Cão da Serra da Estrela / Estrela Mountain Dog

The "Serra da Estrela" is the portuguese version of the Saint Bernard and Mastin dogs. The only diference is that they are better to combat the wolves and they still very nice company dogs.

Unfortunetly the wolves are getting extinct more and more... and that is not because os the Estrela dogs... The old environment story...

Se tiver um rebanho para guardar é o ideal.

Great dogs ,many moons ago, when i was a kid, ( 9 ), i was bitten by one of them... just a little nip!! But now, i would love to have one of them again.

They are very docile dogs by nature,but very loyal,and they will defend they owners and family to they last breath, also they are never looking for a figth, but they will NEVER back dow to man or beast.

Yes I know why the dogs are on this planet, to protect the livestock against predators.

I was curious if your dogs also do that, but you answered my question. You have them as company dogs who also guard your property.

Cuvac, the estrelas dog still doing the job for what he was created, protect sheeps from wolves and keeo the sheeps together. Almost shepards in Serra Da Estrela use this dog to do that.

@quintadaliria These dogs are not huge but still pretty big. They are very nice looking dogs but what i find interesting about this breed is their crazy natural fur styles they come in lol. Very impressive fur.
