I have to say, after a year or two of listening to all kinds of videos on Youtube, this is still my favorite of all. I can't even begin to explain everything I like about it. First, the arrangement is very original and musical. The counterpoint just makes the hairs on my spine tingle. And the playing is gorgeous: varied, but totally controlled and beautiful throughout. No matter what mood I'm in, this little recording makes me forget everything except harp music.
this a mix of jarocho and classical/latin styles. its not puro jarocho but it can be played in a jarocho group like this. great version. this is what im aiming for. i can already sing i just need to get the harp part down and i can already sing and play as far as the simple songs for me.
wow this is my favorite Mexican song. I heard a harper play it one time in Oaxaca at a festival and they said it was from Veracruz. Such a beautiful song... and you play it amazingly. I wanted to play the harp but it's tough... it's not easy to master in a few years. You need a whole life time. Congratulations,
this is jarocho that came basicly of 3 roots tha barroquian music brougth to the spanish people, the flamenco style, the african rithms influence of the slaves who work in veracruz they came from nigeria and congo, and the natives of the zone of veracruz when the people begin to mix them also the cultures and born this kind of music.
Wow... que bonito ^^
