I've watched this video seveal times because I never get enough of the intelligent humor of this man. He made us see ourselves as we sometimes are without being offensive. His talent remains alive until this day.
Starred on a tv show, was a high profile comedian, close friend of Sammy Davis Jr, was a guest at a Dean Martin Roast, Johnny Carson was a big fan of him, performed at Jimmy Carter's Inaugural Ball. And he still wasn't happy.
Just goes to show how complex the human mind really is. Oh well, he left behind a legacy, and he was certainly ahead of his time.
Wrong ! The human mind is not that "complex "..however, add a shit load of drugs to the human mind ? then you have big time "complexity" Bottom line ? Prinze was a young guy therefore very vulnerable and on a cocktail of drugs (legal and illegal ) Introduced to him no doubt by his new found famous "friends " Shame on them for being so irresponsible towards a young guy coming thru the ranks
first puerto rican funny man , i was so proud of him [being puerto rican ] he on his way to open for latins, and he KILLS himself what a waste of talent, rip
Damn he was talented. He had a tremendous presence for a guy who was so young. Most people are still half-kids at this age. As far as I'm concerned he had a comparable talent to the young Eddie Murphy, and so, could have been huge. The courage he had to make fun of EVERYBODY is phenomenal. It's only recently that non-blacks and non-jewish people have been able to do that. If he had of stuck with us, maybe we all could have been making fun of each other quicker...which really leads to peace.
Despite the inconsistencies he's still watchable from start to finish. One comedian who certainly had talent and didn't have to resort to anything else.
@joeytrimble He and George Lopez were actually friends.. An episode of The George Lopez show with Freddie Prinze JR he is talking with him about his dad and shows a pic of them together from the 70s I believe.
@christachick89 George was a fan who got into standup b/c of Freddie Sr, and he told Freddie Jr that he (George) sponsoring the Hollywood walk of fame star was a way of saying "Thank You" and honoring Freddie's talent. The pic u are talkin about is from chico and the man, that entire interview is here on youtube.
T.V.'s "Chico & the Man" trivia: Originally "comic" Freddie Prinze was cast to play the role of "Della." Producer James Komack, of course, eventually awarded the part to the behemoth Della Reese who had invented Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in the autumn of 1967 during her convalescence from a trampoline accident.
Wow, what a talent...I remember whenI was a teenager admiring him and being proud that he was latino..as least half..lol...and when we found out that he committed suicide we were very confused and a bit angry.....where were the people
who cared for this brother.........freddie u will live in our hearts4ever....RIP
It seems that funny people are too aware of the current state of things and people in the world, George Carlin, Andy Kaufman, John Belushi, some of them can handle it some of them can't. That's why they dope up and die. The only remedy is laughing it off. Kinda reminds me of Pagliacci.
I still can't believe he only was 22 when he died...
