  • @MrAbbott26 I used Tom Fox tunning (714) 639-5220. You'll proly goin to replacing head gaskets soon. When I had the heads off this truck. I resealed the plenum gasket too.

  • What kind of turbo was that? I'm trying to find a turbo that I can use for my 98 Jeep with the 5.9l v8.... Want to hook it up remote style like this! I figure first step is to find a turbo, then find out about all the piping sizes I'll need

  • Love that sound, i would love to do that to my 5.9l 360, but how much did something like cost? I also am wondering if there's a way to hookup a turbo to get the sound, but not the extra power? Ive seen those cheap, exhaust clip on Turbo whistlers, but they dont sound good at all and look stupid.

  • take off that flowmaster and put in a straight pipe cause the turbo will spool quicker and produce more boost due to the improved and more efficient flow. That flowmaster is just causing turbulence/back pressure before the turbo which is exactly what you don't want. Just my two cents... Love the 360 though, that's for sure!

  • Not true, the turbo is the biggest restriction so muffler doesn't effect it. I'm afraid that packing from the muffler will go through the turbo and damage it. Thats why I use flowmaster. I also tried it without the muffler and it had no effect on performance

    that's very hard to believe since a flowmaster is probably the worst flowing off the shelf muffer you can buy (not talking about their race mufflers). I guess it doesn't effect your performance in this case since the turbo is so small. If you had a bigger turbo, you would see gains with the same about of boost but you would need to get rid of the muffler to see the full potential in a turbo'd setup.

  • @VQ35S14 This truck had close to 200,000 on it. I was told the head gaskets go at 9 psi. This truck blew one at 5 psi but I have a friend thats running 15 psi on her durango and hasn't popped one yet.

    Otherwise it's pretty cool!

  • Hi dude i got a 98 ram 360 i wana do this same thing on my truck and i was wondering what was all needed to do this...were did you get the intake cap for the throttle body.

    I heard that you need to chose at least 1 stage smaller for the same application of conventional turbo setup, is this true? BTW having a slightly laggier larger exhaust trim or A/R ratio gives bigger HP gains for the same boost as smaller turbos. But lag is hella fun :-) and it's not as if it is critical that you need instant response for hardcore hill corners and competitive racing!

  • Tap into an oil feed port of the engine. The engine will pump the oil to it.

  • A little but it isn't to bad. Going to a smaller exhaust housing woulda helped.

  • It was very easy! The hard part was 3 days later when it blew a head gasket and I had to pull the top end down.

  • Because it's nonintercooler I limited it to 5 psi. But it will go higher. On a test run a hose goin to the wastegate came off and it surged to 10 psi before I let off!

  • I got a pump from rbracing-rsr. Its the same as sts uses.

  • i'm not trying to all BS here but it sure sounded like it took forever to get threw 1st, and 2nd sounded like you were barley gaining rpm's.

  • The only time you can hear it shift is 2-3 shift. All others are drowned out but the turbo.

  • Does it make any difference if the muffler was mounted before or after the turbo?

  • It's better to mount it before. Any restrictions in the exhaust after the turbo will effect turbo lag. Best to use a chambered muffler or one with out packing. Packing can come lose and damage the turbo. I also used a 5" tail pipe. Gives the truck an awesome deep bassy sound.

  • Did you do anything for fuel management? Or was everything left stock?

  • It has 24# injectors and the computer was reflashed by PPH. There was also a resister that need to be wired in to the MAP sensor.

  • It bought it used. It originally came with a STS kit for a Chevy truck.
