is this the one where the optic in the pub somehow becomes the image of the woman's drip in hospital?i don't know where iv seen that but it gives me the creeps
I think this only played in the cinemas, not on television so it's even more amazing that this ad has stayed in my mind perfectly. I can't listen to the song without thinking of it. The parallels in it are so effective.
I want to see hard hitting pifs again, they ar great, but these days the ad people would recieve 3 complaints, treat it like a million and pull it off which is bull.
The last few Think ads havnt been memorable, a bar man doing an impression of me and cgi children dont make a great ad for me.
Although the speeding one with the boy everywhere the man goes is a good one
An excellent ad -- I remember this distinctly growing up in England -- it's powerfully effective. You need serious ads like this to address such a serious problem like drink driving.
Thanks for posting this, I've been looking for this for years. It really stuck in my mind when I was a kid. I was wondering who the song was by for 30 years!
The most effective adds are the GF dying adds b/c they hit them hard... REAL HARD! 1st time I saw one I broke into tears, and I don't even have a license.
Holy shit!,i remember seeing this at the cinema when i was about 8 or 9 and it always stuck in my mind. Its still as moving and shocking even now and actually sent a shiver down my spine. Thanks for posting this.
I find these old PIFs much more poignant and convincing than our newer ones. These are meant to shock and upset, and thats what makes them stick in my mind long after having seen them!
Oh right I know now

at first it looks like a movie advert, then it looks like a comedy (for two seconds mind you) and then its serious

Well done for posting this film.
This must rate as one of the best anti drink drive commercials ever made.
I remember it being shown on the TV at the time and it really hit the mark.
It's a pity the modern ads are not as well made.

Oooooh, that sent severe shivers down my spine when the song cut dead at the end...!!!

should play this before the new text while driving message then show the amount of deaths on the roads between 79-09 i bet the figures are as scary
minty73 2 years ago
@minty73 agrees. Cow (the newer ad, no insults) looks more like a horror flick.

@moksheebs yeah. admakers should use this as an example: a clearly-pictured scene with a fitting number.

Cheers (pardon the pun) for posting this. I've tried to remember the song that went with this PSA for 20+ years!

Yeah I agree, I find that the older PIFs are more effective then the more recent ones, because they are made to shock and in some, they do it well.
