@Kordane More precisely, where exactly in the holy Qu'ran is written that it is NOT permitted to use a guitar? Oh that's right, guitars and music are not forbidden
I am so sick of all things Islam BUT I have appreciated this guy for 45 or so years and I still think he is one of the finest writers we humans have been lucky enough to have thrust upon us.
You are sick of all things Islam?? who do you think you are to be "sick" about something like that?you should just have some respect about people belives, and if you have "appreciated" this guy for this long you should know that if we want a better world we need to have love for life and all the differences, and I don't have anything with the Islam good or bad...
Actually he is just as strong in religion now... He stopped his music because he was following someone's "interpretation of music" in religion. Eventually, he realized that he had a God given talent that he must use - within certain standards. I am very happy to hear him play again : )
Robinovich1987 - i honestly am not too sure but try typing this into google, it might help - " Cat Stevens Discography ". If one doesn't provide the response you might need to try some of the other address' that pop up man, it might help . Good listenings
Cat can capture life like no other. His music can effect all of us differently depending on who we are and where we are in our spiritual journey. He had that ability to speak to us all as individuals yet as a common humanity and we all hear him on our own terms. He is loved and feared because he accepts us while revealing us. The man has a gift - I stand in awe.
This song totally describes me, I have a crush on this guy, and he doesn't know I exist, and I'm too shy to talk to him, even though I really want to, and I keep telling myself "Someday I'm gonna just go up to him and say hi." and I NEVER do, because I'm just too shy to make myself do it. And he is an AMAZING singer too!
however, i dont want to risk sounding like i dont think he is one of the most amazing artists ever. i love his music old and new, and i find almost nothing compares. dont take what i am saying to mean that i even think he has gotten worse, he has just changed. and i love him always.
i would both agree and disagree with tomanderson19. while he gains a perfected and silky style, he looses a lot of his old passion, for instance compare both his versions of "i think i see the light" while the new one is more polished, the old one radiates passion and feeling. he really felt what he was singing, and he made sure you knew it. but as he has aged, he has not lost any passion, but it doesn't show in his voice in the same way, his face tends to portray it more.
Another great artist/musician/man/father and friend! Cat stevens aka Yussof Islam had gone through so much, seen so much, touched many nations! A devout Muslim and a humanitarian who strives for peace and equality! It'd be very unjust for people to ignore his enormous contributions to the world mainly in Music! May he lives in happiness for ever more!
i don't understand why people are criticizing his religious views it doesn't really matter because it doesn't really exist anyway it's just a basis of morals for people to follow and who the hell are you to judge his religion.
His gentle genious is truly a gift to us all. I pray he has many more years to contribute his selfless poetry and songs so the world can continue to enjoy and celebrate more of his life's work. The only other living legend remotely close to his caliber which makes people FEEL and SEE the music in rainbows of color is Paul McCartney.
First heard this on Once Upon a Time. What a beautiful song!

@ob1kendobe Musical instruments are not forbidden, unless you are a Wahhabi... but of course all Wahhabis are kaffirs.

Well, he isnt a popstar any more. Well above 50 and a grandpa :)
Perhaps, he is passionate about different things now...Infact, I know he IS!

I think his singing has improved with his age - he sounds a little silkier now. He was, and continues, to be an amazing and inspiring artist.

Unfortunately,
Yusuf DID support the order to kill Rushdie. It's hypocritical, because he wrote "Peace Train". Only an idiot would deny it, because it was ON FILM.
