  • Hmm... -sigh- Back to guitar practice.

  • What's on Paul's fingers?

  • @Carelessquetzal Those things are thumbpicks and fingerpicks

  • Поддержите футбольную клуб «Анжи» fc-anji.ru

  • Ed can play! Just not his brother, although looks like him!

  • anybody now what the hell Ed is playing? me and a buddy wanna cover this version but can't quite figure out what he's doing.

  • @CaptFlimflam looks to me like he is just playing the base notes. i thinks hes up there more for show

  • 1:41 fail..

  • I dont care who is Ed or who is Paul... but I would sure like to know who the chicks are @ :40 seconds in...

  • And which one is Art???

  • @OlleFetzen The music :)

  • Which one is Ed?

  • No thats George and the other was John... LOL

  • Ed always seems to have a cheeky grin on his face. its so funny when he tries to step off the stage.

  • They´re so cool together!

  • are they twins?

  • the one on the left is paul simon bacause the one on the left, i noticed cant play some parts, so paul just keeps going while his brother plays and backs-up too.

  • @xXBlinDXx12 The one on the right is Paul. Ed is clearly on the left because he looks like Ed!

  • @MASAI97 but most people dont know that........ so i was pointing out differences to show tell between the two, btw paul simon uses the thumb and finger picks, while Ed doesnt.

  • those "hippie girls" are pushing 70

  • i'm so happy to have found this. I never knew about his brother Ed, or this song Anji by Davey Graham.

  • Anyone know if this version of Anji is the one from the Sounds of Silence LP???

  • can someone tell me why Paul has a pick around his finger that doesn't seem to touch the strings? what is it for?

  • @ragingbull888 they're fingerpicks (and a thumbpick)... you can look up other videos to see how they work

  • Not bad for a couple of Vulcans!

  • I would write down who or who is not?

  • いい仕事してる

  • Holy shit! Are they twins?

  • @unknownKingdom. U want a woman old enough to be you mother? Maybe even grandmother? LOL

  • At 1:54, i distinctly hear the Beatles 'Day Tripper' riff. :)

  • @pikey321 Yeah, the beatles probably borrowed the riff for daytripper.

  • <CLICK ME for my classical guitar version of this! :) Thanks

  • I actually have this recording. Interesting that he used both classical and steel string.

  • Has Ed made any other recordings or appearances with or without Paul in the last 40 years? Surprising if not, he's d@mn good, but then Paul is very underrated as a guitar player too. Great clip, is there more of this anywhere?

  • Actually, yes. Eddie has apeared on "Old Freinds, Live On Stage".

  • @MusicbyBenjamin Thanks for the heads-up. I've watched the DVD a few times and never noticed him appear, probably because he's just in the credits? It's time for another watch, great disc. What a Pity, it appears from the brief bio on AllMusic.com that we could have missed out on a good thing for far too long.

  • After some more research I see Eddie is also credited for Vocals for a 2009 release by a band called "The Knife Confession", album is Plane Filled Skies. Very far from what I expected to hear, somewhat psychedelic metal space music; the other 2 members supposedly play violin and viola but very subdied if so. IF this is in fact the SAME Eddie Simon.

  • Paul Simon is the one who plays using a thumbpick

  • Kage Bunshin No Jutsu

  • Paul was obviously the one who stayed onstage at the end when Garfunkel returned. :-) Seriously, it's *very* hard to tell the difference between the two of them..

  • Marvelous to see this kept alive. To be able to compose such work.

  • I never thought of Paul as a great guitarist but if he can do a passable Davy G song then I was wrong. Nice Beatles "day tripper" moment.

  • yeah me too...the black hair.....

  • they look like Twins, which is which?

  • Which one is Ringo

  • OMG=Simon & Simon!!!!!

  • rollie pollies

  • yea they take the Day Tripper riff at about 1:50

  • My gosh they look the same. XD

  • 1:54 sounds like 'day tripper' by Beatles

  • what year and where was this recorded?

  • i call dibs on the blonde :)

  • @TaksiRoadkill good i want the brunet

  • Has anybody noticed the "Day Tripper " lick at 1:55 ??? He hiccuped a bit and it seems like it just came out .. true musicianship. But what did this come from ?

  • @scott87031

I noticed that immediately as well; apparently a nod to the Beatles?

  • @scott87031 He added that Day Tripper touch in several live performances. I have one on CD from Paris 1970 where the crowd actually laughs at that point and he says "oh that's the Beatles" as he continues to play the song.

  • @scott87031 Immediately preceded by "we got a groovy thing goin baby"

  • i would like paul simon to show me how to play the guitar i cant play a note but i wish i could play just like him. the songs and tunes he plays are just heavenly

  • Paul is on the right, isn't it ?

  • I want one of those hippie girls at 0:46

  • Comment removed

  • I had several of them. Ah, those were the days.

  • 60's girls were prettier

  • @unknownkingdom OMG YES!

  • @unknownkingdom Why just one?

  • @unknownkingdom they're about 60 y o now

  • @unknownkingdom Just one? I want them both! lol

  • @unknownkingdom we all do my brother :D

  • @unknownkingdom

Ok, I'll take the other one.

  • @unknownkingdom i call dibs on left

  • @unknownkingdom Have you considered they'd be about 70 right now. ROTFLMAO

  • @prwatson701 why would that make you roll on the floor, laughing your ass off? bit exagerated dont ya think?

  • @unknownkingdom theyre old or dead dude

  • @unknownkingdom I want to be one of those hippie girls at 0:46

  • @unknownkingdom I want both.

  • @unknownkingdom The brunette's my mom!! She dated Ed Simon when she was 18 and living in NY

  • @unknownkingdom really, I want both

  • WTF? c'on this is a double image of him! where did the brother come from?

  • excellent

  • Paul is a little better looking but the resemblance is uncanny.

  • This is also on the ' Simon & Garfunkel - Kraft Music Hall 1968 Part 2 of 3 ' youtube video where Paul introduces Ed to come up and play

  • pauls on the right doin the guitar with 2 fingers

  • Paul's brother Ed is 4 years younger. He must have idolised his big brother.

  • they look like too infants yaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyayyyay

  • that was uplifting .. beautifully picked eh?

  • I never knew he had a brother! So I guess they are twins?

  • Arrggh which one is Paul? lol

    xxxxxx

  • the one standing up

  • @watermark17 The one on the right. Also, the one ACTUALLY playing his guitar ;)

  • @watermark17 The one on the right as you look at them!

  • @watermark17 I'm guessing its not the one who played the accompaniment and left right after they finished playing.

  • @watermark17 the one in the middle

  • @watermark17

    the one in the middle.

  • @4321micro: It's actually the one to the right; the one on the left went offstage, when Garfunkel came in, at the end.

  • @watermark17

The one on the right. Darker black shirt.

  • 同じサムピックを買った。

  • i started watching this and i thought they were both paul!! i was like what on earth!?

  • This is beautifully done, but it's interesting that it took two of them to play what Davey Graham wrote and played solo. I'm just sayin'...

  • usually paul plays it by himself =)

  • It's quite fleshed out compared to the original; I think it justifies the use of two guitars. Besides, the actual original recorded version by Davy Graham was quite simple. Artists, such as Bert Jansch, who were amongst the earliest to cover the track, added aspects to it which have stuck; for instance the hammer-ons during the main section.

  • You can also hear 'groovy thing' towards the end of this arrangement.

  • who is this guy, ed? I would like to know someone online who has his biography? This is the only footage I have of him, is he still alive? Why doesn't he play with his brother more? Does he do any solo stuff? does paul mention him in any interviews?? Lots of ???? that'd I'd like to know if possible

    - GB

  • Does Paul Simon have a brother??

    I didn't know. :-O

  • DAVEY GRAHAM the great Scottish guitarist and the man responsible for introducing DADGAD tuning to the West -

wrote this instrumental when he was 19.

Everyone from Martin Carthy, John Renborn, Herbert Jansch, Jimmy Page etc including Paul Simon - have been 'Influenced' by Daveys Eclectic Acoustic style of playing. Paul included this tune on 'The Sounds of Silence' and even asked Davey to 'Join' him and Art in the group as a Trio. Davey turned it down

and the rest is History ! R.I.P Davey.

  • Im a Day Tripper!

  • are they twins? they're freakin' identical!

  • the begining to anji sounds almost the same as the begining to somewere they ca'nt find me. listen to both songs you'll hear it

  • I think it was intentional. Note the fact that one follows the other on the sound of silence LP.

  • cool

  • i had no idea this song was with paul simons brother... even less that they looked so much alike!! love them both here... it shows they're having a blast

  • This is amazing! I had no idea Paul Simon had a look alike brother who also plays guitar! Thanks so much for posting it.

  • Isn't this a cover of Bert Jansch ?

  • NO...Simon got this song in manuscript from his friend, Davey Graham, who wrote the song.

  • *sigh* someday ill be able to play like that

  • Love it!! and Thanks for posting this gem.

  • ha girl at .42 is in awe

  • i reckon she's thinking the same thing as me, which is, 'this great, but which one is simon?'

  • eddie had a band in the late 60's called guilded cage of light or something like that. he later went to open up the guitar study center in nyc; after that, dunno.

  • they look like some stupid parrot from a Disney movie, but the musical performance is brilliant, so keep your mouth shut. I've got to guess you've got no reason to call them assholes and dick heads.

  • Are they twins? They look an awful lot alike.

  • nah, Ed's like 4 years younger. But they do look a lot alike!

  • This is absolute gold

  • Wo! Sweet. You have footage of Paul's brother. Wicked awesome!
