Great movie, very underrated considering the all star cast. What I can't understand is why that studio felt a reboot was needed after one movie? WTF? From what I've gathered, Thomas Jane was unhappy with the script and the new director and pulled out of the sequel, so the studio recast the part of Frank Castle and rebooted the franchise. Bad idea. First of all, you've got to lock down Jane for at least 3 movies from the start, any knowledgable person knows that. Now this franchise is lost.

Punisher War Zone was a little over the top but it tried to stay true to the marvel knights comic genre. But anyway both the movies are a great popcorn watch if you include the one with Thomas Jane.

@alaindiazaran I couldn't agree more. Yes WarZone was more true to the comic origins, but it all just run gun splatter and gore. I mean I like gore and all but that fucked up the Punisher for me. Thomas Jane IS the Punisher. It was raw and brutal and believable. He used intellect and cunning to take down his enemies. Plus he didn't look like a once faced manequin with the dryest lines ever.

I bought a previously viewed dvd of Warzone today, for 5 dollars. It was ok, the best is Thomas Janes version. If they make a number 3, I hope they bring back Jane and the original director. It was a waste of $5, but I'm glad I didn't buy it when it was first released on dvd, usually they run about $20+, so I saved $15. LOL

Have you played the video game based on the movie? It is very graphic, but worth the play. I thought producers should of borrowed from it when they were making the sequel. And in addition too Jane, have Saint, survive the explosion and become Jigsaw. I could of pictured Travolta wanting revenge on Castle. Not just for his family, but for becoming Jigsaw. In the game, John Saint survived the explosion and became Jigsaw, why not make a sequel like that? I would of definately seen it.

Yeah, Jane and the original director both walked out during preproduction. I can see why, Warzone was a terrible movie. Even if you compared it too the Dolph Lundgren version, its still terrible, and Lundgrens was just plain bad. Janes Punisher was the best.

well this movie was'nt that true to the comics. The director even said that this movie was only based on two comics. The Punisher Year One & Garth Ennis Welcome Back Frank. I don't get it. People often compare this and War Zone, when they're completely different movies. The Punisher 2004 was like the Dawn Of The Dead remake - it took the idea of the Punisher, and the people made their own movie off of it. War Zone was more violent and directly followed the comics, so they're barely alike. So people should just learn to shut the fuck up, because The Punisher 2004 was awesome.

Ray Stevenson is a great actor and the next movie is based off Punisher Max and in that series they dont move up his timeline so he was born in 1950 went to vietnam and in 2008 he's still the punisher so he's a 58 year old guy kickin ass. and i did love Jane but im a bigger fan of Garth Ennis's Punisher.

Thomas Jane was great as the Punisher, it's a dam shame we won't have the pleasure to see him in the next one. The other guy playing the Punisher in WarZone looks too old and looks like a drunk lol. I agree. I prefer Thomas Jane as an actor in that role. But Stevenson wasn't bad, but he was different. He was much more like The Punisher from the PUNISHER MAX comics - violent, ruthless, built like a freight train, etc. Stevenson was the "comic book" punisher. Jane was a more realistic, more human Punisher. But I felt his performance far surpassed Ray Stevenson and any future Punisher projects (*Marvel Studio's upcoming 3rd reboot, for example*) should have him in the role.
