Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp both said that they want the team to stay and seattle, so that they can retire their jerseys here.

that's coming from two of the greatest players to ever step on the court.

if you're a real NBA fan, regardless of where you live, whether, seattle or OKC, i think that you would respect what a couple of NBA legends have to say about retiring their numbers.

I am glad to know OKC will be getting the Sonics. From what I was told, they will be treated with the kind of respect their old fans would not give to them. They will have a bigger arena to play in, and have new uniforms, and a name that will give this team better respect and honor in the NBA.

ok, first of all seattle is a big city and deserves a sports team. OKC doesn't. nothing personal, but what do you ever hear about them. i mean, seriously, seattle is a landmark in this country.

secondly, sonics fans are some of the best in the league. do you remember how loud the key arena was in the 90's with kemp and payton. there's no arena that compares to that sound now.

the sonics belong to seattle. if OKC wants a team, they can get one themselves, don't take ours away from us.

having a sports team is not the point. this is Seattle, one of the most famous cities in the world. we deserve a basketball team just as much as any other big city (hmmm, maybe because we are a big city). OKC is not a big city. i don't care if they have a team, but they shouldn't steal the Sonics. this is a team that has a history. maybe we're not good right now, but we have won a championship, have some good banners hanging in the rafters of our Key Arena, and we've produced excellent players.
