i like to see him walking slow at the end after hitting the tires at the speed of light.i cant imagine how he was when young!!!i am impresse thats all i can tell u.hope u still can train and amaze all martial arts lovers for an extra 10 years maybe more.respect from IMPACT GYM KL!!!
This is the real deal battle tested system. The only Eskrimador given a presidential award by the late Pres.Marcos, Unlike other Eskrimadors called themselves masters without any possession to prove what they claim" I'am proud to be part of it Proud of the system I acquired developed farther and farther. It molds me to be a champion of the different descipline I've got and in the future of the system I newly addapted" Thanks to Cacoy Canete System of Martial arts.
Keep it positive, there's no reason to slam the idea of Eskrima simply because of your opinions. GM Leo Giron and several others were decorated in numerous World Wars. The great late GM Floro Villabrille fought in countless death matches undefeated. The Presas family set up foundations in the Philippines and brought modern arnis to America. Grandmaster Angel Caballes developed the Serrada style and was the first to teach in Stockton. If the cup is full how can you share in anyone else's tea?
my master in doce pares trained under him and even he says that cacoy is really amazing! and even with old age it didn't stop him to be greater hat before. I'm really amazed by Gm Cacoy! Long live Doce Pares!! Long Love GM CaCOY!!
Eskrido blends Corto Kurbada Eskrima with techniques and concepts from Judo and Ju-Jitsu. This is the personal style of Manong Cacoy Canete. (ESKRI - from Eskrima DO - from juDO) also ESKRI - from Eskrima DO - from DOce Pares.
thanks stickmaster. I just came from a San Diego Seminar in El Cajon 7.28.07 n Cacoy had shown us techniques for 6 hours. It was awesome... I have mad respect for this man!... Suncoverer about ur comment.. u can believe what u want but Doce Pares doesnt have to do much changes when u fight people with swords.. this is the modern version multistyle of eskrima with japanese techniques from judo.. Suncoverer.. Cacoy is undefeated... nuff said..
wow! this guy is amazing! is this doce pares? anybody want to help me compare. I want to start just don't know which is good. recently a local petiki teacher keeps told me that doce pares is not realistic. and that they consider their stick a real sword. what about doce pares. does it use a real sword?
it all depends on who you train with. it's not about schools, it's about who your training with. the fact that a pekiti tersia teacher would tell you that doce pares is not realistic leads me to believe that either he's not been in the game for very long, or he has something against doce pares as a whole. the club i train with practices pekiti tersia and we have a pretty open mind about everything out there.
BSuncoverer, yes, Doce Pares considers the stick to be a sword. When you are taught, the rules are the same either way for stick or sword. What you cannot see, since you have not trained is that the student is trying very hard to disarm GM Canete and GM Canete is countering the student's counters. The Pekiti Tersia instructor you spoke with is mistaken. He may have said that because the filipino military trains in Pekiti Tersia. That does not diminish the lethality of Doce Pares, though.
Sticks easily translate into sword and knife fighting. I didn't train in knife fighting yet in Doce Pares, but was suprized how easily the stick fighting I did, transferred to knife fighting when I beat the black belts and brown belts at the karate school I went to. I mange to mark up all the black belts gi's and barely had a mark on mine. I had to stop myself from laughing. It transfers easily.
Cacoy is one of the greatest Martial Artists I've ever met. I think now he's 87 years old and You would not expect him to have a grip like a maschine! But trust me, he has! ;-)
ill Try to train hard with this. love you. Long Live Doce Pares
