive only just noticed this videos big reefer?!

  • @kevsickboy Are you waiting for the reefer to arrive, or just to die by the hand of love?

*Yes, I know that's not the lyric

  • @pootzie haha :)

  • I love this song, I love all of Blondie's songs XD

  • I wish I could drum like Clem. He is so damned good.

  • Debbi is such a badass

  • its hard to believe she was 35 years old when this was recorded.

  • Fuck all the people that says "Im 15, 14, 16 and i hate the modern music" !!!!

  • i love this video and song.

  • classic what more can i say, was a fan of Debbie Harry and Blondie.......

  • This was the era of the first modern music video no one really spent big bucks on videos. ELO and Blondie were the first two bands to release video albums in 1979. Video took off in the 80s with MTV. I think Bowies Ashes To Ashes was the first big budget video made in 1980 for 250,000 Then Visages Fade To Grey (which both stunning at the time). Then Duran Durans videos took over the world with help from MTV playing every video they made over and over... MTV become the Devil from then on.

  • When my aunt died I made sure this was the last song played at her funeral. I don;t think anyone got it though. We will both love Blondie forever.

  • @CarbonBlonde sad to know about your aunt, but it's awesome that this song was played at the funeral, i have already a playlist of song i want to be played at my funeral, i dont want nobody to cry!

  • debbie invented the 1980´s fashion.... bright neon colors the whole thing..am i right or what?

  • @EnjoyTheSurface Yes you are correct and the most amazing thing is she invented 80's fashion while she was still in the 70's. She was way ahead of her time!

  • @doetim I think it you look at Debbie's fashion from the 70s/80s you see it around today she was decades ahead of time but because people were influenced by people who come after Debbie. Then they believed that person was responsible for it.Believe me she was way ahead in her fashion people were she taken aback when she first appeared on tv there really was no one like her.

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • She is so cute and fuckable

  • My god she was hot, she just smoulders, every other female rock/pop artist after blondie are just pretenders, she's hotter than them all and didnt need to dance around half naked to be that way. A lesson for the new gen i think.

  • Whaat? next generations are gonna listen Ga Ga, just like we are listening Blondie as well now!

  • .. Great!!

  • Well the no smoking thing hasn't gone so well!

  • @sabbatha1 yeah, like me i'm a girl from the gaga generation and i feel bad for myself. lucky the music of blondie stays forever! but i wish i grew up with it...

  • RIP FELIPE CAMIROAGA

  • 21 people will die old and stay ugly.

  • @wiresxandxwaves So freaking right! hahaha

  • excuse me, but pretty or not as soon as you die maggots WILL pour out of your eyez :| not that pretty after all

  • @CatalinD88 which is why it will be incinaration for me

  • Time has not been kind to her.

  • im 10 and i wish i had blondie growing up but shes like 65 years old or somthin

  • @3chanmoo Well even a used Mercedes has leather seats.

  • @3chanmoo so

  • @3chanmoo Don't worry about that little future babe ;) I listen to music much older and I can tell you that Blondie is worth while listening to. It's good you have divirsity in your listening habits. Do you play an instrument? If so, maybe I will see you in Juilliard. Sweet dreams.

  • @3chanmoo Yeah, right... i´m 2

  • @3chanmoo haha :p but you kinda still have her. she's all yours to listen to now :)

  • It seems that Gwen Stefani saw this video.

  • R.I.P Amy Winehouse !

  • AMY WINEHOUSE........1983 - 2011 Young Enough?

    R.I.P.

  • my daughter doesnt really like music these days

  • she is right but only in her songs , not in her artistic life

  • walking home on E.3rd street..........

  • I Love You Debbie!! In Portuguese, ADORO-TE DEBBIE!!!

  • @Daky1001 Debbie is going to live forever!

  • This SLipknot....before they fired the lead singer and got Coery Taylor.

  • I'm 14! Love Blondie! Love for youth! I'd rather die young and stay pretty!

  • @BlondiEmilio Ok, then kill yourself if you don't get any disease or someone else to kill you.

  • @valericool You're so freaked out! It is just a reference to the song, a harmless comment! Take life easy...

  • @BlondiEmilio I just tried to help, sorry.

  • @valericool I'm sorry if I sounded rude. I thought you were being rude or mean with my comment. Sorry! Friends? :)

  • @BlondiEmilio Lol, ok. Sorry that I seemed rude, I didn't mean to be mean. God bless you.

  • love this song so much and debbie!

  • All of you.

  • Love you<3

  • @TheChuckk ach well each to their own eh......if thats your taste. whats gorgeous to you might be dogs to me :)

  • WTF was that?

  • most beautiful woman I have ever seen......and I'm a woman.........rock on Debbie

  • @Aaronwelchmusic Must suck to have lived 18 years without Blondie.

  • Several of the videos (like "Shayla" or "Accidents never happen") start with squares like the top of Eat to the beat and end up with a picture of a member, why is it so? Is perhaps part of a special or vhs or something? if someone know, please tell me

  • @cbaguns There were videos made for every song on the record and released as home video "album."

  • Debbie is gonna die old and pretty.

  • @Daky1001 Wait, wait, wait... Debbie is going to die someday? O_o

  • @Psykel Nope.

  • I'm an 18 year old guy in a modern metal band and I discovered Blondie today. All is good

  • @AaronWelchMusic ...you lucky, lucky lad....you've years of material to appreciate - and hopefully cover.

  • @AaronWelchMusic unbelieveable!!! crazy world

  • @AaronWelchMusic Perhaps you agree or not, but what I think when I listen to Blondie and other similar groups (in those times), is that they didnt needed to spend a lot of money on videos and efxs, cause the music was REALLY good.

  • @SuperPais I kind of agree, there used to be a lot more focus on music and creativity than image, I wish all music could take the same approach as this, there's no point in spending millions on a music video if the music is awful :P

  • @AaronWelchMusic :-))) Cool. We were headbangin' to metal when we weren't listening to this.

  • She Didn't...

Still fantastic live though.. & hot considering her age... :-)

  • @sabbatha and Katy Perry,Rihanna,Britney Spears,Beyoncé etc

  • down with Gaga and up with debbie harry. Im livin in the past

  • @A4est Sounds good.

  • This song was written around 1974. It was meant as an ironic comment on the "live fast, die young" attitude of the NYC rock scene. It would be hilarious if they perform it now because it also works as a big kiss off to the anxieties of getting older, especially in something as youth obsessed as rock music.

  • The irony of this song is both intentional and unintended, as Blondie was already well into her thirties in 1979. She was a sexy chick no doubt (not the band) but no spring chicken.

  • how come ll the late '70's-early '80's worshipping hipster bands don't ever wanna try to get real authentic and play some pseudo reggae?

  • @prinznevsky-What about ska?

  • Moon the Loon and Clem Burke were the best drummers of their generation.

  • @rothkowitz I can't help but agree with that statement. It's pitch perfect. Nicely stated.

  • I always loved the song and hated sentiment.

  • such a perky cheerful melody with an uplifting message to match.

  • Tremendo faso tiene Chris Stein en 1:51!!!

  • before madonna, there was and still is debbie harry.

  • Wish mtv was still anything like this...

  • @MegaRockstare Not necessarily, some old people are real assholes.

  • @MegaRockstare I'm sorry too. I'm so used to people on here being mean for no reason, I took it the wrong way.

    :(

  • @MegaRockstare

Bite me. I'm a grown ass woman and I'll say what the FUCK I want. My KID is older than your little fuck ass.

  • Gwen Stefani definately influenced by Debbie Harry

  • 15 inadaptados hijos de lady caca

  • This obviously inspired No Doubt & Gwen.

  • Viva debby !!!!!

  • We played this at my aunts funeral at the end. We will both love Blondie forever.

  • CaramelCamel grow up

  • My jealous girlfriend told me not to watch any more "Blondie" or Debbie Harry......what do I do?...... Am I not allowed to look at ART or anything beautiful ever again?

  • @kennethj1956 ur gf sucks

  • @kennethj1956 Grow a set of balls. I'd put a penthouse over her face while i banged her and then swipe money from her purse to get drunk at the strip club.

  • @kennethj1956 she's that insecure? lol dump her.

  • @kennethj1956 tell he to keep her fucking trap shut.

  • @kennethj1956 - Brotha, you need a new GF.

  • This must have inspired No Doubt!

  • Love Debbie but never saw this until now!

  • The most beautiful BLONDIE ever!!!

  • I'm so grateful to have had Blondie growing up as a girl. Poor young girls of today have Ga Ga and Ke$ha.

    :(

  • @sabbatha1 why do you say that about Gaga?

  • @MaaU15 Actually Ga Ga is growing on me a little. Ke$ha NEVER will she just flat out sucks balls.

  • @sabbatha1 I think Gaga is pretty good, but " Ke-DOLLAR SIGN- ha " isn't.

  • @sabbatha1 sorry, but I think Lady Gaga have really nice lyrics, talking about love youserlf and being original, I think she's a great artist and she's got a lot of talent, If you don't belive me you should listen one of her acoustics, I recomend you Foolded me again ;)

  • @GirlPunkRocker6

surely Gaga is a great musician.

She deserves a gold-covered grave between Freddie Mercury and Mozart.

  • @sabbatha1 gaga and kesha aren't all there is and aren't the fav among most young adults.A Keys ,Taylor Swift,Pink,Mary J Blige,Eve, I can go on and on ...Don't discount true talent ,heart , and soul based on a couple pop artists that you don't care for, it's not fair to the ones who are good role models.

  • @jadedmoons All of those artists are the same. The point was that we don't have anybody like Debbie these days.

  • @JohnnyLovely2 okay she is still around and all of the artists I named are sure not the same.

  • @sabbatha1 Thank you for feeling sympathy for me :(

I say I was born in the wrong generation! I just spend my time listening to 80s music I think it's much more real than the shit we have now :|

  • @LilRibbonMonster

In the old days you had to know how to sing and play an instrument.

  • @sabbatha1 you have a really good memory since you were very very young when she first came out ; hmmm ok i hear ya though and agree:)

  • @sabbatha1 But they still have Adele, Sheryl, and a few other great singers that are above the garbage the "big guys" throw up at us...

  • @sabbatha1 makes me thankful I had my parents :)

  • @sabbatha1 i would be stuck in terreble rap had my dad not showed me artsts like blondie :)

  • @sabbatha1 gaga is pretty good compared to kesha though.

  • @sabbatha1 i grow up listening to blondie & im 20

  • @sabbatha1 i grow up listening to blondie & im 20

  • @sabbatha1 There's nothing wrong with Gaga! just becasue she's poplar today does not mean she's bad. read her song lyrics, there's much more beyond her than it seems. but really, Kesha is bad, i can't really diffend her. sorry bout my english and spelling

  • @the2009guy I agree with you about Gaga, she's not that bad in fact she's pretty talented for writing all her songs and playing instruments. Debbie was an amazing songwriter, lyricist to be exact.

Kesha really is HORRIBLE! She's not better or worse than Shitney either, they are as talentless as a performer can get!

  • @doetim I'm glad you agree :) but i think you have to write your own songs if you want to be called an artist. and you have to sing live like she does if you want to be called a preformer. Still, i think Kesha's also an artist but i think her songs are less than decent, at the very least. on the other hand, I never loved an artist before like Lady Gaga, she's a great insperation to me, she even inspired me to play the piano like she does, so i started to take leasons sometime ago :)

  • @doetim Wouldn't be surprised if Gaga did something I like sometime;hasn't yet;it still sounds like repetitive noise. Amy Winehouse was one of the few recent fem. artists that had talent comparable to DH, but she took the advice in this song literally. Now I feel cheated whenever an Adel song comes on, sounds a bit like Winehouse, but not as good. It amazes me that anyone voluntarily listens to Kesha, Britney or Katy Perry. Hopefully, Blondie might make a chart comeback; they still sound great.

  • Blondie = Pop. Not ashamed to say I fell in love with her. She started at CBGBs in NYC. It was called New Wave - a post punk genre. The Ramones were another band from the same time and place.

  • Am I the only one who remembered this while watching pretty little liars

  • Hey, stop bogarting that blunt!

  • Great tune!

  • Interesting to hear what Blondie sounded like in Reggae. You only ever hear about them when they go "disco" with Heart Of Glass", etc.

  • @madcapromanian Have you not heard of their most famous reggae song "The Tide is High"? Search for it.

  • @doetim Of course! I actually have an old Blondie Cassette with that song on it, as well as others. But this is the first time I've heard "Die Young, Stay Pretty".

  • @madcapromanian She sings rhythm and blues and big band, and hip-hop on Autoamerican.

  • ain't that the truth.

  • "Punk steals bus, hits five on wild ride"

  • funy how some people here are so obsessed with youth and beauty. as if we dont all age

  • their coked out album

  • Just Awesome, this gal will always stay pretty.

  • This gal beat breast cancer, got some cosmetic surgery, dropped a few pounds and looks fabulous at 60!

  • @Mikebird59 You're not talking about Debbie, are ya? She never had cancer, and she's 65 now.

  • @xXPinkGoddessXx And still hot.

  • @Mikebird59 Debbie never had breast cancer, you must be thinking of someone else.

  • Die Young and Stay Pretty

Till the Maggots Get the Munchies...

  • This song reminds me of No Doubt haha.

  • wow this must have been a huge influence for no doubt

  • Hard to believe Debby is an official senior citizen now! :-)

  • @FishStone168 yeah :) lol

  • God, they were so high in this video lol! Great times!

  • Gwen Stefani owes her existence to this woman.

  • My fave Blondie song ever cuz it is so wicked sounding

  • what a great girl,, songs r just brill and vidios even btr

  • blondie forever!

  • Saw Blondie about a month ago . Great show !! What I really liked was that the band seemed to be having lots of fun

  • @dan508 woah! She's still touring? AWESOME!

  • deteriorate in your own time?

    haaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Gwar makes an appearance at 1:38.

  • These guys are punk rock in this video.

  • i love Blondie <3

  • @SuperGirlMeow

One of the best bands ever.

  • she should have followed her own advice on this one. but really , i love her new work. she doesnt look to bad now a days either but not to good to be fair. well not this good lookin' anyway.

  • @raynard88666 oh come on, deborah ist 65 years old now. it's pretty unfair to compare her current looks to those from 30 years ago

  • Its sad. No more awsome singers like her now days.

  • @sheldonmurphy1

Emily Haines from Metric resembles Blondie alot.

  • ahhhhhh chris stein actually looks ike his mask lol haha

  • lol this is so.....weird.

  • I would what Deborah Harry thinks of lyrics now that she is close to qualifying for social security and Medicare.

  • @kirkzimpfer-They wrote this around 1974/75 as an ironic comment on the "live fast, die young" attitude of the NYC rock scene, so you are taking the song too literally. In reference to the comment above, having this song at my funeral may not be a bad idea. Leave them guessing.

  • :) imo, their finest hour...

  • Had a dream I was making out with Debbie... I remember she tasted like a peach... When I woke up I wanted to kill myself because it was just a dream... I should have... at least I would have died young and stayed pretty ;p

  • I love when she's smoking the giant blunt!!!! lol Blondie is the BEST.

  • god, i love this.

  • Ha, this song was my motto, along with David Bowie's "All the young dudes". I am 48 now, so much for that.

  • @badjed

lmao. That has to be my favourite comment ever xD

Great song, brings back so many memories <3

  • @badjed

LMAO,this song was perfect for singing with a drink in one hand.

  • @badjed I can certainly understand...but it was jean genie for me

  • Ha, this song was my motto when I was a teenager, this and All the young dudes, by David Bowie. I'm 48 now. So much for that.

  • i have been on this earth many years never have i seen a more beaujtiful woman!!

  • My sister always said this "die young stay pretty". she did die at the age of 31.
