according to me it went not as it should for any of them. Bowe had a tremendous talent but lacked the disciplines to train, and swelled up alarmingly between fights. This led to a pro career only eight years long! Golota, not as natural talented as Bowe, but a very good basis physics and no problems with training disciplines. His downfall was that he sometimes could not handle pressure, which would hurt his legacy, although he managed to perform some good fights after the Bowe-fights
It appears that Elijah that not have his heart in the fight, and Bowe knew it and took advantage of it. You can't win a fight unless you come there to win.
The real difference between the careers of Holyfield and Tyson can be best explained in college football teams. That is the best analog i can think of. Hoyfield played a Southern Eastern Conference schedule in terms of opposition, Didnt always win but fought the best. Tyson's opposition was like Boise State. Beat the crap out of them but who the hell was the oppositin. And then he did have opposition in the best of his time. Holyfield and Lennox Lewis and he was 0-3 plus he got upest by Douglas
@bobber0623 and 39 year old 3 year retired larry holmes won 4 rounds in there fight before he got careless and got nocked out. tyson ducked 40 odd year old foreman all his career, ridick bowe when he wanted to train fight and live like a boxer had so much potential, he fights just like joe louis tall strong heavys hands on the inside.
@MrLukedanger So Tyson ducked 40 year old Foreman yet fights a more dangerous fighter in Razor Ruddock twice! LMAO Old Foreman was getting pummeled by Alex Stewart, a first round knockout victim of Tyson, as well as Lou Savarese, another first round knockout victim of Tyson. Foreman was lucky he never fought Tyson.
@scotthovsepian88 yeh ali lost to frazier who got destroyed by foreman yet ali beat foreman, if were going off who beat who lennox lewis is the greatest fighter who ever lived.. lol... rudduck dangerous how many times was he world champ again? HAHA
@MrLukedanger Ruddock was avoided by Holyfield, Bowe and Foreman. If you were alive back then you'd know what I'm saying. He was better than Old Foreman and Tyson stepped to the plate. If Tyson signed to fight Foreman people like you would be saying he ducked Ruddock! The ALi-Foreman-Frazier was a stylistic ring, where Tyson was completely better than Stewart and Savarese at everything. Your analogy doesn't apply in this circumstance. Tyson would bludgeon Foreman for however long the fight lasts
@scotthovsepian88 i was alive 'back then' regarless if i was or wasnt the fights are on youtube, if rudduck was so good why was he never world champ? so bowe ducked ruddock to fight prime undefeated holyfield, 3 times, oh makes sence duck a guy who isnt even in the HOF to fight a 3 time world champ, like all tyson fans you use the words "IF" & "BUT" if don wepner trained for tyson for 20 years and had a time machine he would be the best of all time. yeah that sounds about right.
@MrLukedanger Ruddock was deemed far more dangerous than Holyfield at the time big guy! Watching youtube videos does't account for the general consensus at the time back then. Ruddock went 19 rounds with Tyson and was considered the guy to beat Holyfield. Holy was supposed to fight Ruddock but opted to fight Bowe instead. If you were "alive" back then you would have picked up on this einstein! Holyfield was borrowing the belt while Tyson went to prison. NEXT
@KingRhaul Well, everyone can voice their opinions. It's one reason why yee old world wide web was introduced and now flourishing. Just trying to weed out the weaker posts and responses, like "Well Ruddock wasn't a 3 time champ so he must be crap!" Ruddock grew up in the early 90's, the second greatest era of heavyweights. Second to only the golden age of 70's heavyweights. What people don't remember was that Ruddock was feared by all. WOuld he have beaten Holy and Bowe? Maybe, maybe not.
Tyson was past his best against Ruddock. The difference between the post-Rooney trained Tyson (his team filled with yes men and hanger-ons, not to mention the Don King/Robin Givens fiasco) and the Giachetti trained Tyson of the Ruddock fights is that Giachetti was trying to get Tyson back to proper training methods and technique, stuff Tyson lost when he left Rooney. Tyson was in better shape for Ruddock and wanted his titles back from Holyfield. Thing is he never listened to Giachetti.

Tyson was in better shape for Ruddock and wanted his titles back from Holyfield. Thing is he never listened to Giachetti.
@MrLukedanger Back in 1991 Ruddock was the most feared fighter after Tyson. The consensus was NOBODY wanted a piece of him back then. If you were "alive" back then you would remember this. Holyfield was borrowing the title until he would fight Tyson. Holy wanted to fight a rematch with Foreman while Tyson was wrecking the number 2 contender Ruddock twice. Tyson goes to prison and Ruddock is deemed the next big challenge. Holy ducked Ruddock to face Bowe with Lennox facing Ruddock.
@scotthovsepian88 he lost to journeyman David Jaco, people like tommy morrison destryoed him, like most tyson fans you rate rudock way more than anyone else who watches boxing, if the guy was so good and a number 2 contender then how come he was NEVER world champ, yet bowe was twice, holyfield 3 times foreman was moorer lewis rahma ext ext..
@MrLukedanger Tyson ruined Ruddock who wasn't the same after those 19 rounds of war. Ruddock suffered from asthma, hence his loss to Dave Jaco. Morrison was thisclose to getting knocked out until he landed that hook that saved him against a fat, close to shot Ruddock. Just because you don't win a world title doesn't mean you weren't good. Ruddock was very good and was around during the greatest or 2nd greatest heavyweight era of the early 90's. Keep proving that you weren't alive back then!
Like most Tyson haters who weren't around in 91 and use boxrec for their references, you have no clue how Razor Ruddock was perceived at the time. Fat Ruddock was knocking Morrison around the ring before getting caught with a picture perfect left hook. He had tons of flaws yet was feared by the best fighters of his day. Tyson stepped up and so did Lewis. It's well documented that Holyfield and Bowe wanted nothing to do with Ruddock at the time. Go search youtube and watch Ruddock-Dokes.
@scotthovsepian88 weather i was or wasnt around in 1991, and as a matter of fact i was, the fights are on youtube, the guy isnt even in the HOF or world champ and you have him and tyson as the greatest lmao people careers are not based of just what is the 'best' stage or fight, its based on the whole thing, and if he was so good how come a baby puncher like lewis could put him out in 2 rounds?
@bobber0623 Tyson's comp wasn't as good as Holyfield's, but whose was? Holyfield was struggling with fighters that Tyson was blowing out of the water. Holyfield was lucky Tyson went to prison.
riddick bowe was nothing more than guetto trash, lewis would have closed that big fat loud trash talking mouth of his if bowe hadn't ducked him,now i here he's bankrupt and fighting bums to put bread on the table, haha
Maybe not th ebest technically, but by far the most exciting and most fierocious. Like Teddy Atlas said, "You can't train a pitbull to kill and then be mad because he chews the furniture. Also Tyson said that the pay-perview money earned speaks for itself as his fight made more than any other in history.
Yeah I guess that is why Ali himself called Tyson The greatest ever, and that he would go to sleep fast if Tyson hit him. Look up Arsenio Hall Show Tyson Ali. Yet Tyson was humble enough to say that Ali is in fact the greatest. No fighter has ever had the speed of lightweight and punching power of a heavyweight except Tyson. He was not all there mentally but he is still the most exciting and most powerful puncher of all time. He also has a lung problem, yes Evander did headbutt, watch "Tyson"
@strontvinger2001 i agree not only foreman but tyson didnt fight so many decent heavyweights of his.time. Bowe, Mercer, Kilitscho (vitali not his bum brother), Michael Moorer, wasnt able to avenge his loss with Douglas. Even Tommy Morrison was a fighter that if you killed him like Mercer did could enhance your reputation. The odd about Mike Tyson as opposed to say Holyfield is with Holyfield i go to youtube and put Holyfield and a decent fighter and i get a fight. with Mike you get a simulated
@bobber0623 Well, Tyson actually fought some good, talented fighters coming off the crest of the Ali era. Berbick was durable, Bonecrusher didn't fight, Thomas was game and Tyson trounced him, Tucker was solid, Tubbs was talented, Holmes had come back 4 years later to give Mercer his first loss and give Holy a good scrap, Spinks had never been knocked down before. The 80's was a very underrated decade.
I do get some of the attraction: his early round KOs were pretty intoxicating - lots of excitement. The intimidation... it was a great deal like wrestling or a dramatic movie.... in other words, its exciting for children to watch, like a monster movie
i agree, when tyson fired rooney..nd started messin with don king and robin..it really messsed up his head..nd he lost his focus..the media got to him to..he couldnt dela with the preasure
bowes style was very pleasing 2 the eye, was a very smooth fluid boxer, excellent jab and good vartiety, stylistically he looked more impressive and polished than lennox lewis, although i think lewis was physically stronger than bowe, and maye had had the edge in punching power also...its a shame that fight never happend
Riddick Bowe - good but not great as a fighter. This might just be his best performance! Struggled with the solid but uninspiring Andrew Golota, beat an average Holyfield who made his name head-butting Tyson and being allowed to get away with it, and was too scared to face Lennox Lewis.
You're a fucking idiot if you think Holyfield was average. As for his fight with tyson, he kicked tyson's ass all around the ring, your pathetic tyson fan boy excuses are gay.
Way to try and sound tough on youtube you loser! Maybe when I see you in a boxing clip I might worry about what the fuck you think... Lennox Lewis showed up Holyfield for the cheating loser he always was, plus Holyfield losing to Riddick Bowe when Holyfield is supposedly in his "prime"! If you worship Holyfield you need to get out more
I'm not trying to sound tough, I'm telling you you're an idiot. I don't need to box to critique a boxer, you fucking utter moron! Both Bowe and Lewis are better than Tyson, and Holyfield beat Bowe and fought Lewis to a standstill. And he kicked mike tyson's ass all around the ring. You're dickwad's dickwad.
bullshit on the headbutting, the old tyson fanboy excuse. Tyson himself cheats like a bastard. And Tyson ran into holy's head. Tyson SuCKED. He was overrated. He NEVER beat a top flight boxer. Ever.
one of the most stupid comments iv seen on youtube, foreman was slow plodding n dumb, tyson was electric n the best finisher ever.see the fanny bats from ali that stopped him? watch tyson v spinks/botha/thomas n see tyson doing what he does best
tyson style is made for foreman and even prime tyson was afraid from old foreman says enuf no? no fighter in the history of boxing can come foreward to foreman and win and thay is wat tyson is doing comming foreward prime foreman kills him in 2 rounds old foreman in 12 somwhere if u know boxing u know this is treu
@strontvinger2001 II scoffed at this comment at firdt but after thinking about it I think the Foreman that fought Evander Holyfield would have ko'd the post prison Tyson, who never trained, and had sloppy technique and relied on the big punch. But I still think Mike Tyson '85-'89 was unbeatable. Had he stuck with Rooney and the D'mato system theres no limit on what he could have done
@ghengisnghe was that a complement? On YouTube you can never tell. But honestly, whats there to really write about these days. Boxing has seen bad days before but the sport is really killing itself these days. For whatever reason the only fight fans REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see is probably not going to happen. hell, the top 5 fights I want to see these days arent going to happen
@Robstailey doesn't matter he said tyson n ali only boxers to be remembered in 100years .. hes not sayin tyson is the best or anything just stating the fact that tyson an ali are the most known boxers ever ..
hahah nigga you make me sick for talking shit about a man that puts his life on the line everytime he steps in the ring while you sit on your computer and talk shit about him you ignorant fuckkkkk
@kuluku Yes indeed, but he was finished as a fighter. It would have been sucide too meet Golota a third time, don't you agree? Or do you think a fighter allways can be in his prime throughout his whole career. Mention one in that case.
@Dnamsak I agree with that. Anyway he prepared for five months and trained super hard for the second fight, but still got sound beating, because Golota's style is just cramp his.
Bowe was never the same after the Hollfield fghts, neither did Hollyfield. Bowe his speach was very bad, there where signs of braindamage. So you could sa that he was'nt prime against Golota.
@86pimp3 no he took one too many fights with Holyfield. This wonderful fighter will so many skills except defense just took too many punches. As he staggered to he feet in bowe holyfield III in round 6 even though he was able to come back and win the fight he left his prime in that ring. If Bowe would have fought Golata before he fought Holyfield he would have killed him. I have watched other Golota fights. Not a great fighter. The ghost of holyfrield was in the ring with Golota
@bobber0623 I agree with you here. Bowe was shot to shit against Golota. His wars with Holyfield took a lot out of him as well as his blowing up between fights.
I remember watching on tuesday night knockouts he was saying "im the best chin fighter in the world!" then started kicking bowe haha, this definately showed he really wasnt :)
One of whose? Iam European by blood, just so thats said. And btw, a Dane could tell better if its Dutch or not, Norwegian doesn't sound much like Dutch but Danish does.
You clearly don't know your languages too well do you. Dutch and Danish sound similar to the untrained ear, but Danish and Norwegian are mutually intelligible because they are from the same Scandinavian language group, not to mention Danish was the official language of Norway at one time. So a Norwegian could identify Dutch equally as well as Dane. Your not in my weight class, don't try to compete ;)
You are stupid. So I dont know if this will do any good: Danish and Norwegian-very similar languages but very different pronounciations. Dutch and Danish-not as similar but the pronounciation is more similar.
Furthermore, if you knew as much about this as I do, you'd know that an average Norwegian can barely understand a Dane when he speaks to him. When I read Danish, I understand about 90% but when I listen to it I understand maybe 20%.
Funny that, you must be stupid. I lived in Oslo for 4 years, no one had any problems understanding or conversing with Danes, me included. It was in fact, easy. I guess you're just slow, and your naive appraisal is in no way representative of the truth. The average Norwegian can understand Danish, you are just not the average Norwegian. You really should stop speaking about things you have a poor knowledge of. It really doesn't bode fondly on you.
Bowe could've and should've been so much better than he was. Yeah, I know he became undisputed heavyweight champion, but he had the tools & size to be a fearsome, dominant force in the division for several years. Instead, another boxing enigma.
Could well be, Bluenote. But as I recall, his reputation for laziness and poor judgment both preceded and followed his involvement with any particular management. I think Riddick has to own much of the responsibility.
I think both he and Buster Douglas could have been wonderful 'big men' in the sport.
Actually, Kulu, I think at one time he was the best in the sport. But as you point out, his time at the top shouldn't have been so short-lived.
BTW, Golota whipped him twice. Talk about a talented fighter with mental issues!! The heavyweight championship of the world in his hand for the taking -- and he throws it away . . . TWICE!!
Golota beat Bowe a couple of times when Bowe was in prime, but Golota never metured in mental to become a great champion besides he has all the staff to beat any top heavyweight. Golota is the great waste of talent.
I agree. Physically, I think he had the goods, but it seemed like some of the wires upstairs just weren't connected. Kind of a shame, as he showed twice against Bowe how dominant he could've been. But I guess sports is full of "coulda, shoulda, woulda", right?
u guyz know andrew bit a guy!!samson pahoa,n got away with it too..head butt a guy so bad the guy staggered off n dropped in the corner, did that too..lol
I always thought Golota was paid off to lose those fights. He hands Bowe his ass in both fights, but then only to conveniently get DQ for low blows, I don't buy it.
love boxing, but sometimes it looks brutal even to me..see that guy turnin his back 2 get away..glad that want me gettin hit wit that monster right sheesh
according to me it went not as it should for any of them.

Riddick Bowe - good but not great as a fighter. This might just be his best performance! Struggled with the solid but uninspiring Andrew Golota, beat an average Holyfield who made his name head-butting Tyson and being allowed to get away with it, and was too scared to face Lennox Lewis.
18RandyAndy 2 years ago
You're a fucking idiot if you think Holyfield was average. As for his fight with tyson, he kicked tyson's ass all around the ring, your pathetic tyson fan boy excuses are gay.
DocWyoming 2 years ago 2
Way to try and sound tough on youtube you loser! Maybe when I see you in a boxing clip I might worry about what the fuck you think... Lennox Lewis showed up Holyfield for the cheating loser he always was, plus Holyfield losing to Riddick Bowe when Holyfield is supposedly in his "prime"! If you worship Holyfield you need to get out more
18RandyAndy 2 years ago
I'm not trying to sound tough, I'm telling you you're an idiot. I don't need to box to critique a boxer, you fucking utter moron! Both Bowe and Lewis are better than Tyson, and Holyfield beat Bowe and fought Lewis to a standstill. And he kicked mike tyson's ass all around the ring. You're dickwad's dickwad.
DocWyoming 2 years ago
You must respect Tyson, he was a warrior, and Holyfield is not a saint. Evander used the headbutt against him.
Tyson prime will always the best boxer ever, you dont have respect when you write, you have to learn it.
chamanista 2 years ago
bullshit on the headbutting, the old tyson fanboy excuse. Tyson himself cheats like a bastard. And Tyson ran into holy's head. Tyson SuCKED. He was overrated. He NEVER beat a top flight boxer. Ever.

prime tyson coud never defeat foreman so he cant be the best ever

one of the most stupid comments iv seen on youtube, foreman was slow plodding n dumb, tyson was electric n the best finisher ever.see the fanny bats from ali that stopped him? watch tyson v spinks/botha/thomas n see tyson doing what he does best
HENRYHOBBS1 2 years ago
tyson style is made for foreman and even prime tyson was afraid from old foreman says enuf no? no fighter in the history of boxing can come foreward to foreman and win and thay is wat tyson is doing comming foreward prime foreman kills him in 2 rounds old foreman in 12 somwhere if u know boxing u know this is treu
strontvinger2001 2 years ago 2
@strontvinger2001 II scoffed at this comment at firdt but after thinking about it I think the Foreman that fought Evander Holyfield would have ko'd the post prison Tyson, who never trained, and had sloppy technique and relied on the big punch. But I still think Mike Tyson '85-'89 was unbeatable. Had he stuck with Rooney and the D'mato system theres no limit on what he could have done
amensupremera 3 months ago
@amensupremera with your knowledge you should write for a boxing magazine.
ghengisnghe 1 month ago
@ghengisnghe was that a complement? On YouTube you can never tell. But honestly, whats there to really write about these days. Boxing has seen bad days before but the sport is really killing itself these days. For whatever reason the only fight fans REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see is probably not going to happen. hell, the top 5 fights I want to see these days arent going to happen
amensupremera 1 month ago
@strontvinger2001 forgive the mispellings

@Robstailey doesn't matter he said tyson n ali only boxers to be remembered in 100years .. hes not sayin tyson is the best or anything just stating the fact that tyson an ali are the most known boxers ever ..

@kuluku Yes indeed, but he was finished as a fighter. It would have been sucide too meet Golota a third time, don't you agree? Or do you think a fighter allways can be in his prime throughout his whole career. Mention one in that case.
Dnamsak 3 months ago
@Dnamsak I agree with that. Anyway he prepared for five months and trained super hard for the second fight, but still got sound beating, because Golota's style is just cramp his.

Bowe was not in his prime when he fought Golota.
86pimp3 2 years ago 10
Bowe was never the same after the Hollfield fghts, neither did Hollyfield. Bowe his speach was very bad, there where signs of braindamage. So you could sa that he was'nt prime against Golota.
bcibibcibcpCB 2 years ago
@86pimp3 no he took one too many fights with Holyfield. This wonderful fighter will so many skills except defense just took too many punches. As he staggered to he feet in bowe holyfield III in round 6 even though he was able to come back and win the fight he left his prime in that ring. If Bowe would have fought Golata before he fought Holyfield he would have killed him. I have watched other Golota fights. Not a great fighter. The ghost of holyfrield was in the ring with Golota
bobber0623 8 months ago
@bobber0623 I agree with you here. Bowe was shot to shit against Golota. His wars with Holyfield took a lot out of him as well as his blowing up between fights.

What language is this for pete's sake??
Jorsalfar 3 years ago
If you are norwegian, then you must clearly hear that it is dutch
Greker 3 years ago
I am not Norwegian in ethnicity, just citizenship.
Jorsalfar 3 years ago
Ah! One of those.
stillceaser 3 years ago
One of whose? Iam European by blood, just so thats said. And btw, a Dane could tell better if its Dutch or not, Norwegian doesn't sound much like Dutch but Danish does.
Jorsalfar 2 years ago
You clearly don't know your languages too well do you. Dutch and Danish sound similar to the untrained ear, but Danish and Norwegian are mutually intelligible because they are from the same Scandinavian language group, not to mention Danish was the official language of Norway at one time. So a Norwegian could identify Dutch equally as well as Dane. Your not in my weight class, don't try to compete ;)
stillceaser 2 years ago
You are stupid. So I dont know if this will do any good: Danish and Norwegian-very similar languages but very different pronounciations. Dutch and Danish-not as similar but the pronounciation is more similar.
Jorsalfar 2 years ago
Furthermore, if you knew as much about this as I do, you'd know that an average Norwegian can barely understand a Dane when he speaks to him. When I read Danish, I understand about 90% but when I listen to it I understand maybe 20%.
Jorsalfar 2 years ago
Funny that, you must be stupid. I lived in Oslo for 4 years, no one had any problems understanding or conversing with Danes, me included. It was in fact, easy. I guess you're just slow, and your naive appraisal is in no way representative of the truth. The average Norwegian can understand Danish, you are just not the average Norwegian. You really should stop speaking about things you have a poor knowledge of. It really doesn't bode fondly on you.

boxerpuncherj 3 years ago
Bowe could've and should've been so much better than he was. Yeah, I know he became undisputed heavyweight champion, but he had the tools & size to be a fearsome, dominant force in the division for several years. Instead, another boxing enigma.
pnutbutrncrackers 3 years ago 3
He was horribly managed.
bluenote71 3 years ago 3
Could well be, Bluenote. But as I recall, his reputation for laziness and poor judgment both preceded and followed his involvement with any particular management. I think Riddick has to own much of the responsibility.
I think both he and Buster Douglas could have been wonderful 'big men' in the sport.
pnutbutrncrackers 3 years ago 2
He was a top fighter, but he's never been the best. He has problems both in mental and physical aspects.
kuluku 3 years ago
Actually, Kulu, I think at one time he was the best in the sport. But as you point out, his time at the top shouldn't have been so short-lived.
BTW, Golota whipped him twice. Talk about a talented fighter with mental issues!! The heavyweight championship of the world in his hand for the taking -- and he throws it away . . . TWICE!!
pnutbutrncrackers 3 years ago
Golota beat Bowe a couple of times when Bowe was in prime, but Golota never metured in mental to become a great champion besides he has all the staff to beat any top heavyweight. Golota is the great waste of talent.
kuluku 3 years ago
I agree. Physically, I think he had the goods, but it seemed like some of the wires upstairs just weren't connected. Kind of a shame, as he showed twice against Bowe how dominant he could've been. But I guess sports is full of "coulda, shoulda, woulda", right?
pnutbutrncrackers 3 years ago
Yes, too much coulda, shoulda ,woulda, and too much regrets and pities!

u guyz know andrew bit a guy!!samson pahoa,n got away with it too..head butt a guy so bad the guy staggered off n dropped in the corner, did that too..lol
clawfish1 3 years ago
I always thought Golota was paid off to lose those fights. He hands Bowe his ass in both fights, but then only to conveniently get DQ for low blows, I don't buy it.
ninjanizzle 3 years ago
Maybe, he dominated both fights but lost them very stangely. Golota is the only man defeated prime Bowe anyway, neglected his stupid low blows.
kuluku 3 years ago
I agree cause bowe's a fucking bitch. avoding lewis cause he waaaas scared of being knocked out like was in 88 olympics.
