  • how much voltage does this create?????

  • love the blades. Cut from 6" PVC pipe? great design!

  • great video and fine one piece blades

    andy

  • Nice !! :)

  • @erik374

    Thanks!

  • I had a old printer and it had a motor but not like that its kinda like a oval it has a tag that says 30 volts 0.7amp dose it do the same as the one put up or better?

  • @pspplayer21 : Probably do better, but difficult to say. It depends on the kind of motor (stepper, brushless, brushed)... All motors with magnets could do the job. The best you can do to test this, is to short circuit the connectors of the motor. Try then to rotate the shaft with your fingers ... the counter force of the motor will give you an idea of the power that could be generated ... the harder the better.

  • hi, i have a Type 17PM-k021-13V panini stepper motor, i looks like yours, i wanna do a wind turbine with this, can u tell me the output of your turbine ?? tnx

  • @kenoki007 : Hi. I haven't tested the max power output ... but it's really small. A few leds are OK, but like a light bulb from a bike, might already fail to burn. (depending on rotation speed). So: Let's guess: 1 Watt maybe. :)

The stepper motor was from an old floppy disk drive.

I'm actualy quite dissapointed in the power output of those stepper motors. Even bigger ones from a laser printer were not spectacular.

    .

Wish you better luck with your experiments.

  • @Ecolomeus but, what about to charge a battery ??

  • @kenoki007 :

Well, I think it can charge "slowly" a battery (when motor is rectified with diodes). When you measure the voltage of the stepper motor without load, it reaches easily voltages of 12V... (actually 40..50 V peak can come out ). Hence it can charge a small battery (eg: 12V SLA battery of 5Ah might be nice to test). And since the amps are low, it might work without any additional electronics (but it's better and safer with some battery charging circuit).
