  • "i dont feel like teaching you the descending portion"

    like a boss

  • look at his for arm muscle...

  • "Not as hard as it looks"

    Pssh. Yea right.

  • Wait is this tosin's "official" channel?

  • @uidsea this is his channel

  • lol it looks really funny if you imagine the pick is his tongue:)

  • Me thinking: "Wait, the videos almost over, what about the descend-"

Tosin: "I don't feel like teaching you the descending portion, enjoy"

Me once again: "AWW TOSIN YOU ASS!!! Whatever, I still love you man :3"

  • LLOL the ending made me smile

  • Now this is just the ascending portion of the riff, but uh...

Your heads will implode if i show you the descending portion.... Enjoy :)

  • 6 strings arent enough for tosin

  • "now this is just the ascending portion of the riff but uhh...i dont feel like teaching you the uh...descending portion. enjoy."

    Tosin you sly dog hahaha

  • "I don't feel like" posting a comment on this video Tosin, but yet here it is. GET AT MY LEVEL.

  • @MrAwoodenship haha :D

  • I can't put a video response, but I hope you check out my version of this : )

    /watch?v=k8DpqMt-9qM

  • He's using a Gameshark...

  • Starting playing 2 years ago, picked up a guitar with no musical background, my school doesn't even teach music, looked for a music teacher but decided that it's not neccesary to waste money on that, i want to be a musician but schools like MI or GIT don't seem like my cup of tea.

Tosin me and you are so very different.

  • ASSHOLE! Teach me the last part too!!! :P

  • guitarists like jimmy page inspired me to play guitar,

guitarists like Tosin inspire me to give up playing....

how did you get so damn good?

  • anyone know where to find the descending portion?

    being taught.

dont care if its him teaching it as long as its accurate.

  • @TheTowerDark this is the descending portion, and just a fyi the guy in this video wrote cafo

  • @walkkdatshibby actually this is the ascending portion. i know the difference between ascending riffs and descending riffs.

he also says that at the end of the vid.

and i know who tosin abasi is.

  • I can play this now :D

  • @munruthel1 I can only play this by clicking the play button.

  • @tonmandude well that's sad :\

  • "I don't feel like teaching you the decending portion.. enjoy." Hahahaha. :D

  • What a badass, He totally teaches it different than he play's it. he switches the grouping on the A and D string.

  • Lmao love how he's like this is just the acsending portion I'd show you the rest but fuck it

  • When he slows it down he gets confused, the order of groupings goes 4-5-5-4-5-5-5

  • @tootlesflubb even jeff loomis gets confused when slowing stuff down..

your right..awesome break down of how to play it non the less..

  • His forearm..IS ALIVE!!!!

  • middle ring finger?

  • @allnightdwight middle and ring finger

  • @walkkdatshibby are you sure? he might've said middle ring finger you never know it might be a blackism

for like playing bass or something

  • @allnightdwight that's ignorant to say.

  • middle ringue finger?

  • Fuck the tip of my ring finger for being so squishy.

  • I don't feel like teaching you the descening portion :D

  • I like how in the description he's like it looks harder than it is but its really fun. Then he explains and it and your just like yeah everything easier than it seems when your a god

  • :) "I don't feel like teaching you the descending portion"

  • I love how he has his tongue out :L

  • @ColorfulHyena thats a plectrum lol

  • @ColorfulHyena AHA LOLLLL! thats his plectrum :')

  • @ColorfulHyena I love how he takes his tongue out at 0:25 ;)

  • What the government doesn't want you to know is that Bin Laden wasn't killed by the Navy Seals Team Six, but rather Tobin Abasi's nasty tapping riffs.

  • "You can choose any two fingers that make the most sense for you"

    I went Thumb, and pinky.

  • @Goth3m3 Lawl nice

  • He sounds like a surfer from long beach.

  • "Not as hard as it looks" damn... I didn't my guitar playing was that bad.

  • 9 people wanted to know the descending portion of the song

  • this guy is awesome!!!!!!!!!

  • "Now this is just the ascending portion of the riff, but euh... I don't feel like teaching you the euh... Descending portion. Enjoy." :)

Tosin you polite piece of shit guitar genius you!

  • Anyone notice that he says to hammer 7th to 9th fret on the A string but he does 7, 9, and 10? also when he says to hammer 9, 11, and 12 on the D string he only hammers 9 and 11..... which is it? compare the lesson to when he plays the whole thing towards the end to see.

  • @iviaverick52 i figured it out by ear recently (pretty easy cos no other instruments are playing) and on the cd version it goes like this:

    B string - (5,7,12,14)

    D string - (9,11,12,14,16)

    A string - (7,9,10,14,16)

    D string - (9,11,14,16)

    G string - (9,11,12,16,18)

    B string - (12,14,15,17,19)

    E string - (12,14,15,21)

    so its 4, 5, 5, 4, 5, 5, 4

  • If you ever see him play when he's wearing his undershirt on stage, you will notice that he is actually pretty ripped.

  • how in the name of all things shiny does he see all these patterns to write these riffs... Hendrix had acid induced synaesthesia... Satriani uses his bald head to pick up alien transmissions... and Santana is what happens when you mix beefy slinky's,sex, funk and jalapeños in a Petri dish.. but what's his magic?

there's knowing music then there's this eargasmic assault.

my ipod is so used to playing AAL tracks they make up all 50 of my top 50 most played... and I only have 10 tracks. :)

  • @TheOne2watch13 He's black, AND he's metal...unlike Hendrix

  • @TheOne2watch13 Didn't you ever learn that Tosin is really NASA's top secret new scientist? This is really part of a great scientific project that will impact on all our lives, with all of the equations in music form for simplicity's sake.

  • @TheOne2watch13 Tosin has the hat. and i bet he has pot :D

  • i dont feel like teaching you the descend9ing portion :D

  • @TheOne2watch13 its called music theory

  • @TheOne2watch13 its his fashion sense

  • I just wonder when it's gonna be not so sloppy, go ahead and talk shit to me, but you know if you play that's not clean, I'm not tripping I'm just saying, it would be waaaaay more destructive cleaner.

  • @WeveGotNoTimeToLose It isn't that sloppy anymore when he plays it. They just toured with Underoath, and he play his material very well, something he wasnt able to do early on

  • OBAMA!

  • Thats just amazing

  • Orange pick. OMNOMNOMNOM

  • 2 minutes to explain slowly.

    2 seconds to play live.

  • 9 people are idiots.

  • @35057 9 nine people are all from Chad Kroeger.

  • the master in his laboratory

  • my forearm muscle does that. if you have low bodyfat it takes barely any muscle to get that effect.

  • XoXLeviathanXoX

    Read the description :)

  • @Flyordie92 Oh lol thank you :D

  • What is this tuned in???

  • 0:56 - 2:31 Good, good... seems easy.

    2:33 - 2:35 WHAT THE F-

  • i really want to learn the whole song....but i only got 6 strings on all of my guitars=(

  • @tmvestbo you should invest in an extended range guitar even if you have to sell one of your 6es. they teach you a lot and are insane fun.

  • "I dont feel like teaching you the decending portion" lol god passed his judgement

  • Chris Broderick and Tosin Abasi IS the next cacophony!!!!!!!!!!

  • @edwin71TOR Don't forget Jeff Loomis

  • anyone else not like his tone?

  • @dramasticlyclever a great guitarist..but i would change the tone in their solos (it is confused...not clear)....sorry for my english

  • @starforce8007 "HIS solos"!!! :PPP

  • I thought his pick was tongue XD

  • This guy is almost as amazing as Petrucci. That's the best goddamn compliment I can give a guitarist.

  • @IbanezSAS36FM

Actually, technically Tosin has surpassed Petrucci. What Petrucci is stronger at though is consistency, Petrucci is almost NEVER sloppy or makes mistakes, I've heard Tosin make quite quite a couple of mistakes, but the stuff he comes up with is just insane. The intro sweep to CAFO, the completely insane clean parts on On Impulse, the tempos in Tempting Time, it's just so original and crazy.

You can't say one of them is better than the other, they are equals.

  • Deconstruct the monster sweeps at the start and end!

  • god i wish you did the descending portion

  • Damn near perfect custom guitar. Looks like it has a piezo. I wonder why they don't do more of those.

  • @GuillermoSmyser I think I've seen him talk about it and it has a piezo and also a synth pickup too if I'm not mistaken.

  • @elwoodj61 Well the only reason I would think otherwise is that I don't see how he could control it. It only has one mini toggle switch (electric, both, acoustic) and one extra knob (acoustic volume). So how does he turn on the midi synth?

  • @GuillermoSmyser hes tosin abasi, thats how

  • @GuillermoSmyser I read in an article somewhere he has a footboard that controls his amplifier setup, which is all digital. So the synth is probably on there.

  • haha at first it was his tongue sticking out but it was his pick! :D

    Amazing playing!

  • oh my god. he has the same voice as bruce leeroy on the ultimate fighter

  • But euh... I don,t feel like teaching you the desending portion. Enjoy! XD

  • LOOK AS HIS TOUNGE!! =D

  • @heusen234

    Thats his pick...

  • today, i showed this band to a music teacher. He had nothing but great things to say. I showed it then, to an english teacher who had nothing but bad to say. This is evidence enough for me that smart music is more geared towards smart listeners, tho this teacher is a smart man it takes a smart MUSICIAN to truely appreciate this. Tosin Abasi should be a legend in his own time.

  • You,man,are fuckin' amazin'.

  • Some shredding

  • see his muscle going nuts in his right arm at the beginning

  • groupings of 4 are odd? O.o they're just straight 16th notes.....

  • @SweepyLOTW Why don't you count it? It's not just 4s.

  • @SweepyLOTW Semantics. I think he was talking about the 5s. Don't be a douche :)

  • If you watch his arm at the beginning of the video you can see his muscles bouncing around like a spasm i'm sure due to his crazy finger strength.

  • best part is that we would never know if he made a mistake.

  • if you can play this, you have won at the game called LIFE. :/

  • @cooperic hm......no

  • his fore arms and fingers are made of cybernetic material wich gives him the android like speed needed to do this SICK riff. HE AINT REAL GUYS, HE IS A CYBERNETIC GUITARISTS!!

  • Who else stared at his forearm muscle?

  • @hnxkam o shit i never saw that sick!!!!

  • @hnxkam your mom

  • @Damien333

    extremely cool story bro

  • @hnxkam i think we all did, lol

  • @hnxkam It's like a jellyfish!

  • @hnxkam those are his tendons in his arm which connect to his fingers, everybody has that, you could just see it really well in this video. :)

  • @archererboy i know, it's just freaky how much it moves!

  • @hnxkam i know, they say that about my penis too...

  • Comment removed

  • @archererboy And maybe due to the fact that he is a professional guitar player?

  • @hnxkam I did.

  • @hnxkam Me.....

  • @hnxkam Obvious evidence he is robotic and accepts MIDI in a usb flash drive via his back. Notice the temp adjuster on his ear lobe.

  • @hnxkam Not until you mentioned it but I sure as hell am now

  • "But I don't feel like teaching you the descending portion of it."

It's great because he knows none of us will EVER figure the rest of this out without him. DAMN HIM. Lol

  • wait, so he's tuned BDADGBE? so the lower D string is only 3 half-steps higher than that bottom string? that seems like such an awkward tuning to me..

  • @rockster07 it's tuned in Drop E so its EBEADGBE low to high

  • @brycemasonweir15 uh, well it says its just a 7-string in this vid with the E string tuned to D, so maybe you're wrong? lol, just saying.

  • he was probably tired of hearing requests for this lol

    thanks!!

  • The real challenge is keeping the rest of the strings from sounding.

  • Looks like his elbow is gonna explode lol. Favorite guitarist of all time :D

  • lol 2:38

"I don't feel like teaching you the descending portion-it's just too epic for your inferior hands to handle." This guy is pure awesome-ness :D

  • oh wow i thought the pick was his tongue sticking out

  • The problem is not this tapping part, but the first in sweep pickin!!

  • I saw you play this song in San Francisco and this was great. Very very talented

  • OMG the intro song. animals as leaders remixed into dubstep would be the dopest thing ever made in the musical world.

  • phrygian! my favorite mode!

  • @ehayes3791 ass.

  • @Lorenzocreations

    uh....what? lol

  • what muscles lol! :)

  • He's the future of guitar....well, him and misha.

  • i need to meet this guy and talk to him..i got some questions =)

  • are you a wizard?

  • I wanna see this guy and Bulb do a guitar battle to Meshuggah as a backing band.

  • @Slashe50

Tosin, without a doubt. That match up isn't even worthy to fantasize about.

  • @Slashe50 hell yes

  • the intro music is freaking amazing

  • @tehsimo haha man thats CAFO, basically the beginning of the song, check it out, its amazing

  • @MetallicOpeth i know, but it sounds so much cooler cut up and remixed like that

  • just by looking at how his forearm muscles move, you can tell he's got some true power xD

  • Tobin Abasi doesn't feel like teaching you the descending portion of the riff. Nothing you can do about it, really.

  • does anyone know where i can find him playing the intro to cafo? i looked up the tabs and its some insaneley fast sweeping

  • lol @ the tongue sticking out the whole time :P

insane tapping lick though, I'll give it a shot, but I doubt I can do this

  • @skatefallen15 tongue? are you serious? is a fucking pick XD

  • @Guitareye90

wow, this is why you don't comment high as fuck haha, that is definitely a pick

  • @skatefallen15 LOLOLOLOLOL

  • @skatefallen15

Dude don't trip, I totally thought it was a tongue too.

  • @Xellos246

watching this again sober, that is definitely a pick, and that was some damn good sativa I had

  • lol smart ass "i don't feel like teaching you the descending portion". Thats the musical equivalent of a cocktease! Oh well guess I gotta do it the old fashion way. Tosin f-in rocks

  • Hammer time.

  • #LOL Win

  • I wish I was black.

  • def one of the best musicians of our time, very very underrated

  • its a lot like buckethead. cept buckethead can do this with just 6 strings

  • Buckethead sure is hell virtuosic, and I've always been a fan. Yes, Buckethead's insane lead playing exceeds Tosin, and has inspired Tosin in a way (esp the tapping); Buckethead is also incredibly versatile and has some great songs. But IMO, sometimes Buckethead goes lame on the rhythm riffs. He'll shred for 5 minutes over 1 4/4 riff that's not that tasty. Don't get me wrong though, both are inspiring players & original artists. Longtime fan of Big B here, but Tosin's music is at the next level.

  • @mobart thats your opinion. i like aal but i just couldnt get into their stuff

  • @mobart

It's very difficult to compare Buckethead to anyone in general due to the fact that he is extremely versatile, superior technique and theory. Buckethead does not leave the comfort zone of standard timing on a surface level. Albeit, when he does, it's not as intricate as Animals as Leaders.

But to say one person's music is above another person's is quite daring. Most definitely above today's Prog scene...but Buckethead? Not too sure on that...

  • @drrojogochu

*has (superior technique and theory, etc.)

  • @SuperScree Probably the most retarded comment I have ever read.

  • @SuperScree

do you have fucking down syndrome? buckethead is a fucking joke compared to this lol

  • BUT I CAN'T TEACH MYSELF THE DESCENDING PART!

  • the greatest guitar player in the world in my opinion

  • I seriously thought he was sticking his tounge out in the begining.

  • any six string advice for scales and sweeps?

  • damn man. this is officially my goal in life :p

  • i thought he was sticking his tongue out at first lol

  • Tosin Abasi and Michael Keene deserve to just make a cd that sells out a a store just those two guys haha they could too they are metal music masterminds
