I don't believe you can get whatever that item is. This is probably a hack of the game due to the fact that Final Fantasy VII was never released in Japan with two of the weapons. I believe they were US and UK exclusive. Unless I didn't get the memo and the PSN version includes them for the Japanese version.

@midnafan3 First off, Emerald and Ruby Weapons ARE in the re-release of Final Fantasy 7 International, which is the version shown in the video.

Second, the Items he used were Hero Drinks, which do exist in the game, but are extremely rare through normal means. They increase the stats of whoever it is used on. Which really helps with Barrets Ungarmax. which is rather weak. The drinks were needed so that Barret could deal out more damage when his limit was used.

There are two type of counter materias: yellow and blue. I haven't found either is able to allow you to counter with a limit break.

"counter" (blue colour) materia needs to be paired with another materia and will let you counter using an attack from whatever materia that you paired it with.

The yellow version of the counter materia usually has your character counter with a regular attack and not a limit break.

Oh well that does make sense. hehe.

When I fought this boss, I used the w-item trick and mime so that I had a continuous supply of mega-elixirs and hero potions. Use them to keep boosting and healing, use limit breaks and repeat.

Of course if I knew about this trick /method back then, I would have used that instead.

even with magic pots and movers and triple AP weapon, AP grinding for KoTR was such a pain.

If I had to grind for AP vs enemies which give less amount than the pots -- ugh no way.

It's so easy just master mime 3 times give 1 mime to each of your 3 party members then have 1 party member use the *Knights of Round* summon and have the other party members mime it DUH

DUH doing this you'd only have three knights of the round. A few blows from emerald would kill you or make you recover meaning you'd have your mime broken as well.

You have to have SummonW and KOTR at least at level 2, then you kill it with 12 KOTR, meaning two rounds, still your stats must be a bit high

Its not unbeatable on ps1 version. after about 40 tries i managed to beat him. Lvl 99 cloud, cid and vincent. have cloud use full materica (mid row) cid use mster dbl cut with the venus gospell, and have vincent constanly heal. Also try to find the speed sources, as they increse the speed your attack bar fills up. Note it is still a very hard battle. I had knights of the round and w-summon and still took 40 tries. But it can be done.

This person had a cheat of some sort. My friend has this game. You don't get 8 turns in a row, take very little damage and kick its ass. It goes twice each time your guy goes once and does no less the 8000 to each guy. it can't be beaten without 777.

Ok well if you want to beat Emerald the newb way this is what he's saying.

Use w-item to put 2 hero drinks on barret.

In barrents Materia stock put in multiple combos of Counterattack-Mime ... Emerald hits you and you counterattack with whatever ability was previously used (in this case it was barret LB) ... The crap part is ... the # of combinations you have stocked will be the number of times you counter attack whenever you are attacked by a SINGLE hit.
