  • @Paully41

You are welcome! Thank you for checking out this 78 record...Friends, Lloyd.

  • I'm glad Texas A&M adopted part of this song for their fight song (although they did change the lyrics: "Late one night, when the t-sips were in bed/ Ol' Sul Ross put the lantern in the shed/ The Aggie kicked it over and winked his eye and said/ There's going to be a hot time in Austin tonight). This song is truly a classic and many people are getting exposed to a song that could have died out if it weren't adopted. Thanks A&M and Guy Lombardo!

  • It's the American National Anthem! Fromthe movie " Amigo ".

  • @r2ro43

Thank you for the historical info on the song, and also for listening to this vintage record...Friends, Lloyd.

  • Ah,yes, from an era in America that is long gone and none of today's generation will ever know about, too bad. This is the music that my parents grew up in and even though I wasn't born then,I do know what it was, thank God.No more Guy Lombardos.Very sad, very sad.Everything today is about, glitter, glam, sex, shock, weirdoism, and everything else they can throw into music. Will the youth of today be able to look back on their music the way we look back on someone like Guy Lombardo. We all know that answer.

  • @FRANK1FM

I agree with you!!! It is sad that the same legend record labels that brought us artists like Bing Crosby, Guy Lombardo, Perry Como, and many others are now cranking out rap/hip-hop noise, or grungy sounding heavy metal rock that sounds more like an artillery shooting range than music for the most part!!! When a car goes by, you can hear pounding bass coming out of it's radio, but what kind of musical memories will this create? Thanks for checking this out..Friends, Lloyd.

  • This song is a classic.

I would have loved to live in that era.

  • @sleepytimegalz

This 78 has always been a long time family favorite record.

  • Like the totally most awesome cover of this song is by Leon Redbone

  • @SweetJaneofGoth

Thank you for checking it out, and have a great New Year!!...Friends, Lloyd.

  • This isn't bad at all, rather pleasant in fact. I do, however like the driving rhythms of the Dukes of Dixieland on this number.

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43

Thank you for listening to it here, and HAPPY HOLIDAY'S!!...friends, Lloyd.

  • I had to hear how this song was meant to be performed after hearing the Hooterville Volunteer Fire Deparment destroy, er perform, this song (Uncle Joe, Mr. Douglas, Floyd, Charlie, Mr. Drucker, Mr. Haney, Granpappy Miller, Alf and Ralph) in Petticoat Junction and Green Acres.

  • @bxktd

Thank you for checking this song out!, I don't remember that episode, I will have to look for it here on Youtube, or DVD!!...friends, Lloyd.

  • They had this record in the Juke in a local tavern in our town. My buddies and I were in our early twenties when we first played the B side of "Auld Lang Syne" We loved it!! Never forgot to play iit at least once a visit! We were there every week to play shuffleboard & drink beer. It's still one of my favorites today and I'm in my mid 40"s.

  • Thank you for checking it out, that record is in very good shape for being as old as it is. The flip side you mentioned is already well posted, that is why I did not post it here.

  • @1980pacecar We had this tune at our local tavern also. It always got played when it was time to throw someone out. The bartender would throw a quarter to one of the regular soaks and say, "a little traveling music please!" When we heard it it was the cue to clear a path and prop open the door. We called it the throwing out song.

  • @samcordion

That is cool way to play the song at the tavern!!, thank you for checking it out...friends, Lloyd.

  • My family had this song on the B-side of an "Auld Lang Syne" 45. Thus I may be the only person who mentally associates "Hot Time In The Old Town Tonight" with New Year's Eve as well.

    Thanks for posting!

  • You are welcome, the reason I put this side on instead of "Auld Lang Syne" is because that side was worn out from excessive plays.

I swear this side was almost never played which made for a good 78 transfer here.

  • one of my fav Lombardo numbers. I particularly like the instrumental break featuring the trumpets and the mellophone in the background.

  • Thank you for great comment, I am glad you enjoy it...Lloyd.
