It is toprock...Its just they're own style. Most of people's top rocks are their own style. If you copy someone elses then your a poser. Every Bboy knows that
for u doofus who dont kno wat is up/toprock. those are called "FREESTYLE". so pop or not doesnt matter. wat matter is ur style and hittin beats. -.-''
There are basics to toprock. Learn that first than start making up your own. If you master the basics, you know and can mimic other people's toprock with ease. And add on top to slap'em in the face-
Says you.. most good b-boys don't practice anything else but b-boying. I'm not hating on people that do funkstyles AND b-boying at the same time.. but it's kinda ignorant to say you won't get good because you don't do a different dance styles.
lol that is the one of the reasons why you need to learn more fundamentals. You can't even tell- and people who can't tell, won't know how to be good as to people who knows, that also do.
Oh yea, and a little side note: y'kno when he's just on one-foot hitting the song? Not the snare, but the song itself? Thas from popping- You can learn to do that from locking as well.
how are you gonna even say that? saying you won't be good at bboying because you don't pop as well is like saying you need to have CC's down just to be able to do windmills--it makes completely no sense.
..and what does the part where he is on one foot have to with poppin'? absolutely nothing, there is no resemblance to poppin' with that move he does. and i know what poppin looks like because i've seen plenty of it.
So what do you think he's doing when he's just standing on one foot, doing NOTHING with his legs/feet when he's just hitting the beat with his body and arms? Thas popping son- enough said.
...how is that popping? you're just looking for some excuse to include popping in your opinion. Anyone that DOESN'T pop could've just as easily done that in their tops. Don't try to come at me with some bullshit remark.
No thats not popping, Popping is the contracting of your muscles to create the illusion that your muscles are popping. He didn't pop once, infact he used a technique poppers use; i call it isolation (dunno what its really called); that doesn't mean hes popping don't speak on what you don't know
you won't win tough battles if you can't pop. if you battle a guy who can do everything you can do but he can also pop, he will roast you because you can't keep up.
you're guy's opinions are waaay off if you think POPPING is gonna help you win a BBOY battle. Don't say stupid crap like that. Judges look for BBOYING, they don't look to see how good someone pops.. that's what popping battles are for. If you pop while you bboy, then good for you.
Yea, I'm a popper, who bboys a little, and I'm going to have to agree with everyone in saying that all your opinions so far have been wrong.
Popping or any other dance can help your bboying, but assuming that he's good because he (might) pop, or stating that popping is fundamental to breaking is stupid, and terribly wrong.
foreverstrife...i culdnt have put it better myself...ive been popping for about a year and a half and ive been bboying for about 5 months now...popping is definitely not NEEDED in bboying...if u can pop while toprocking then that just adds to ur own style...like do-knock...his tops has some popping in it...but...
its definitely not "Pop-Rock" or w/e the hell u call it...just bc hes balancing on one foot and doing moves doesnt mean hes popping...i do that in bboying and i dont pop...its more of a stall to the beat or a taunt then anything...he might do a couple "pops" in the middle but that doesnt make it "Pop-Rock" and i dont even kno where u got that cuz "Pop-Rock" is def not a "fundamental" either
