get another parakeet just place it in a different cage. try to play with one bird for a amount of time and the next for the same amount of time.

you shold get her a friend. she is already attatched to you so that probably won't change. it would just make her mo happy. you have very sweet bird!

@bumblebee8555 The pet store is correct. They will bond with you as a human if alone. Look at the videos by "snoogly" and you will see.

I think once you get really close with your bird, u should be able to get another one

its good to have another one, because while your bird interacts with you, she can interact with a bird friend too, its cute because they groom each other.

I had gotten two the very first time, and I actually got them trained pretty well, one was really nice and so when i got friendly with him, he was able to teach the other one that it was ok ^^

definately dont' expect her/him to talk its not something they always do :S possible but only with alot of attention and No mirrors or other birds around

She makes a kissing nose and makes the sound of the hamster on the wheel and....I have an idea...I can put a mic next to her cage and 10 hours a day repeat my voice (it will be a recording of course)with a word all the day long every day...Is that abuse? I think she may learn to say the word after awhile..lol

@LionGoddess1 Males are more more likely to learn to talk than females. But when you go to buy them at a very young age, it's very difficult to tell what the sex is.

She probably won't stay quite as close to you if you do get another bird... I lived among budgies for, collectively, c. 20 years. Though at the very beginning we had 2, one died soon after getting them (1971) and it was always 1 ever after; they all bonded with us really well! Mozart is a true beauty - enjoy her!

The first was Stuart, a standard green budgie... within a month or so came Margalo, yellow w/green at the breast/belly area. Margalo lived 8+ years, and was really sweet... first attached to my dad, then me and my mom. She died in c. late '79. Al came in 6/80. He was a deep, almost indigo blue and enjoyed bouncing around/upside down on an indoor clothes line! Sadly he flew away 2 months later. Then... HARI came! A kind of sky-blue, she/he (never knew) lived 11 years and was feisty & lovable!

I have a parakeet and she also loves the mirror. You should buy a little mirror that goes in her cage. I have two little mirrors in my parakeet's cage. One parakeet is just fine.

The store told me if I get a mirror in the cage she will bond to it and she won't be as close to me. Did your parakeet's behavior change in any way when you got the mirror? Keep composing! :-) I compose too. :-)

My parakeet does not use the little mirror in her cage that much. I've never been told not to put a mirror in the cage, and this is my second parakeet.
