I don't find this interpretation very agreeable. The same must be said for Hahn's recording of the Chaconne. Rarely do you find players today that can play a decent Bach.
He's probably using an early 19th century bow. The sticks of those bows were kind of straight looking like if they were super tight. For a very skill full right hand, a tight bow could help the detached bow strokes.
@fullargon Actually....I'm a violinist and I played in the orchestra with him at a festival in the last year. He played several concertos and a recital in the span of a week and it was always a straight stick. I think he just prefers it super tight. I asked him about it and he blamed it on the altitude but it seems it likes that kind of tension. (I wouldn't dare to do that to my bow for fear of snapping the stick but hey, he's Gil Shaham...)
Apesar da afinal dele ser muito boa, eu ainda prefiro a versão das sonatas e partitas com Itzhak Perlman. A Chaconne dele tem muiiito mais vida, é como se ele estivesse tocando de toda a alma... Simplesmente Impressionante aquele Perlman!

I found this pitchy and didn't like the interpretation at all. I usually like his performances though. Hilary Hahn owns this piece.

@twiddle7125 Yes, she does. Keep in mind though. If you're referring to Hahn's CD, they have technology that adjusts the pitch to perfection.
