I remember Beethoven when he was still composing for small churches then his Fith Symphony came out and all of a sudden everyone became a Beethoven fan. Things got really bad after that Edison guy invented the record player. Now the same things happening with MuteMath. And don't get me started on vampire novels. Things were bad enough with Stoker. But after Lestat started telling all our secrets and then Cullen family. I gets me mad thinking about it.
Mutemath obviously approved of their song being on the Twilight soundtrack so if you have a problem with their new fans you should complain to the band. I doubt they appreciate your elitist attitude.
So in a way its good for the band because more people will listen to them. But on the other hand people who listened to mutemath before Twilight.. i bet they feel let down and as if people who only like them because of Twilight are taking the credit.. if you understand what i meann. Great song..
Whoever is an original Mute Math fan that tries to talk you down is a tool. Fans are fans and no one has right over one another to listen to music. yes MUSIC. it's very rare with our pop-culture nowadays
mute math is amazing along with the band Annasay. I discovered Annasay on itunes recently, but they have quickly become a favorite too. Listen to the Annasay song "Winter Air"
You want to quote movies? okay fine. Take a look at love comes softly. Its just like clark says, "The lords promise isnt that everythings going to go perfect, but that hell always be there with us when it doesnt and hell guide us through it and nurture us. In all honesty you cant really call yourself a christian just because you know the lords word. Even satan read the bible. It takes having faith to understand it all even the things that seem impossible. That is the measure of a christian
Why do everyone think they are a christian band? All those things are probably about some girl he really likes, not some phantom everyone prays to, but never hears from.
their cconsidered a christian band because they orginated in victory church of new orleans, louisiana. I should know i go to the church :P also god is onyl aphantom to those who arent willing to truly look around or listen. Think about that hun ;-)
First of all, dont ever talk down to anyone. Because god says averyone is equal, no matter how old or what sex you just so happen to be born with. I've been a devoted christian, all my relatives are catholics, and for a time I believed there was a god. But then it became clear to me: God does'nt listen, and neither does anyone else. Let me ask you something: If God REALLY cared about his people, why, THE HELL, would he let there be evil among us? I mean. Isn't he God almighty?
And about them going to church and stuff.. How can I know if you're speaking the truth or if you're just another youtube-troll? I need some evidence. And just because someone perhaps got their first gig in a church doesn't mean they're christian.
You should take a look at the movie Zeitgeist. Didn't let anything hang, it took all my doubts away from going back to christianity.
It's nothing but a religion based on a pretty good fictional novel. Just like Scientology!
Noone was talking down to anyone. I was merly pointing out the reoson why god appears to be a "phantom" to some. As for them being church goer's feel free to victory fellowship online and read about mute math there. Secondly the good lord did not let evil befall earth. Mankind brought evil upon itself.
They did this by our very first ancestors, adam and eve. By succombing to temptation and satan the serpents lies they disobeyed god and ate fruit from the tree of knowledge. This brought sin into their lives and sin went on to create evil.
Oh yes! :D I just love Christian logics, it's the best ever.
So innocent C H I L D R E N have to "die" due to their lack of faith and because of some dumbfuck asshole ate an apple?! Please. If you still have any form of a soul left in you, don't ever speak of other people's lack of faith, because that's not even reasonable. Only the fact that you're indirectly justifying senseless murder is just... wow. Whoever God is, he's surely pissing down our throats right now.
Why does god let it continue you ask? Simple as a test of our faith. Its to see who is going to trust in the lord and know that hell eb there with us till the end or who is going to only look at the present and not the possible future and then blame the lord for an imperfect world that we brought upon ourselves.
Tell that to the innocent victims of Gaza, you godless fascist.
This is what pisses me off the most about religion: Noone gives a flying saucerf*ck about someone else if they belong to another religion. You can tell me otherwise, but i've known plenty of people who, in a blink of an eye, turn from faithful christians to racist idiots. Don't tell me God wanted to turn good people bad because of what happened in the past. That's not christian, it's b*llshit.
those are pretty strong and rather unwarranted opinions....please just enjoy the music. Argue about religion on an atheist blog or a christian video, but please just listen to the music.
Been a fan of Mutemath for god knows how long. About 2-3 years maybe. Their song is the best on the soundtrack. And I love them even more since they were in twilight. If that's even possible
I have loved mute math before Twilight, but I love twilight too...
I cant decide!
Its just MuteMath was special for me, and know everyone knows about them...I mean, dont get me wrong! I still LOVE mute math to death. but its just....not...the same. :(
true....but I would argue that to cause their music to be listened and loved by more people, they need to incorporate this kind of publicity. That's my opinion off course, and I totally know where your coming from
@NaushinPotter well, im kinda guilty of looking into them because they did the transformers theme for the first live action movie. i figured there would be a comment like yours somewhere and im not going to deny, the only reason i listen to their music is cuz of transformers
they have an awesome sound. it's different than the other music that we hear all the time today. i think it sounds amazing along with the great lyrics.
i love them because the people who listen to like the kaiser chiefs and those gay rich kid bands havnt claimed this band. all the bands i like are no longer cool tome because people keep stealing them away from me
Dumbest post ever. Just because someone else likes a band doesnt mean you can't. It just change the music or its meaning, just shows that you like bands for the image they give you more than the message or sound of the music...
i dont know, i mean i kinda know what he means, sorta to an extent.
Music is probably really special to him, and it makes you feel special that you have a band no one else has heard of, and then all of sudden, its like someone takes that specialness away.
haha i dont know how to explain it, but something like that.
wow...earthsuit was one of my favorite bands growing up...it is awesome to see that these guys are still around and making great music even if it is with a different band
The only thing really Coldplay about them is their guitar tone. That is about it. I love Coldplay and Mute Math, but they are pretty different. Not gonna lie. But seriously, everyone needs to definitely see these guys live. It is worth any price. They are truly incredible and creative.
Why this song has never been in the charts I dont know but Mutemath are an awesome band I really hope they make it into the charts and makes it big time like U2,Coldplay Etc there music is well up to modern day standards!!!
I can see why someone might say they sound like U2 or Coldplay, but so can be said that Jet sounds like AC/DC, The Kinks, with a splash of The Beatles ..... great sound guys!
my local rock radio station started playing this song and i would of never known who they are or the song title. they don't sound like coldplay, u2 or like anyone posts. they sound original. i can't wait for the next cd.
Meh, I understand that these guys are a pop group, (paul said it himself in an interview) but that song is too poppy. I actually skip over it a lot. Control, Chaos, and Notice are all bad ass songs too. Hell, the whole CD is awesome.
One of the things I like about these guys is that in an interview not too long ago, the lead vocal (Paul) went right out and said that they're making music with no religious or other agenda. They're just making great music, music that they feel and love playing.
Well I love all kinds of Christian music and this has made my day knowing that they are Christians. Whatever they portray a Christian message through their songs. I dont care what any of yall say. I love them even more now that I know they love Christ! :)
yeah, all your gods are #1 cause of all the misery and wars in the world. Me, I rather believe in MY OWN strength, and not just in some superdupernatural powered "person" named god. Come on use your brain. Mute math still rocks, even though they believe in something that can't be proven. Peace
I can't believe that major christian bands think that people will actually listen to some pop rock. I'm a christian, and I think that more christian bands should get a lesson on music.
Listen to the lyrics of this song, and the lyrics of Chaos. They are definitely Christians. They are an incredible band. Can't wait for another album.
ya they are amazing. To answer your question, the guys used to be part of a Christian band, can't remember the name at the moment, but as for mutemath...I know that they played at Creation fest, a christian music festival in Washington...so to me...that would indicate that they are....maybe someone else has more a concrete answer
Actually, Earthsuit, the Christian label incarnation of Mute Math, put out one full length cd called "Kaleidoscope Superior." It remains one of the best Christian alternative cds ever released.
@chamito25 They are not a "Christian Band." There are more of a band of Christians. Not to say that their music is anti-Christian, but their music doesn't typically have a targeted Christian message. They do however have a live Christian CD I found online called "Elevator Music" that they did with some other people. And Paul Meany came from a specifically Christian band before Mutemath called Earthsuit.
I have been a fanatic music worshiper for 12 years now (it all started with The Beatles when I was 14) and I can honestly say no other band has affected me like Mutemath. Their music is somehow spiritual and deep without being corny, and beautiful without being ordinary.
And - I know nothing about drumming - but can't stop staring at Darren King. Maybe drummers could comment on his style, because to me it looks so different but I can't tell why.
That's because Darren has a very peculiar drum sound and setup. It's a very simple drum but it sounds very busy, deep and complete. He has a whole lot of energy in his playing, and a very deep groove. Also, he's the kind of drummer that posses the ability to play the things that make music more organic and more complete, so he knows how to assume the right attitude towards the right song and music, something that not many drummers can do. He really has his own voice in the music world.
Wau. That's brilliantly said. I would've just said it's hot, but you explained it really well :). He definitely has a voice of his own. I never really pay attention to drummers, it's just the back beat of a song, but Darren sometimes overshadows the other three guys! I guess I'm in love :).
this is definitely not their best song obsolete stare at the sun typical and picture you are mine break the same even noticed is better than this both technically and groovy-wise and they kick stupidass coldplays ass live especially but also on album. these guys are on par with radiohead
i can't put it in any other way...this is the art of music at its apex. brilliant. the breakdown that they add at the end of the song gives you chills. its ridiculous/scary how much potential this band has.
Seeing this video, I'm really starting to believe that Mute Math is the first 21st century band... I can't think of another band that has a 21st century sound
Great song and a great band!!!

chamito25 3 years ago
ya they are amazing. To answer your question, the guys used to be part of a Christian band, can't remember the name at the moment, but as for mutemath...I know that they played at Creation fest, a christian music festival in Washington...so to me...that would indicate that they are....maybe someone else has more a concrete answer

just to let you know Mutemath's christian album is called Elevator Music
Doat1911 3 years ago
Actually, Earthsuit, the Christian label incarnation of Mute Math, put out one full length cd called "Kaleidoscope Superior." It remains one of the best Christian alternative cds ever released.

@markschofield1990 - they were once known as "Earth Suit" as a CCM Band. Love all their stuff!

Mutemath have to be one the best bands in the U.S.A at the moment :o
The way he sings caught me by suprise though when I first watched them live. All the same, very talented and absolutely unique.

I'm sorry..
But I think they sound nothing like Coldplay.
Both bands have their own distinct sounds, and I love them both equally.
Mute Math though, is the most incredible band I've ever seen live. They left me in tears with this performance, and I'll never forget it.
They are truly amazing and talented.

Maybe drummers could comment on his style, because to me it looks so different but I can't tell why.
jalojalka 3 years ago 2

I guess I'm in love :).

i can't put it in any other way...this is the art of music at its apex. brilliant. the breakdown that they add at the end of the song gives you chills. its ridiculous/scary how much potential this band has.
