What does it have to do with sanity?

The song is divided in two parts (three, if you count battle beat): one is creepy (like at start), representing Gerald Robotnik, HIS anger and lust for vengeance, that drive him to create such disgusting creatures like Biolizard. The other part is about Shadow's realisation of true Maria's wish, and resolve to follow it and break free from his somewhat true self as harbringer of destruction

The song is saying that Shadows desperate, but he believes that he can stop the ARK from colliding with earth. He says farewell to the shadows because the earth is his home and it's his duty to protect it. (Maria is giving him the strength to go on, leading him out of despair with her light) He did everything for her, no matter what it was, and everything feels like an illusion because he thought he was doing right till this point. He knows he'll die saving earth and that he'll lose her soon.

@game84cube It always felt to me like the Finalhazard was meant to be that easy. Kind of a way of rewarding the player after their victory by allowing them to take it easy with an awesome and flashy finale, since the Biolizard was so tough.

Oh man. This brings back ALOT of memories. When i first encountered him, i was like "THIS GUY IS BIG!!" My brother was so frustrated that he wasted over 30 lives. So he wanted me to take over. And for the last 8 tries, Ive defeated him. He was surprised when i called him that the cut scene is playing. I was like, 11, and he was like 18. And this was back when this first came out on Dreamcast Now i am 18 and i can still beat him and my brother still can't. xD Ah, memories. How i loved this game.

The song represents Shadow's creeping insanity, slowly eating away at his mind because of his past failure of not saving the only person that he ever truly loved when he could have easily done so.

It represents his anger and hatred for himself.

The distorted tone and melody is his sorrow and self loathing.

Shadow, knowing very well that he could die fighting this monster is trying desperately to hold on to his confidence and composure while trying to help save the world.

@Marksmandude If its the part when there's zero-gravity, well read this. Take your time floating onto the center, this part is a test of patience. You can't move too fast, you can't go too slow. When you see an opening, go for it and go with the floating orbs, keeeping your distance and turning real quick when you see one get too close to you. Once you get close enough, wait until Shadow's body floats upward and try to go for the center. Hope this helps!
