This is a wonderful thing! Lovely, haunting memories of cold, autumnal afternoons with close friends....bike rides, carnivals, dogs wagging their tails at your ankles, flag football, leaves....like the accompiniment of a silent 8mm movie. Something about this piece and your wonderful interpretion fills my eyes with tears and heart with mournful longing
This is by far the best interpretation of this piece I've heard. You so beautifully told the story of this piece and made me feel like I was back 100 years ago in France. I have arranged this piece for right hand piano and this really helped me in understanding what this piece is all about, especially in terms of arranging voices and lines for right hand only. great work!!!!
A beautiful performance..I think you captured it perfectly. A lot of the beauty of it has to do with nuance...the slight retards and hesitations make it as intimate as a whispered conversation, in my opinion. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!
Surprisingly it your second most watched video, and the music is quite simple, it is a song. Bach, Chopin and Liszt are too refined for the general public, they want to hear songs, not masterpieces.
I think that Satie is a genius but he was quite strange man: he was not attracted to women, only to music!
@uutbchh Hi, Ray. Yes, I am also surprised this is the second most watched one.
Simple music is difficult to play, like Clair de Lune by Debussy, Traumerei by Schumann, and Moonlight Sonata 1st mov. by Beethoven.( For Elise by Beethoven, too!)
I agree that Satie is a quite strange man. hahaha...
I don''t find it all that suprising that this one has the most views. Why? Because there are already lots of recordings of Bach and Chopin on youtube! This piece only has very few, increasing the chance that people in search of it might click on yours.
Oh, the first part is like singing a song, with a very beautiful accompaniment, then it is like a dance, then again alternating between singing and dancing ... My favorite part is the movement of the low bass! :D
Dear Chihiro, I listened to this video some 2 years ago while preparing a project and it helped me quite a lot in concentrating. Now I've found it again! I missed a front view of your face either at the beginning or end!!! Great performance. Kisses
@spidersense99 Hi, I am really glad to read your kind comment...If I would help you, I am very happy... I really want to say "Thank you!". Regards, Chihiro.
@SmileySushi4219 Thank you for your comment. I am so sorry to reply too late. How is your piano ? When you are ready and post your video on YouTube, please let me know !! I want to see / listen to yours!!!. Thank you again!
@sweetjaypee Thank you for your comment. About stopping while you play, I recommend you to practice it very slow tempo. You play without stopping in slow, then you play it faster a bit. Please try it !
Je Te Veux is one of those Satie pieces I like a lot but never took the time to learn. I strongly gravitate towards the 'beautiful' stuff like the Sarabandes...but you know, Je Te Veux has this delicious desperation to it....I'll pull out my book and bite it, thanks Penne.
Satie was like my patron saint when I was in highschool and university. It was very reassurring that you didn't have to be a Beethoven in order to write something beautiful. Since learning Je Te Veux I've enjoyed going through the many pieces I knew but never memorized. The Noctournes, Gnossienne #2 and #5, a few of the sports and diversions like 'Yachting' and 'Sea Bathing' (gorgeous) 'His monocle' from the dandy pieces (tragic) etc ... all 'cause I saw this old video of yours.
Reminds me of whimsical days of riding your bike across town and in the parks, observing all that surrounds you with a light heartedness. One of my favorite pieces for sure!
this song is awesome and you played it real well its just that whenever i play with my piano teacher around, she always gets really mad at me if i hunch my back like u were
A very strong and enjoyable performance, with much energy and rhythmic vitality, spontaneous and natural phrasing. It was like dancing (after all, a waltz). However, I have one main critique: the dynamic range and expression were limited. The score contains "pp" in various places, but I never heard it. Also, I missed hearing more gradual and subtle crescendos and diminuendos. Nevertheless, this performance is one of my favorite I found on youtube for its lovely rhythmic flow.
I adore this song. Every time i hear her play this song I have to clap my hands when she finishes ( I know that sounds silly). It it such a moving rendition. I first heard this song on gran turismo 4. I have loved it ever since. I listen to this version at least 3 times a week. I play it loudly and enjoy every note (except for the last). I would love to loop it to be able to play over and over again. CLAP, CLAP, CLAP!!!
Satie is my most favourite classical composer. Penne did a great job. Perhaps it could be played more feelingful, but that is the only thing I can blame her for.
ye theres really not much dynamic in this performance ive heard some amazing versions with plenty of soul and depth this just sounds like shes hitting the right notes t the appropriate time
Thank you for your comment and I am so sorry to reply too late.
I don't know the video game but my image of this piece is my childhood, especially went to the amusement park with dad and enjoy the merry-go-round, although I know the piece is a kind of love song.
