  • It has many version.

  • Anyone else hear Islamey in this?

  • is this possible to play ?? or legal o_O???

  • @EduOrta142536 I have skimmed thru it, and know by heart the last octave part

  • Ahh ah ah ahht! Hah? *reconnects jaw*

    Wow, that was great!

  • This is the sheet bugs bunny saw but then the mouse played the other one.

  • this cadenza sounds very cziffrian

  • Is it written by Liszt himself or Mr. Hamelin?

  • @19871014 The Cadenza was written by Hamelin.

  • I feel sick.. how the hell is possibile to play such clearly and so fast?

his brain must be totally advanced in this way. this is really not human, or at least, not for a normal pianist. we can play this, but absolutely not so fast and with many imperfections, maybe rubato or I don't know what.

I can't believe it's possible to play in this way

  • hahahahah what a badass

  • GEEEEEEZUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Scorpio7Its less of a composition and more like an arrangement.... Lizst wrote the 19 Hungarian Rhapsodies, so this would be more like variation of a theme by Lizst. aka, Cadenza, meaning addition. Lol. Just wanted to say!

  • @gre0151

ok, so as a Dr of YouTube I prescribe that you look in my videos for the video which is titled:

"Hungarian Rhapsody #2 with Sheet Music (Hamelin) [1/2]"

    Just what the doctor ordered.

  • @HandyTheXxxX I must say that as a Dr of laws and a practicing attorney for over 40 years, you make an excellent case for the proposition that gre0151 is an unobservant pompous ass.

  • @gre0151 YOU GOT OWNED, Dr.! And stop showing off with your titles.

  • @gre0151 I'm gonna sue you for malpractice LOLOLOL

  • @gre0151 I can't understand you!

  • o waw... this is awesome!

  • I just don't get it how anyone can play this.

  • @Scorpio7500 Yes, he did, it's very much his humourous style.

  • This is the best cadenza i ever heard, it takes motifs from the work, but also shows up some extreme virtuosism, for example 0:01, 0:02, 0:03, 0:04, 0:05.....

  • @Laudan08 My favourite bits include the previously mentioned and: 0:06, 0:07, 0:08, 0:09, 0:10.....

  • freakin sick D': *cries*

  • Hamelin included the 1st few bars of Korsakov's flight of the bumble bee in the left hand in bar 152 to 155!

Is this his live recording? He excluded bars 168 and 169 here. I heard his studio recording, he played the gliss 2 more times.

  • @pianist7137 Yes this is his live recording, from Tokyo.

  • good god! can this man play Islamey???

  • @looney1023 I wish I knew, but unfortuntely I haven't heard of him learning it, though I'm certain he would breeze through it.

  • @looney1023 he never records it but i believe, at some point of his life, he has played it.. and yes, i believe he can play it..

  • @looney1023 Islamey would be easy for him.

  • is it possible to play))???

  • @musicpiano14 Yes, it was after all played by Hamelin. :D

  • 1:48-2:08 - Hamelin was surely inspired by Alkan's Hands Reiunited (Op. 76 No. 3). Obvious synchronous 16ths, 8 per measure, with highlited melody on top and uncomfortable leaps, downwards broken arpeggios etc. The exact copy is 2:01-2:08. Even after this, Hamelin immediately enables the 10th interval torture like in C major Alkans etude part.

Thanks to mr. Hamelin and monsieur Alkan for our driven mind!

  • @f1f1s Yes, I think he was influenced greatly by Alkan when composing the cadenza. However there is not 10th torture, rather minor 9th torture. ;)

  • WTF

  • A six note right hand chord in measure 138?

  • what s with the thanks Mr Hamelin lol.

  • 3:02 downbeat with flat hands lol

Did Lang lang compose a cadenza for this piece? I bloody well hope not. Probably be fortissimo and markings of "repetitively beat fists on keyboard and cry for mother saying that you want to quit playing. smash piano with hammer and leave concert hall"

  • @cammywatt95

I laughed heartily at this! ;D

  • to be honest though i think this cadenza is fantastic

  • The best cadenza ever written!!

  • @franzleone You can say that again!

  • I'm so happy to can see hamelin's cadenza!

    thank you so much

  • @franzleone No problem!

  • that is just AMAZING. I didnt know a piano could be played like that and ive done a degree in music lol

  • oh my lord.

  • That does it, i give up the piano...gonna take up fucking golf or something.

LMAO that looks somewhat more difficult than anything I have ever attempted

  • the most difficult passage to me looks like bars 146-149. to play those trill thirds and trill fourths at the speed hamelin plays them is amazing.

  • where can i find sheet music with his cadenza :).

    ?

  • It's in a torrent somewhere on the internet.

  • go to isohunt, type hamelin then find the one titled 'H'.. you can also try by typing any other composer's name starting with 'H'

  • Thanks for posting, Handy. Especially the score that includes Hamelin's cadenza!

  • No problem, I though I had to do it, so I did!

  • Remarkable!

  • Lol, Festivo e strepito : )

  • Not sure what it means; can you tell me?

  • Festivo e strepito Translates to Festively and boisterously, Hope that helps!

  • It certainly does, thank you.

  • Hah, I found it, it was hidden in a massive 6gb file though

  • lol

    can i see

  • Outrageously horrifying score!

  • Yes, it is quite a monstrosity! I really enjoy the cadenza.

  • Does anyone know how to get in touch with Mr. Hamelin? I need to send him the bill for my jaw-reattachment surgery. ;)

  • Damn I was going to make a video like this! Oh well, guess I was too slow :p Anyway, great video!

  • Thanks!

  • Holy $#@% where did you get that sheet music

  • Oh I have my ways ;D

    Like it?

  • YEs, (I will hunt those sheet for the rest of my life!)
