Go cam a honda what 20hp go cam a mustang 60+hp. Do head work honda if lucky 80hp with cams do it on a mustang 120+ depending on port and valve size along with cam. This one only has 540hp at the wheels, and the driver on the Z06 sucked balls on that launch.. A stock Z06 in the hands of a skilled driver will run low 11s on the 1/4 mile, whereas a stock GT-R does mid to high 11's trapping at about 10mph less than the Z06.
@xj220se It's funny comparing these 2 since the GTR is a much heavier car w/ an automatic and AWD yet the Z06 can barely outrun it. Actually, the GTR is really built to be a rally car. Imagine it w/ a 6spd and RWD.

The guy driving the Z06 is not doing that car justice. A skilled driver can go 11's on street tires in a stock Z06 and a 540 RWHP Z06 should be atleast 11.30's on a street tire. Cam only Z06's are going 10's on drag radials. If you can't beat on a 40mph roll ask him to race you from a dig in an AWD car so your feelings don't get hurt. I noticed no pop ups came on when that Z06 pulled past the GTR like it was pulling a trailer on the first 2 races.
@19USC78 there have been 10 second passes on stock drag radial z06s. its truly an amazing car. a tuned/i/h/e z06 should net mid tens on drag radials and low tens with a cam. It all boils down to the driver in reality.

For the guy with the modded GTR, When you can post a video like this, I will be impressed. This is ZO6 is still NA and on 93 octane. With only about 6 psi added, it would put a zipcode on you.
I love both of these cars, but the problem I see with the GTR is no RWD and no stick. I know it obviously wasn't built for straight line racing and more of a rally car, but I think RWD and 6spd should be standard and AWD + auto be optional. Think about how much weight it would drop and how much quicker it could be. Still a nasty looking car.
Owned a 07 Z06 and drivin a 2010 GTR for a long extent. Both great cars, I love them both, but for me the GTR was just too easy to drive. The AWD, the paddle auto trans, the size and weight of the car just made driving it not as fun as the Z06. The used GTR I drove had less than 2000 miles and had already two big warranty jobs done, which questioned to me it's the reliability. Both cars are great at what they do, it's a matter of personal preference .

@billybnr34 You have to remember that the GTR V6 has 2 turbos also which at approx. 15 psi is effectively doubling the displacement. The ZO6 actually gets better mpg than the GTR. Here is what a TT ZO6 makes on 93 octane.
Check out the fuel it was tuned on. The only hope you have is that the driver spins the tires for 3 gears. If not, the race is over before it gets started.
I wish I could post the link of this ZO6 listed on drag times. It has the factory shortblock, ported heads, cam, exhaust(stock mufflers), swapped in 4L65 auto and Vortech T trim @ only 8 psi running 93 octane. Guess what the timelip says?
9.54 @ 140.25 mph. That is on 93 octane and drag radials. Pulling out of an Exxon, mobil, Hess, Gulf or Wawa and running mid 9s. This thing is a killer.

But in a race track or in a real road situation, GTR is faster than Z06 getting from point A to point B.

Scary to think that japan so far produced the maximum hp of 280 sport cars. And the car like GTR is the nissan's first generation of sport car produced legally (max of 280hp law is broken now...) ,going side by side with Z06 and 997 480hp version turbo...just crazy!!
My dad's C6 Z06 has a CAI, bigger cam, long tubes, high flow cats, cat-back exhaust, and a tune. Put down 539 rwhp. I seriously doubt this Z06 has the same power. First gear struggles for traction the whole way, beginning of second still spins, and then once you hook the car takes off like a bat out of hell. 0-100 mph was way too slow for a 540 rwhp 3,000 lb car. Also my dad has easily (and I mean easily) walked 600 cc bikes from a roll. Either both cars are stock or the GT-R is very modded.

Random controls and air vents everywhere, bare plastic knobs, there's no design or style in the GT-R interior. I'd take a Corvette any day.
Just saw an 07 C6 Z06 for sale for only $49K with 5,600 miles on it. These are going to be such bargains and all used ones will be gobbled up quickly. Imagine picking up a low mileage Z06 one day soon for low 40s, adding D/Rs and having a 10 second car, with a 427, that gets 25 mpg. Interesting times we are living in.

Said it years ago. You can't compare them. Maybe the ZR 1 against a Spec v GTR tuned by Mines, or something smiler. Give them 20 laps at Tsukaba and see the difference in real weather conditions and chart the wins, losses and overall time. I love the newer vetts and the ZR 1, that thing is Auto porn. Though given the money and having owned previous GTR's, i would take the R35. Build quality and finish are superb where as the Vett's are so plasticy it's sad. Weird and wonderful GTR, love it.

The zr1 beat the gtr 0.3 seconds at the n-ring track which proves it can go around corners. The fact is it's a MUSCLE car and they're meant to go fast and straight...if you want to go around corners there are different options out there...and if you want to go around a corner there's japaense cars.

@justinjwr I agree. TT ZO6s are blowing past 700 rwhp on 93 octane with 8 psi on accident. Most are well over 1,000 rwhp. There are no 4 or 6 cylinder that will ever make what a small block aluminum 427 will make on 93 octane. There are also Heads cam ZO6s running 10.teens and 10.0s @ almost 140 mph still NA so this nothing new to me.

The Z06 is a great car, but these American car 'only' guys need to learn to appreciate the GT-R. i have no problem with all the technical wzardry in that car assist me in driving fast. It's an awesome vehicle for the price (which is the same msrp NEW as a Z06). The only thing that would make me lean toward the vette is the much less expensive maintenance costs.

I think comparing the ZO6 to a GTR in a straight line is stupid; of course the ZO6 is going to be faster based on power to weight ratio. However, the GTR was built for the track, not a drag strip. In that environment, the Z06 gets PWND.

This one only has 540hp at the wheels, and the driver on the Z06 sucked balls on that launch.. A stock Z06 in the hands of a skilled driver will run low 11s on the 1/4 mile, whereas a stock GT-R does mid to high 11's trapping at about 10mph less than the Z06.

But stock for stock, a Z06 beats a GT-R on the 1/4 mile, so go figure. IF you knew anything about the GT-R, you'd know how useless it would be if it had a RWD system. The weight on this car helps it a lot with its traction and stability controls

The guy driving the Z06 is not doing that car justice. A skilled driver can go 11's on street tires in a stock Z06 and a 540 RWHP Z06 should be atleast 11.30's on a street tire. Cam only Z06's are going 10's on drag radials. If you can't beat on a 40mph roll ask him to race you from a dig in an AWD car so your feelings don't get hurt. I noticed no pop ups came on when that Z06 pulled past the GTR like it was pulling a trailer on the first 2 races.

I love both of these cars, but the problem I see with the GTR is no RWD and no stick. I know it obviously wasn't built for straight line racing and more of a rally car, but I think RWD and 6spd should be standard and AWD + auto be optional. Think about how much weight it would drop and how much quicker it could be. Still a nasty looking car.

Owned a 07 Z06 and drivin a 2010 GTR for a long extent. Both great cars, I love them both, but for me the GTR was just too easy to drive. The AWD, the paddle auto trans, the size and weight of the car just made driving it not as fun as the Z06. The used GTR I drove had less than 2000 miles and had already two big warranty jobs done, which questioned to me it's the reliability. Both cars are great at what they do, it's a matter of personal preference .

I wish I could post the link of this ZO6 listed on drag times. It has the factory shortblock, ported heads, cam, exhaust(stock mufflers), swapped in 4L65 auto and Vortech T trim @ only 8 psi running 93 octane. Guess what the timelip says?
9.54 @ 140.25 mph. That is on 93 octane and drag radials. Pulling out of an Exxon, mobil, Hess, Gulf or Wawa and running mid 9s. This thing is a killer.

Z06 could be faster over all because its got lighter weight and more HP.
But in a race track or in a real road situation, GTR is faster than Z06 getting from point A to point B.
That's why it is 4WD and 'only 480hp'...
Scary to think that japan so far produced the maximum hp of 280 sport cars. And the car like GTR is the nissan's first generation of sport car produced legally (max of 280hp law is broken now...) ,going side by side with Z06 and 997 480hp version turbo...just crazy!!

My dad's C6 Z06 has a CAI, bigger cam, long tubes, high flow cats, cat-back exhaust, and a tune. Put down 539 rwhp. I seriously doubt this Z06 has the same power. First gear struggles for traction the whole way, beginning of second still spins, and then once you hook the car takes off like a bat out of hell. 0-100 mph was way too slow for a 540 rwhp 3,000 lb car. Also my dad has easily (and I mean easily) walked 600 cc bikes from a roll. Either both cars are stock or the GT-R is very modded.

@axtray How much is the Switzer P800 kit? Everything my dad has done to his Corvette costed him $5K. So seeing as how the Z06 is cheaper from the factory than the GT-R, go ahead and waste your money. Fiberglass isn't pure plastic and actually a lot of cars use it in their exterior because its so light and cheap. And yes, the GT-R has a way worse interior than the vette. I'm not a fanboy like you. Yeah the vette's interior isn't top notch but it doesn't have the worst interior ever made.

And if you think the Corvette is cheap, have you even sat in a GT-R? I sat in one at last years Chicago auto-show. Shitty interior, way worse than my dad's C6 Z06. Random controls and air vents everywhere, bare plastic knobs, there's no design or style in the GT-R interior. I'd take a Corvette any day.

Just saw an 07 C6 Z06 for sale for only $49K with 5,600 miles on it. These are going to be such bargains and all used ones will be gobbled up quickly. Imagine picking up a low mileage Z06 one day soon for low 40s, adding D/Rs and having a 10 second car, with a 427, that gets 25 mpg. Interesting times we are living in.

Said it years ago. You can't compare them. Maybe the ZR 1 against a Spec v GTR tuned by Mines, or something smiler. Give them 20 laps at Tsukaba and see the difference in real weather conditions and chart the wins, losses and overall time. I love the newer vetts and the ZR 1, that thing is Auto porn. Though given the money and having owned previous GTR's, i would take the R35. Build quality and finish are superb where as the Vett's are so plasticy it's sad. Weird and wonderful GTR, love it.

I don't really understand what was the point of this test.
I mean, putting 480bhp/1.7 ton car against 1.4ton/540rwhp(about 625bhp?).... The results are, well, pretty darn obvious.
Is this somehow suppose to prove that properly tuned Z06 is slightly quicker than bogstandard GT-R?? Well, point proven, go get yourselves a beer, chaps.

@DeltaWinters88 First of all i'm a big skyline fan previously owning a bnr32 skyline myself. What i'm trying to get at is the fact this this is 2010 not the 1960's. The zr1 beat the gtr 0.3 seconds at the n-ring track which proves it can go around corners. The fact is it's a MUSCLE car and they're meant to go fast and straight...if you want to go around corners there are different options out there...and if you want to go around a corner there's japaense cars.

Both can go straight and both can go around corners equally good. They just have different approaches to how it's done. Obviously American cars have advantage for power but Japesene for their light design and technology. Fan of both just don't diss the other side becuase they're equally good.

@justinjwr I agree. TT ZO6s are blowing past 700 rwhp on 93 octane with 8 psi on accident. Most are well over 1,000 rwhp. There are no 4 or 6 cylinder that will ever make what a small block aluminum 427 will make on 93 octane. There are also Heads cam ZO6s running 10.teens and 10.0s @ almost 140 mph still NA so this nothing new to me.

@kingssuck06 In an actual 1/4 mile the Z06 always loses, even at the supposed dig here the Zo6 was rolling up a little realizing his demise was at hand. This took 12 seconds by then the race is done (see 1:20 to 1:32) GTR does it in 11.6

@dinomagic That has too much to do with driver, unlike the GTR you actually have to have skill to drive a Z06, the guy in this video is terrible. There are stock Z06's all over the internet running low 11's, even 10's with simple drag radials. "Put similar mods and race again" hahaha what a ricey comment. The Z06 is a great car, but these American car 'only' guys need to learn to appreciate the GT-R. i have no problem with all the technical wzardry in that car assist me in driving fast. It's an awesome vehicle for the price (which is the same msrp NEW as a Z06). The only thing that would make me lean toward the vette is the much less expensive maintenance costs.

I think comparing the ZO6 to a GTR in a straight line is stupid; of course the ZO6 is going to be faster based on power to weight ratio. However, the GTR was built for the track, not a drag strip. In that environment, the Z06 gets PWND.
