So I downloaded cuteftp8, which I used before on an ipod touch, but I can't get it to connect to my 3g. The remote host actively refused the attempt to connect to it.All the previous steps are covered, I enter all the correct info, but I get the following errors
The remote host actively refused the attempt to connect to it.
or it will say the username/password is incorrect... any suggestions?
well thats a bit harder because the ipod touch 2g does not have a usage menu under general in the settings app. i don have an ipt, but ive heard of people getting it to work by editing another file. google "battery percentage on ipod touch" and click the mac rumors one titled "ipod touch battery percentage (like 3gs)".
Well actually the n82ap (3g) includes the m68ap(2g) file. So in theory you could edit the 2g and it would be included in the 3g. Anyways glad it worked for you!
I just tried to restore from the iPhone 1,2 .ipsw file linked in the description and my phone seems to get stuck at "preparing to restore". I'm using an iPhone 3G and the newest version of iTunes on a mac. Any tips?
its a jailbroken file, it just doesnt have cydia or installer, whcih are the programs that let you install 3rd party programs, but they seem to cause system stability problems, so some people would rather not have them.on windows just hold shift i believe and click resotore at the same time, then browse for file. on mac i think its control or command or one of those. it might not work so do this at your own risk.
After doing some Google-ing I downloaded the iPod robot plist editor for windows, but I don't see anything at all like the interface you were shown for yours with the Boolean check-boxes and such. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hey, I'm trying to do this on my PC (win 7) and I am using winSCP instead of cyberduck. I can follow you right up til the part where you do something to M68AP.plist. What exatly did you do to that file? BTW I have the 3g so I'm assuming I;ll do the same thing, just to N82AP.plist. Any suggestions?
nice vid. I use SBSettings to do the same thing, but it seems like it's been making my iPhone 3G run really slow. mainly the messages app. anyone else having that problem with jailbroken apps that use mobile substrate?
yeah man my first gen was jailbroken, my 3g was not, and my 3gs of course isnt. it seems to make everything run slower and makes it less stable in my opinion.
apps like cycorder and others that don't use mobile substrate seem to be fine, but SBSettings, Winterboard, and 5 Column Dock cause slowness, and overall wackness.
yeah and if i remember correctly wasnt mobile substrate the problem with skype when it first came out? with all the crashing, and cydia had the update for it. its just not stable. some cool apps like terminal and openssh are nice to have though
People who want the plist editor for windows, google this: "Free plist Editor for Windows 1.0 released!" without the quotes, and click the first link.
K nevermind, I got it to work with a windows plist editor. Thanks so much! Works perfectly! And to PosnocMedia, the bars are there because he recorded the video in portrait.
Very good quality camera on the new iPhone, but fuck, we are going to be seeing a lot of retardedly portioned videos from now on, YouTube should really allow another size video screen that automatically recognises iPhone uploaded videos, cus those fucking bars are ridiculous.
Don't worry mate, great video video and not a failing on your part, really Apple should lock video recording to the more conventional landscape, I mean they dont let you watch videos in portrait, so why allow capture in portrait.
Theres going to be a lot of data coming from iPhones to YouTube from this day forth, so it has to be fixed fast.
I had somehting like this, first jailbreak, enable sbsettings battery percentage and upgrade to 4.0 and you get to keep it.

Hey dude, sweet video, from now on though, record your videos in landscape modes so we dont see the black bars.

Just download SBsetting from cydia and then go onto more and slide to select numerical battery and it will show just like on the 3GS.

Yeah that's a possibility. This is just doing it by yourself

Hey thanks for that! I only had one problem and I figured it out pretty quickly though. The M68AP file is the correct file for both generations.

The phone gets stuck in restore mode, and iTunes eventually reports an error. When I do a standard restore, the phone restores and reboots properly.
