  • Cool hair but it flows too slowly

  • it's like shes in water

  • Thanks Ian, I hate you.

I was walking out the door into pitch blackness and it's ice cold outside and I hear an email arrive on my phone. So I look at the email and couldn't figure out what the HELL this was about since I made that comment 4 months ago... so I click the link to the video and it's ice cold and pitch black and wouldn't you know, creepy CGI Sadako with blonde hair is shrieking at me from the screen, in the darkness. (well actually it was ME doing the shrieking but whatever)

  • Square enix should want this for the next final fantasy

  • Lovely hair...

Shame about the face though... looks like... I dunno, like Sadako from Ringu.... or any other japanese horror movie with some long black haired japanese ghost girl.... if I saw this face in a dark alley I'd die screaming of a heart attack.

  • @StarwasterPrime I thought it was a tranny.

  • the hair looks like uncooked spaghetti i think

  • lol 0:49

  • that does not look like real hair, looks like a wig made out of, fake hair.

  • Shader <3

  • 20fps only to show hair with a gtx 400

  • tessellation!

  • COOL!

  • Yet we still get console ports...

  • Beautiful

  • looks like a wig..

  • SEPHIROTH TURN AROUND AND FIGHT ME FOR I AM CLOUD AND I HAVE COME TO DEFEAT YOU

-sephiroth turns around in slow mo and his hair goes in his face like a head and shoulders commercial-

    Sephiroth:I'm ready for youuuu~~

  • wow

  • CRYSIS 2 :D

  • Ok, now put it in a game.

  • Oh i'm getting the GTS 450 !!! :P

  • ROFL 0:40 BLOWJOB

  • it does looks like physx

  • NVIDIA WAY IS THE ONLY WAY

  • yeah they should move faster and they are moving to much

  • moving towards photorealism

  • That happens when Video Charakters use Head and Shoulders xD

  • @Cash4Woody LOL!

  • this is exactly why ATI will never be better than Nvidia

  • FUCK MEEEEE

  • Why do games never use technology like this is it fps consuming or something

  • Someone needs a cream rinse.

  • Even though this is an amazing advancement, the hair still looks like straw.

  • It looks amazing, But truth be. Add a fully detailed background and surroundings and you will get an unplayable game.

  • Please take a look at the Nalu Demo for Geforce 6800 (YES 6800). GPUs could do that since Shader Model 3.0. Developers are simply not using it.

  • @TrickyEmu maybe the performance to use it in real time is only now available?

  • @TrickyEmu

It uses tessellation in the hair simulation for dynamic geometry resolutions. Try getting tessellation on a 6800.

  • @phreeck988 Too bad, but Nalu used tessellation, too! And yes @WEKS87 Nalu is a real time demo. Tessellation has also been on GPUs since 6800 and x1600.

  • @TrickyEmu Everything i read says only SIMILAR METHODS were used back then.

If it was available back then to get graphics that look this good with low cost, don't ya think they'd use it? And why do today's cards have such a problem with it if it's been out for so long?

  • @phreeck988 We still can't use it in games. but I think they have this demo because it's now easier to animate hair than before. DX11 really brings no visual changes. It's all behind the scenes making it easier for programmers, designers and animators. What I read is that DX 11 requires less code than the former ones. This might also mean that those things run faster. Who knows.

  • @TrickyEmu I never remember ever having so many dx versions coming out so quickly and i kinda wish they'd slow down with this crap. Oh dx10 was sooo much better than 9... and so many games used that fancy volumetric smoke nonsense. It will turn out to be just like that. Nice to look at, but doubtful you will have the fps to enjoy it.

  • @TrickyEmu Oh and you basically right, back in the day the tessellation solutions they had were Truform (ati). It is a horrid primitive version of tessellation that required models to be made with it in mind and required much more work to make sure it didn't tessellate what wasn't supposed to be. The other being NVidia's quintic-rt. Which I have no clue what it does. Searched wikipedia for hardware tessellation.

The idea is old, but it sucked ass back then.

  • He should be a schampoo commercial guy....

  • PORNO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can't wait to play a dx11 game with this.

  • anyone else this the modle looks like a tranny.....anyone?

  • I'll come back in 3 years when this technology is perfected

  • It must be improoved. It reacts like if it was under water

  • @DJordydj its to show the effect better.

  • OH COME ON ))))do your own card hahahha with realistic hair xDDDD

  • Like the other said, the hair should move faster, for now they are just floating...

Have you ever see real hairs ? :/

  • yep the hair should move faster and fall harder because it is falling too softley and is floating too much

  • in my opinion the hair should move faster.

  • @ApostolhsSuper15

its a render. regardless of him saying its 'real-time' it is still slowed down to show you the tessellation with more clarity..

  • @ApostolhsSuper15 its in slowmo

  • @lokboxx it's ok then.in slow mo it looks like they float in the water :P

  • @ApostolhsSuper15 medium hair like this already packs a punch to the gpu like full game

  • @ApostolhsSuper15 they had to slow the framerate down ! other wise it either crash or the card itself go into flames

  • @fraction360 Nope. You can download the demo if you want and play it on your own machine. If you have a 400-series.

  • @ApostolhsSuper15 that's because you can see better the details ;D

  • @ApostolhsSuper15 yes its need sli

  • @ApostolhsSuper15 isn't it slow motion?

  • @ApostolhsSuper15

it seems to move slower because it's animating at about 1/2 speed.

though I can't help and wonder why every company is trying to make games look better but not play better, with new and interesting game play elements and challenges.

  • @ApostolhsSuper15 its slow motion to show the physics better

  • @ApostolhsSuper15 sli will fix the problem

  • @ApostolhsSuper15 Its like that for a reason.

  • @ApostolhsSuper15 you think, physicists calculate, that's the difference

  • Hair's a little creepy, more like underwater movement than in air..
