  • Around 2:50. He asks if there is some food. And then she says (the real Jen I think) "I think there´s only porridge and jelly!" (haha it was English enough for her to say.)

  • Playing the cello and driving a car. Pretty much the same thing!

  • Looking good as a cellist! (forgets to do vibratos. Otherwise very credible.) But not her voice! (silly. Diminishes the magic. But I DO think it is her voice at 2:51-53.)

  • Too bad it's not her real voice, yet she did act in French. Does anybody know if there's a version where I can hear her speak French ?

  • @EverlastingxSong 2:50 is her real voice though .

  • is there a version that is in english???

  • Supposedly, if the British accent is so disgusting to French filmmakers, then they shouldn't hire British actors. Jennifer is comedic gold. If they can't get that, then they should stuff it!

  • Does anyone have this film that they can send through email?? i really want to see it!

  • Oh my god thank you so much dubious0!!!!

I so wanted to see this!!!!!!

  • Does anyone have the DVD? I wonder if maybe there's another audio track where Jennifer actually gets to SPEAK, ha ha. It does look as if she is speaking, or at least mouthing, the words in French; the dub lines up very well.

For John Cleese though, in part two, it doesn't line up as well.

It makes me sad that we only got to hear her sexy voice say about three lines in this (part two included).

  • @BloodWraith687 i though he was speaking english in the second part and the audio was just playing over

  • Both John Cleese and Jen Saunders' voices were dubbed.

I don't mean to be xenophobic; the French are quite "strict" with their language. If the English accent was too strong the directors would have been snubbed. This was most likely done to tailor to the French audience, not the International audience.

They should have had them speak their native languages and had a drubbed track or subs for those "suivre les lois du l'Académie Français" people. Would have made this more international...

  • I love that shot of her with the cello. She looks just beautiful.

  • I don't get it, why does she have one line in her own voice and then the rest is dubbed??

  • juswee confusay as well.. bonanotay seyoureter

  • Mon dieu, shes very good at lip synching.

  • So weird looking at Jennifer with a strange french voice...

  • The dubbing was a big mistake but, then again. If she didn't know much French I guess they had no choice. Her voice is beautiful, and they probably had to do the last thing they wanted to by dubbing. Saunders, you are as much of a brilliant serious actor as you are a comedian and writer. You keep doing all these different parts, writing shows and I simply cannot do anything else but love every single one of them. You are a real heroine, you make us British proud.

  • Completely agree. She is a genius.

  • wot was the point in dubbing her gorgeous voice and even just leaving one line ?

  • osunds like her when shes talking about jelly. im sure she could have done it convincingly enough!

  • si si c'est L qui parle français!!!

  • C1929.. who's cute?

  • Jennifer Saunders ofcourse! :P

  • so do we non-french speakers not get to know what its about then naw?

  • shes cuuuute!

  • johanna lumley parle bien le franaçais mais pas cette saunders, je crois !

  • for the most part it in't even her... :)

  • what does this mean in english please someone?

  • so there's no version with her real voice all the time? Love it when she plays the cello...(i jused to play for 9 years when i was younger...still a bit of melancholy there :))

  • Though it's fake, it's quite funny to see her play cello... ;)

  • That is so very true...she seems o enjoy it ;)

  • i looooove it. just to bad they dubbed her voice! it wasn't even necessary though, that one line she said in french sounded really good!

    très bien!

  • aww, I hate the dubbed voice. :(

the one line she actually says in French sounds quite sexy though :P

  • totally agree with you, why, on earth didn't they let her do all her lines...

  • It's funny, it doesn't even seem like her with that dubbing. I think the voice they put in is much to young. I really hate it.

  • im glued to it lol i cnt stop watchin it...thanks 4 puttin it up

  • it seens awsome... even though lyk all the things she has been in is aswome but yh i wish i cud understand it though

  • maybe they dubbed her voice because she did it and her french didnt sound great....y would she be in this movie?? hahhah the last line before she walks out the door..at about 2:51, is her real voice.

  • How weird does "Scotland Yard!" sound?!

  • REALLY weird, ha ha.

  • you can tell whicvh one she says. good accent though.

imagine she had a good time with the french miming!!!

  • She actually says a çine in french!! In the end of her 1st scene! how lovely! :D

  • i wonder why they dubbed her voice, cause apparently she could speak the french, although probably not knowing what she was saying :-)

it's good to brush up my french

  • yeah, i think she sounded very good in that only line she said in french :(

  • She definitely did know the French lines. She probably does know French; most Europeans know more than one language. Remember France is about as far from England as Pennsylvania is from Indiana.

  • can she actually play the cello?

  • no she's miming the cello

  • that makes sense!

was she speaking french though because her lips pretty much match up

  • is that her real voice? It really doesn't sound like it until halfway through

  • the French voice isn't hers.

  • @iamatrekkie She does speak French but it's not her real voice.

  • Thank you sooooo much for this
