  • I think D. Kannan the ace cinematographer of Bharathiraaja (movies like Kadalora Kavidhaigal, Man vaasanai, Mudhal Mariyadhai were captured from his camera) has done the role of Buddha Bikshu. I bumped in to an episode of 'Hari Giri assembly' in Jaya TV and Mr. Kannan was the guest for that evening. I was stunned to see his unassuming character for his knowledge in this field. He is son of the yesteryear's director Bhimsingh. Old is always Gold!!

  • Who plays the Buddha Bikshu? Awful dialog delivery. The art-direction is so amateurish. Even college stage shows have better sets!!! Why can't they hire good designers to do sets. It doesn't have to be expensive to come up with appropriate 'period' sets! The only saving grace is the background music!

  • Hmmm...A little bit of effort from the directors side to understand the historical time period and the relevant sets would've saved this film from disgrace for sure.

  • Yes I agree that it needs no big money to do sets for a 11th century film, just a little thinking would reveal that only after moghuls the lavishness in buildings/jewellery came about before that even kings would have lived in much simpler buildings or dressed in simple ways. Some hindi movies like 'Utsav' created the appropriate sets which shouldn't have been costly.
