I use wax on things I'd rather not dig glaze out of like the inside of lids or a textured surface that is to be unglazed. I use it for brushwork on a glaze that I will then glaze over so the first glaze comes through where I used the wax. Wax can work on a shino glaze to keep the soda ash from crystallizing where the wax is, and thus make a different color there. As for bad fumes, I'm not sure. I don't leave mine on very long and it's just wax, nothing mixed in. like a candle really.

In what cases do you use wax resist? I've read a bit of bad stuff about the fumes from wax.
