Strange argument people have started on here. How can you play the drums "quietly"??? I remember sitting in at a few rehearsals of my sister and the band she is with. My brother, the sound technician was tearing his hear out cos everyone kept complaining to him how loud the drums were, the singers kept asking for more more volume in their mics etc. The drummer showed us how the drums sounded if he tried to tone it down - like hitting a frying-pan with a straw. Wish they had this plastic thingy:)
@imjohnsbitch As happened to Howard Tibble in Cornwall not long back - one flew from his hand right behind Shaky - so i wouldn't be surprised if this is the reason. If it was sound - why bring one in now after all these years? Shakinjonny chats shit :P
well he should tell the drummer to play quieter! never seen such a stupid thing before I hope this piece of kit gets stuffed in the bin asa soon as possible
@cavanfan "never seen such a stupid thing before"...The I guess youre not a musician yourself??
I´ve seen it in plenty of bands/performances. And we also used it in my Band as well, when we were playing in small rooms where you cant turn the drums lower.
@cavanfan because of the noisy sound such a drumset makes! I can be difficult for a singer to hear the monitors onstage, if you have a drumset too close in your back!
So the screen is there to lower the sound from the drums.

At last someone who agrees with me, most drum kits are miked up so that stuffs the volume argument and singers use a earpiece instead of a monitor.

Do drummers normally throw their sticks at singers? maybe they should more often........................

What a load of bull, the screen is a health and safety issue to protect you from flying
drumsticks should they break or fly from the drummers hand.

As I allready said...its a sound thing.
