People aren't 'gay' - there's no 'gay people'. People are people - people have inclinations but this isn't all what they are. God doesn't hate anyone - he hates their behaviour.
@BungleZippie People are born gay, bi, straight, or whatever, that is in our genes. If I happen to get turned on by other men, and not by women, are you going to tell me I made the choice to be turned on? No, that is a physical attraction that just happens. And people could force themselves to not act upon their gayness...But why? Who does it hurt? If I'm gay, and I have sex with other men, am I hurting people, is my behavior immoral, and why?
@kjuyhfklujhkuyf There is no definite proof it's from the genes. Although this makes no difference to the necessity of morality. I said people have 'inclinations' or a disposition to act a certain way - it doesn't mean they make a choice about the feeling. They make a choice about acting on those feelings. It's not a matter of forcing yourself not to do something but finding constructive ways of being in accordance with ethical/ moral teaching on relationships conducive to Christian teaching
@BungleZippie But why do they have to be Christians? What's wrong with being an atheist homosexual? I'm an atheist bisexual, am I hurting anybody? If I'm with another man and we're mutually attracted to each other, how does it harm society or harm anybody else? And I don't believe god, am I morally bankrupt? Am I a bad person? And why?
Atheists are moral? From where is the morality? The only reason Atheists have any compass at all is because of the legal system and culture we have. It's this that has shaped them into have residue morality. But this is and will crack the more then get their foot in the door. Morality doesn't save anyone.
@BungleZippie You're wrong. We don't need a god to tell us that hurting people is wrong, we only need to put ourselves in others' shoes. Morality is about reducing the amount of suffering in the world to the best of your ability, you don't need a god for that. If you get your moral ideas from an outdated book, I worry about your morality.
@kjuyhfklujhkuyf You're talking about moral relativism. All words, ideas and situations are relative to culture and current ideas in this scheme of power. Reducing suffering could mean allowing all the elderly to kill themselves? (Check the debate in Holland) How about any any defective baby to be aborted? Involuntary euthanasia?
@BungleZippie You're being kind of crazy. An example of reducing suffering could be abortion. You find out for sure whether or not the unborn baby is aware of their own existence, and whether or not they can feel pain, and you weigh that suffering against the suffering of the mother (whatever reason she wants the abortion), and if the baby's suffering is greater than the mother, the baby isn't aborted. Involuntary euthanasia is simply illogical and an intelligent society shouldn't consider it
The gay gene comes from overly sexual women.
