Exactly. The David McGahan character originated as a reporter in the news spoof "National Nightly Network News." Then they made him a klutzy documentary presenter for a while. Then they had more fun with the character by making him this terrible action movie actor. Only Shaun Micallef could have carried it off with such aplomb.
