Man-Made earthquakes… The U.S. account of the damage caused by Nikola Tesla in the first major earthquake made by man is in this 1912 government paper, “The Earthquakes at? Yakutat Bay, Alaska, in September, 1899.”
it's sa in a future we'll can't listen to the v8 sound of a ferrari or the boxer on a porsche but electric cars are the future and there is nothing we can't do
yeah it Tesla Roadster limit one gear up to 125 MPH at high rpm like 13,000 RPM, I think better get 3 speed Automatic help less rpm save battery watts and 3 gear high more MPH.
Not the way electric motors work, ICE are so inefficient that they need a tranny to keep that sweet spot for torque and HP are at there peeks. Electric motor do not have such a dramatic curve and so you don't need a tranny. then extra weight and useless parts and friction would turn it into a slower car.
wtf dude higher voltage lowers amps as well as higher amps lower voltage to get the same power output, its simple principles. The motor will be ramped with a frequency drive as well between 0 and 400hz approx so load on the gears isn't pushed to max torque, but the problem with electric cars is we cant store charge effienciently yet or make safe nuclear power fuel cells once we can its goodbye fossil fuels
Top end isn't as much but it looks like it out-breaks the Aston big time. Put them both on a normal twisty road instead of a racetrack and the Tesla would give it a real run for its money.
im confused....email me an indepth answer on my youtube account...but in an electric motor for more torque dont you simply increase the voltage...speed=amps torque=volts ....so just increase the voltage to get more torque...it drains the battery faster but hell who cares if you reduce 200some miles to 80 "racing" miles
As technology moves on further I expect we will be able to set the performance output ourselves just by buttons eventually, it's still very early days but it's impressive how far we have come already
Thats not how it works. It all comes down to power, and has nothing to do with volts alone or amps alone. Higher voltage = higher amps, if the motor has the same resistance.
The electric motors they use have an almost straight power band that starts to decline only after around 7K rpms, according to the Tesla site. This means that more gears are unnecessary because the car will stay at optimal torque up until high rpms.
Wait, I forgot, this is youtube: STFU u stuupid idiot, u don't know wtf ur taking about. moran. go ern a degree in science and than u can talk
Umm... torque does not equal speed. It might accelerate fast, but unless you lower the gear ratio, that's all it'll do. It doesn't need to be a lot lower; something like 6:1 maybe (just guessing), but that's what'll bring up speed when driving long straights. Long straights are currently the Tesla's weakness, as the speed tops out too soon.
Ahh! I see, I thought you meant it needed more gears for acceleration. Yes I agree, 120 top speed is quite slow for a sports car. That was the only point when the Aston Martin took a big lead.
in a Tesla Roadster. Just up and down the road. The Tesla fellow told me what the controller set the topspeed to 125 mph to save the drivetrain, but it will go over 180 mph in free run. But then there is no warranty
From what I know final version is limited to 130mph by gearing since it has only 1 gear. @ 125mph it's already at ~13krpm! Older ones had 2 gears but gearing only allowed somewhere around 135mph. I think what the fellow meant is the Tesla is limited aerodynamically to 180mph w/ 250hp (which it is); I don't think the gearing is enough for 180mph even in the 2 speed. Though Tesla can always make a track/racing version later with a multispeed gearbox & it should be able to reach fairly high speeds.
the roadster is quick for a normal car but some of these Le Mans cars are not normal cars. it should expect to be left in the dust both in acceleration and very much in top speed. but with a second higher gear it could be enlightening to run
Unless you change the differential ratio or add a gearbox, you'll have some trouble reaching higher speeds. The "magnet" (actually, just a piece of inert metal) is spinning at over 15K RPM already at that speed. It might be difficult getting it spinning much faster.
Now, speed is not all. With the high torque and quick reaction it might be able to make up for the lack of top speed. After all even fast race cars spend little time above 125mph while on track.
keep in mind he has a passenger... ever driven your own car with passengers? it makes a difference takes longer to break. and longer to accelerate... hey if you're out to win a race don't take passengers

So what races are they putting Tesla's in?
Win a couple races and Tesla would get more buyers from the wealthy racer wannabes.

it has 150 mph's and 15k rpms on meters, it's electronic limited by 125 mphs, and it clearly can go 150 mphs whithout limit.

Yes, and with a second gear (which is so not necessary) it can speed up 200mph. It's incredible.

It seems like the Tesla's top speed (125mph) is too low for this race.

Admittedly yes it is too low. The good news is that this isn't its true top speed, its been electronically limited to 125mph... lets get hacking!
