@MiseryMissy At the time I made this video, the only way to homebrew enable a PS3 was to be on version 3.41 and use a jailbreak device. Going into factory service mode (as shown in this video) allowed anyone on 3.50 to downgrade to 3.41 and thus use a jailbreak tool.
@DracoAzule You can play games in Service mode, but anything requiring use of the hard drive (game saves or installations) won't work. Also, Blu Ray playback is disabled as well. Service mode is very limited to say the least. The best option to get out of it is to google for "PS3 downgrader files" and put the lv2diag.self file on the root of a USB stick and turn on the PS3 with the USB stick inserted. This will cause it to turn off automatically and go back into retail mode.
@generalpl0t Well when I mean semi bricked I mean people who have used outdated jailbreaking software on new firmware like 3.56. There's currently no way to fix it.
@illmatc Yup, but game saves don't work and not sure if it allows games to be installed either. They will load while in service mode, but functionality is iffy.

Not to be rude but, whats the point of doing this? To possibly downgrade the system version?

Can you actually play games in factory service mode?
I'm just wondering because I've seen a few people who have gotten their systems semi bricked and stuck in factory service mode.

@DracoAzule Ahh, gotcha. Yeah, using old service mode payload on any fw above 3.42 is suicide. D:

@generalpl0t Well at least I wasn't that dumb.
I don't even have a ps3. But I'm saving up.

@generalpl0t hey dude! SO it means that I can still play games on my ps3 3.56 stuck on service mode?
