Loved all the guitar solos, but you gotta love Neal Schon's just for the sheer fact that he rarely looked down at his guitar, and that look he gives, like he's saying "Looks boys, this is how you play without looking down".
Buck from Blue Oyester Cult shit a brick on this. I don't know why they put him on. Maybe he would have done better if Brad Gillis didn't take 3 fuckin' hours to record his parts.
This was a guitar playing ectasis among other things.Hearing this song remains me the 80`s and this wonderful decade that has gone and it won`t be another one. Also it remains me of Dio,who I`ll keep him in my heart.Rest in peace pal, you`ll live forever in our hearts.
@DioandMaiden Adrian and Dave own Neal any day. Neal is nothing without Steve Perry and everyone knows that. Except you. Nearly almost every guitarist is better then him in this video. The only thing he is better at is making those faces looking like he is ready to bust. He's not a bad guitarist he is not nearly as good as you say though.
6:05 Ted Nuegent's answer sounds a lot like the answer that the Miss Teen USA girl gave regarding why some people can't find the United States in a map.
is it me, no these guitar players are all fucking awesome, especially live, however it seems in this in this very video quite a few are playing out of key with the backing track quite bit, however it seems corrected in the actual song.
Freaking awesome!! I bought this recording over 20 years ago as an LP (..yeson vinyl). It was awesome. The shredding was incredibleand the song actually rocks! I always wonder how they did the guitar solonot sure if each guest guitarist did one little piece. Sounds like they had each guitarist play the entire solo, then chose each separate piece. The end result is awesome. I would love to hear the entire solo from each individual guitarist. AWESOME SONG!! Awesome post!!
It is about almost over 20 years ago, and they left really beautiful memory to me till now. Their purpose, their performance, and their passion, all of them were great, and always make me remember them same as 20 years ago. I miss them all and their guitar with great choir.
Neal Schon is an amazing player. You ever listen to Hardline? Their first (?, don't know if they ever made a second....) disc is Double Eclipse. Had Schon on guitar and Dean Castronova on drums... Good disc....
Go listen to the first 2 Journey Albums, Well CD's.......... The Self-titled and Look Into The Future. This is Neal when he still remembered he was a guitarist........ Great Stuff!! Before Perry came into the fold, Was a whole different sound from the Journey everyone heard on the radio..... Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Wow! Lots of memories...Personally, I think that Lynch and Schon stole the show here. Not a big Schon fan but he really played like a metal head on this! Awesome!
Schon is one of the most underrated shredders out there. He's a very melodic player and very tasteful, but when the crap hits the fan, he can shred with the best of them. He's both fast and clean. A great player for sure. I also enjoyed the simpler solo work of Buck Dharma from Blue Oyster Cult and Eddie Ojedia from Twisted Sister. There was some seriously cool collaboration on that project. Top quality for sure!
This takes me back to the 80's I'm still stuck in the 80's hate this rap crap generation, they all act black when there white thats pathethic. wonder why im still stuck, 50's through the 80's is the best era, anyways rock on broheims.
Wonder if Adrian Smith or Dave Murray thought: "Great! I finally get invited to some project, looking forward to working with other musiscians and whatya know? I get to play with that same motherf... I already toured with the last 5 years!"
OMG, the line that always cracks me up is when Carmine Appice says 'helping people...get food and find water'...that last part always cracks me up...I can imagine Carmine @ the dessert and pointing here I found water...just love these guys! I would've loved to see at least one female singer/group like Lita Ford and Vixen,. Where were Ozzy and the Scorpions?
Oh my god that part around 8:20 or so with Ted Nugent and Chris Holmes was hilarious. They should've had there own sitcom back in the 80's, fuck full house.
The Golden era of Rock and Metal. This video is spectacular, a mazing bunch of great guitarists and singers of the Rock, Carlos Cavazo, Vivin Cmabel, George Lynch, Neal Schon, and Eddie Ojeda, wow. But The intervention of Yngwie Mallmteen is awesome, also the one of Bad Gillis and its ability with the whamy bar . All great artists.
