I think it's a safe assumption that Morimoto himself chooses to go with dubbing over subtitles as I am certain he is important enough to the show to decide. Perhaps he prefers we actually look at the food they are discussing instead of read.

Regarding the dubbing of Morimoto's voice, it is the same person who did the English for him in the original Iron Chef episodes from Japan. Whether that was done right from the beginning or only for English speaking television I am not sure but Morimoto's must be quite happy with the quality of the man's translation and/or portrayal of his intention and inflection to use him again for the American version of the show. I also think it's a safe assumption that it is Morimoto's himself

I don't want to watch Iron Chef America with Morimoto Masaharu because they dub his voice in with anothers. I wish Food TV would stop dubbing another's person's voice in and let us hear his real voice. I think Morimoto Masaharu should demand they stop with the dubbing of his voice and if they have to, use words on the bottom to help those who can't understand him.

RF Hi, I just want to say that I'm very disappointed in their decision to use another person's voice for Morimoto Masaharu. Honestly, it's very rude and disrespectful and pandering to do that. I'm sure we can understand him. I think they're trying to do what they did for him in Iron Chef Japan where he spoke Japanese and so obviously had to use a translator for him. But there, they don't need the translator because he'ls speaking English.
