  • Ah, la belle époque...

  • Absolutely Beautiful! <3 thank you for sharing.

  • @GDsbiggestfan Thank you very much !! I am really glad♪

  • el cabaret mas hermoso del mundo!

  • C'est beau, on se croirait transporté dans cet univers parisien de fin du XIX ième siècle.

  • This is a wonderful thing! Lovely, haunting memories of cold, autumnal afternoons with close friends....bike rides, carnivals, dogs wagging their tails at your ankles, flag football, leaves....like the accompiniment of a silent 8mm movie. Something about this piece and your wonderful interpretion fills my eyes with tears and heart with mournful longing

  • This is by far the best interpretation of this piece I've heard. You so beautifully told the story of this piece and made me feel like I was back 100 years ago in France. I have arranged this piece for right hand piano and this really helped me in understanding what this piece is all about, especially in terms of arranging voices and lines for right hand only. great work!!!!

  • I saw sheets for Je Te Veux and you know what?

    ITS IMPOSSIBLE

  • @TehSalomon No it isn't; you just don't know how to read it. The multiple voicings are probably what confuse you.

  • @TehSalomon I am starting to read it, it's not that difficult. You just need practice

  • A beautiful performance..I think you captured it perfectly. A lot of the beauty of it has to do with nuance...the slight retards and hesitations make it as intimate as a whispered conversation, in my opinion. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!

  • @DavidCKendall Thank you for your kind comment. I am so pleased to hear that.

The performance was about 7 years ago. After this, I haven't played it, but I want to play it again one day.

Thanks a lot to you !!

  • Good video. I didn't know it was actual song, but I don't know if it's my laptop or something, but when the video plays, it looks glitched.

  • As mentioned by someone else, this piece featured in Binary Land, an old NES video game.

Thank you, for helping me relive my holidays at my granddad's place, years ago. Love how captivating this sounds.

  • Surprisingly it your second most watched video, and the music is quite simple, it is a song. Bach, Chopin and Liszt are too refined for the general public, they want to hear songs, not masterpieces.

I think that Satie is a genius but he was quite strange man: he was not attracted to women, only to music!

  • @uutbchh Hi, Ray. Yes, I am also surprised this is the second most watched one.

Simple music is difficult to play, like Clair de Lune by Debussy, Traumerei by Schumann, and Moonlight Sonata 1st mov. by Beethoven.( For Elise by Beethoven, too!)

I agree that Satie is a quite strange man. hahaha...

  • @pennehk

I don''t find it all that suprising that this one has the most views. Why? Because there are already lots of recordings of Bach and Chopin on youtube! This piece only has very few, increasing the chance that people in search of it might click on yours.

There's less competition, so to speak.

  • Oh, the first part is like singing a song, with a very beautiful accompaniment, then it is like a dance, then again alternating between singing and dancing ... My favorite part is the movement of the low bass! :D

  • @uutbchh Thank you, Ray. yes, I also like bass line. Very lovely and dreamy piece.

    I love it.

  • Very good playing.

  • @Klangzauberer Thank you so much! Though it was about 7 years ago...hahaha.

  • @pennehk Ever played a game called Binary Land?

  • I love this song, your video will go directly to my favorites :3

  • @EddyxAC Thank you so much!!!

  • Hermosa interpretacion. Te beso Chihiro en la proximidad imaginaria desde Cali Colombia

  • Hermosa interpretacion. Te beso en la proximidad imaginaria desde Cali Colombia

  • I would waltz to this. This music was also used in a classic 80s video game called Binary Land. Interesting selection.

  • @TheTallMan35 Hi, thank you for your comment. I didn't do the video game, but I know the name "Binary Land". Thank you for your information!

  • Dear Chihiro, I listened to this video some 2 years ago while preparing a project and it helped me quite a lot in concentrating. Now I've found it again! I missed a front view of your face either at the beginning or end!!! Great performance. Kisses

  • @spidersense99 Hi, I am really glad to read your kind comment...If I would help you, I am very happy... I really want to say "Thank you!". Regards, Chihiro.

  • ive been trying to learn to play je te veux for years, geez you're good. i still cant get it!

  • @SmileySushi4219 Thank you for your comment. I am so sorry to reply too late. How is your piano ? When you are ready and post your video on YouTube, please let me know !! I want to see / listen to yours!!!. Thank you again!

  • Are you on iTunes? This is an immaculate performance!

  • @spiritdegratis Thank you for your comment. I am not on iTunes. hahaha. Thanks!

  • i love how you play and i was amazed that you almost lost yet you managed to continue without stopping. i cannot managed that so i admire you :).

  • @sweetjaypee Thank you for your comment. About stopping while you play, I recommend you to practice it very slow tempo. You play without stopping in slow, then you play it faster a bit. Please try it !

  • i want u to teach me

  • Fantastic job. You should let me paint a portrait of you.

  • i loved learning this piece! But you play it much better. Good Job!

  • @2010xxpeoplezxx2010 Thank you so much!

  • It's an excellent performance! I feel very relaxed when I'm tired.

  • @gilles50didier52 Thank you for your comment.

Your words made me so happy.

    Thanks again.

  • Je Te Veux is one of those Satie pieces I like a lot but never took the time to learn. I strongly gravitate towards the 'beautiful' stuff like the Sarabandes...but you know, Je Te Veux has this delicious desperation to it....I'll pull out my book and bite it, thanks Penne.

  • @KrassoSzoreny Thank you for your comment.

This performance was about 7 years ago.

Recently I haven't played Satie's pieces, but I want to play again.

    Thanks a lot !

  • @pennehk

Satie was like my patron saint when I was in highschool and university. It was very reassurring that you didn't have to be a Beethoven in order to write something beautiful. Since learning Je Te Veux I've enjoyed going through the many pieces I knew but never memorized. The Noctournes, Gnossienne #2 and #5, a few of the sports and diversions like 'Yachting' and 'Sea Bathing' (gorgeous) 'His monocle' from the dandy pieces (tragic) etc ... all 'cause I saw this old video of yours.

  • this is very nice. you should do trois gymnopedie

  • @bluejayway123 Thank you for your comment.

I have played trois gymnopedie, but no recording.

  • I love Satie and the way you play this is amazing!

  • @GeeNightengale Thank you so much! I love to hear that. Thanks again.

  • Awesome,it engages not just sound but most of my senses and make me travel to paris.

  • @vamtire Thank you for your comment.

  • BRAVO !

  • @tug999 Thank you !!!

  • BINARY LAND nes GAMESSS! Love It!

  • Reminds me of whimsical days of riding your bike across town and in the parks, observing all that surrounds you with a light heartedness. One of my favorite pieces for sure!

  • I love your videos so much! You play beautifully and I was delighted to find you playing this song. Thank you for posting!

  • @showersinger547 Thank you for your comment. I am glad so much, and

I am so sorry to reply toooo late.

    Thanks again.

  • Reminds me of Paris and the sweet smell of croissants..

  • @mirrorpiece Thank you for your comment.

You made me so happy !

    Thanks again.

I want to have a sweet smell of croissant right now!!!

  • WOW! The best version of the song on the whole net! This makes me want to learn the piano.

  • @xxwhispers

    Thank you !!!

  • maldicion es hermoso, realmente tierno

  • Sí, lo malo es que cuando trato de hacerlo yo, mis malditas manos no quieren trabajar juntas

  • You've done a lovely job with this piece. Thanks for sharing the video of your performance.

  • Thank you so much! I am pleased!

  • Where is she playing, a construction site..?

  • thankyou for posting such a lovely performance. May I also say (without being a slimeball) that you look very nice in that dress.

  • Thank you for seeing it and your comment.

This performance was about 5~6 years ago.

So I am not sure whether I can play it or not now, hahaha...

But I want to play it again in near future.

    Thanks again.

  • I bet a little review of the piece will bring it all back to you. Give yourself more credit. You're a great pianist.

  • Have a listen to my Satie's Gnossiennes if you get the chance, thanks.

  • A very strong and enjoyable performance, with much energy and rhythmic vitality, spontaneous and natural phrasing. It was like dancing (after all, a waltz). However, I have one main critique: the dynamic range and expression were limited. The score contains "pp" in various places, but I never heard it. Also, I missed hearing more gradual and subtle crescendos and diminuendos. Nevertheless, this performance is one of my favorite I found on youtube for its lovely rhythmic flow.

  • Nada más de escucharla se me derriten los dedos y el corazón. Fantástica la interpretación!

  • she looks and sounds (and givn her name, she must even taste) delicious!

  • I adore this song. Every time i hear her play this song I have to clap my hands when she finishes ( I know that sounds silly). It it such a moving rendition. I first heard this song on gran turismo 4. I have loved it ever since. I listen to this version at least 3 times a week. I play it loudly and enjoy every note (except for the last). I would love to loop it to be able to play over and over again. CLAP, CLAP, CLAP!!!

  • It was on Gran Turismo? I have new respect for Sony!

  • Thank you so much for your comment and listening to it so many times!

    I am pleased very much.

    Thanks again!

  • Bravisimo!

  • Thank you!

  • wow =D

  • Satie is my most favourite classical composer. Penne did a great job. Perhaps it could be played more feelingful, but that is the only thing I can blame her for.

  • Thank you for your comment.

I love some of Satie's pieces, but I don't know all and I am not well at Satie.

This performance was about 5 years ago. Maybe I was a bit nervous. One day I want to play it again.

    Thanks a lot!

  • Good luck. I wish I could play as good as you.

  • you were just great! :)

  • Thank you so much!

  • ye theres really not much dynamic in this performance ive heard some amazing versions with plenty of soul and depth this just sounds like shes hitting the right notes t the appropriate time

  • I remember as a very young child hearing it for the first time in a Video game called Binary Land hehe. Since I have become a big fan of Satie

  • Thank you for your comment and I am so sorry to reply too late.

I don't know the video game but my image of this piece is my childhood, especially went to the amusement park with dad and enjoy the merry-go-round, although I know the piece is a kind of love song.

  • wow! not just good but great performance...two thumbs up...

  • Thanks, again!

  • wow...its really amazing ...

  • I have always tried to listen to some classic music, but just can't get myself into it until I listen to this clip. This is the first time in my life that I feel those so called concussion. Great music and fabulous performance. Thanks a million!

  • Thank you for listening to this video and your comment.

Your words made me so happy. I am pleased!

    Thanks a lot to you.

  • Good performance! I have a Decca recording with Pascal Roge that I enjoy very much. Although the sound from my brand new laptop is PRETTY crappy I believe this is a good interpretation of this tune.

  • Thank you for your comment.

I also love the recording by Pascal Roge.

This video's sound is not good because of editing.

I'm sorry. Anyway thanks a lot!

  • such passion.. RESPECT!

  • Thank you for watching it and your comment.

Your words made me happy, too.

    Thanks again.

  • The piece is beautiful, but it is beyond marvelous when accompanied by the singer.

  • Thank you for your comment.

    yes, I agree that.

  • Try playing the under melody as a staccato (the 'bap-bap'). It's a more playful style, but that's the thing; this piece is very flexible :). I like your interpretation though; well played! :D

  • Thank you for your comment and advice.

I will try the way next time.

    Thanks again.

  • Very musically played.

  • Nice! By the way this sounds a lot like Married Life from the movie Up. ?__?

  • hey, now that you mention it, the melody is kinda similar at times.

They're both lovely pieces aren't they?

  • fantastique!

    fuckin cool (Y)

  • A W E S O M E!!!!!

Congratulations! I felt very good while I was listening to you... thanks!

  • I should think you would disregard most of these comments. They can't spell, can't compose a sentence in English, have no idea of grammar, punctuation or music. So sad, the ugly Americans once making fools of themselves and doing a darn good job. Here's a good saying," Be quiet and they'll think you a fool, speak and everyone will know. I can't imagine this happening anywhere else. You play beautifully. There is romance, mystery, surprise, wit, and something beyond our world of everyday thought

  • My sentiments exactly; well thought.

  • Why can't you be happy with the fact that they like this song? I'd supposed that you'd think me to be a shallow individual for liking this song because of the old Famicom game "Binary Land"?

  • Sorry, silly me, somehow I got the impression that you spoke French. I said: Beautiful music, beautiful dress, beautiful lady, beautiful soul. Thank you.

  • Belle musique, belle robe, belle femme, belle ame, Merci beaucoup.

  • Merci, Thank you for your comment.

Unfortunately I can't understand what you wrote.

    I am so sorry.

  • Waw!!! c'est magnifique!!

  • fantisimo...lots of rhythm

  • Thank you,

  • Belle robe! Elle est très jolie!

  • Thanks!

  • i thinks it sounds great u performed it awesome. congrats

  • Thank you very much!

  • put a sock in it 14Gott your just hating dont hate just because you think you can do better, it doesn't matter how its played its always sweet....i loved it ^_^

  • Thanks a lot for you.

I don't care about that comment.

If someone doesn't like my performance, it's ok, they just leave away from here.

No need to watch/listen to this video.

  • Nice dress!

  • Thank you!!!

  • heey cmoon not baaaaaaad

  • I don't like this performance, it's unsensitive, it's very fast, you can't feel the sweetness.

  • bravisima¡¡precioso.

  • This is really a joyful piece, I tought Gnossienne No.1 was the best from Satie but this one is good too

  • encore! you did a great job with this, well performed

  • love this song and the interpreation ...i am a pianist too ...congrats

  • you fully aware you ruined the tempo at the beginning right? ... there is a pause after the intro

  • This is great! And this song is so fun to play on piano!

  • oh my god! I had this tune on my electric keyboard years ago! I had no idea it was Satie... wow, this brings back memories haha :) Amazingly well performed.

  • i know how hard this song is, i have the sheet music, and she plays it almost flawlessly. A great job.

  • can you please send me the sheet music of this wonderful piece?

  • She's not Rachel Z but i like the hell out of this........"molto exquisito"!
