  • This is the kind of workout for chicks to get "toned arms", not guys... and they're knee push-ups, which guys usually don't do. It doesn't make much sense how lowering yourself in that motion, like a back extension, works your abs. Last time I checked, it works your lower back.

  • To make the pushups explosive by continue the way all up. Ofc se is using hr hamstings a little, but she won't tire there as fast as the shoulders, chest and arms.

  • @OrIoN1989 yes well a good workout does require you to tire, so if you wanna be a pansy and cheat your way to 10 easy reps, go ahead. if you want RESULTS, you must always opt for the harder more fatiguing workout, so if you can only do five real ones on your toes keep doing that until you can do more. that is how you become stronger and more toned, go for the harder option, it is ALWAYS better for you.

  • typical female exercises...there was barely any power in it and because her friend was holding her feet she cheated. if you look closely as the pathetic excuse for an explosive pushup you will see that as soon as her hands leave the ground she uses her hamstrings to pull her up, THE CHEATING TWAT! if you can't do it, don't lie about it.

  • Toned arms? I hate when people use the word "toned" in such a misleading way. You get toned by eating less, and making your muscle mass increase noticably. This does neither.

    If you clone a person, and they have equal body fat, but one has larger muscles, they will look more "toned" The majority of "toning" which is just a misleading word for "having less fat" is done in the kitchen. The fat burning from THIS kind of workout is almost worthless. Even cardio takes a major backseat to what you put in your mouth.

    But they way they use it is WRONG. Most guys don't say "plyo pushups for ripped arms", because they aren't stupid enough to believe that nonsense. No type of pushups burn enough bodyfat to make a damn bit of difference in how toned your arms look. For a woman who won't put on much muscle to begin with, eating less shitty food is the only "toning" she should have in her vocabulary.

  • great plyometric exercise and something I would incorporate in resistance workout....but yeah i have to agree with fasique about those wrist joint. it can lead to stress fracture if done over a long period of time. You can slightly modify it by holding light dumbells on each hands to lessen the impact on the joints when you go back to starting position. but otherwise its great.

  • Be careful with your wrists... those 2 exercises put a lot of pressure in your joints

  • I wish I would of had plyometrics when I was playing in high school in football 10 years ago so coach would of let me run the ball more instead of moving me to linemen because I didn't get to play much as an offensive linemen since I was so small

  • Being a trainer myself, I had to try this before giving it to ANY of my clients. I managed to do a good, solid 4 sets & my oh MY were my hams sore. Not a soul in the gym that night said they'd want to try this. Hopefully I'll get @ least ONE client to give it a shot...

  • No, the way these videos and others are demonstrating plyos does not fit the definition of plyos. Plyos need to set off a myotatic reflex. reflexes are involuntary.  these exercises are all under voluntary control.

    the only way to set off the reflex is to use things like a wobble board. that ensures firing of the reflex since you don't know what comes next.

    99.9% of what you see being called a plyo is a simple body weight exercise. Yet to see a real plyo by anyone.

  • Theses are by no means plyometric exercises.

    The strech-shortening-cycle is way too long for being called "shock-level".

    I'd rather recommend two 8-inch-high boxes to drop in between and immediately push-up on surface contact. It's crucial to eliminate the landing-phase and to limit the stretching amplitude to a minimum.

    Heavier athletes might wanna use boxing gloves and drop onto their fists instead of their palms for wrist protection.

  • Pylo is supposed to be about exploding, not going MORE SLOWLY. These are slower than standard pushups.

  • Thats not the way to do Plyo pushups. You are supposed to start from the bottom and push explosively upwards then have a bit of a pause before you push back up.
