Hey, great work! The one thing that stands out like a sore thumb, for me anyways, is that is no spray/splashing/waves when you hove above water. In real life, the thrust pushing down from the craft would kick up the water.
aaaaah... yes! looks very promising. don't stop that work, please! don't forget to add a cockpit view and a 1st person view. wipeout, 2097 and wip3out were great. but they have failed with the versions that came for PS2 and 3. they're too bloated. weapons like in wipeout ain't necessary. please focus on great controls and good physics. and more precipitous walls please. can't wait to play that game... i really hope you're creating an awesome game! good luck...
Ogre3d is just a rendering engine, To implement other aspects such as physics, You have to either do it yourself, or you can use the wrapper libarys specificly made for ogre. I moved from darkbasic pro about 1.5 years back, Never looked back since.
Indeed you do, C++ is the language ogre3d is writtern in, there are wrappers for C#, python and others. Just like shader languages tho, Many people think that the learning curve outweighs the advantages gained in performance, But i remember deferred shading running at a maximum of 100ishfps on my OC'ed 8800GTS, But on ogre it runs at 800FPS!
jesus christ.. do you people ever search ? You are on the freaking internet how the hell is it hard to google C++; No reason to ask where you can learn it because it is .. everywhere. Run into your local library and I bet there is a book about C++
@InsanePickle007 script? its a very popular and multi-purpose object-oriented programming language, able to create from the simplest program to the most complex game.
Ogre3D is a graphics rendering engine. Not a full game engine. Darkbasic is also a programming language, not an engine. Ogre3D would be better because of it using C++.
Hi! I noticed the environment shadows are loaded pretty late on (same time you switch to finer detail, I guess). Do you plan on changing that, or does it take up too much resources to see the shadows from bigger distances? What type of shadows are those? Regardless, impressive work Liquid Rock!
Hi ninanotturna, the shadows is currently set to near rendering distance and lower quality. However players can render all shadows with maximum quality if they wish to do so depending on their video card.
looks pretty decent so far, might I make a suggestion though? Your tracks are too close together if you're planning on having any more than 2 cars racing at one time. There is not much space to pass. Looks fantastic this early on though!
Hi Eastsidedeli, we will be having wide tracks in the future depending on the environment. The road track at this moment looks slightly narrow due to the camera height and angle but it fits 5 crafts arranged side by side.
Wow! That looks crazy fun. I really like the atmosphere you've built. But one thing bugs me: This futuristic racing vehicle made completely out of awesome doesn't get a chance to fly very often. Are you going to have bumps and jumps, or are you more concerned about speed and maneuvering?
Hi aarreessppllaann, the level design was created using our own level editor which is still very crude and in its early stages of development but it allows us to iterate and test different track designs quickly without redoing the artwork.
Great work! Now you should do some particles. Like some fire coming out of the back, or do something with damage that you can see things crumble and little pieces fly away or ripped away by the speed.
Thanks sjoerdkoala12, the effects mentioned will definitely be in once we've finalized this level for you guys to test it out when we release the demo. :)
Thanks. :) We just hope to get up to acceptable quality for gamers. We will definitely have weapons which should be used strategically with your other team members. >:)
Lol the title is just the description of the video encoding. Its a sci-fi racing game in the works by a couple of guys just my friend and I and this vid is just a preview of the level work in progress. No gameplay elements yet.
How's the progress...? Can't wait any longer... ;)

Well, I think youve have added dust by now, but it should interact with the water and perhaps debris, so it looks it has force behind it.

Yes, I've read it around the web... impressive... at first I thought it was a total conversion for UT3 for the Unreal Make Something Contest 2009!
